Bingo
I've been dragged to bingo once or twice when I was in the UK, but never since I was here in the US. I don't really watch TV or movies here, so I've only really seen British bingo..... do Americans not use nicknames for the numbers? ...Because like you do... I'd always assumed it was universal, but when I googled I only came up with hits for British bingo calls. could be my google terms were biased....

Never heard of such a thing, I get the impression Brits communicate a lot in slang unintelligible to the rest of the English speaking world.
It may be certain areas or classes though. But Like any language if you grow up with it you accept it as normal. |
When my girls were in Catholic school I used to call Wednesday Night Bingo. No slang but heavy on lucky troll dolls.

How interesting. I would say that most Brits would know the calls for 11, 13, 21, 22, 88 at least even if they've never, ever played Bingo.
