June 12, 2009: Lance Corporal William Windsor

Lance Corporal William Windsor, better know as Billy.

Quote:

From his gleaming headplate to his immaculately groomed whiskers, Lance Corporal William Windsor looked every inch the proud old soldier as he left camp for the last time yesterday. Cheering comrades lined the route from his pen to the trailer waiting to take him to the zoo, where the Army veteran informally known as Billy the Goat will spend his retirement. His send-off came with full military pomp and ceremony - befitting-his lifetime's service with the 1st Battalion the Royal Welsh.

For the most part Billy, aged nine, has served as unbleatingly as a goat can - although he did once butt heads with top brass when he was temporarily demoted for not marching in time.
Seems Billy was a bit of a rebel, but aren't all the Windsors? ;)

Soldier, you call that a SALUTE?

GET THAT HOOF UP TO YOUR EAR!

xoxoxoBruce 06-12-2009 01:35 AM

I think he's flashing a V.

JuancoRocks 06-12-2009 02:50 AM

In goat language he's saying......

"Here.....Lick this one time......" with tongue extended.......

At nine years of age the lance corporal would need to simmer for quite a while before he's tender. Say, in red wine with onions, carrots, tomatoes, plenty of garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper. Maybe a few cloves too. I think I'd serve with mashed potatoes and a nice, dark Trappist ale.

The regimental goat is considered a full member of the battalion. He marches in front of the Battalion on all ceremonial duties and is much loved by all ranks.
He has a full time carer known as the Goat Major who ensures the welfare of the goat at all times.

Oh I love that.

"So , tell me, what is it you do?"

"Why....I am The Goat Major"

We need some LOLgoat captions:

Invisible cigar: delicious.

Say, is that a Goat-I-see?

That whole story just proves that the Brits, in all their proper behavior and stiff upper lips, are really off their rockers. :D

Just kidding you cus...

classicman 06-12-2009 08:00 AM

perhaps he was goaded into it

I sure hope Will can swim. Looks like they are expecting a flood.

That's an impressive set of horns there. I'm liking the ornamentation on 'em.

DanaC 06-12-2009 09:57 AM

*grins* fairy nuff :)

SteveDallas 06-12-2009 10:58 AM

Yeah, it's always been fairly clear that the whole stiff upper lip thing was to COVER UP the off-the-rocker-ness.

(P.S. Was I the only one who thought this was going to be about Prince William?)
