Firefighter Training

During the first night of my stay at Cape Lookout, I looked out the window and saw a bunch of firetrucks and a big group of firemen milling about. "What the hell is going on?" I said to myself. I soon found out; it was firefighter training for the area's small fire batallions. It made for some good photos. Below is a selection:

First they practiced with the hoses.

Then they signal the propane guy to turn on the propane.

Then they light the propane torch.

Then the propane guy really cranks up the gas.

Then they send in two teams to fight the fire.

Repeat through the night.

They should work on multi-tasking. Could have cooked a pig too. :D

That is very cool. Our disaster drills don't involve propane guy.

The one I went to that tried to use smoke bombs, it was raining too hard and the smoke bombs wouldn't light, so they had to pretend.

On the road between Philly airport and the river, there's a training area with a fuselage mock-up that's seen a lot of flames. They can't use a real one, it would melt after a fire or two.
I'll have to get a picture of it, although, I doubt if I could get one of it, fired up. :headshake

Mock up.

Bruce!

I think I know that place, with the busted fuselage used for emergency training in Philly. It looks like an old plane. It's cramed into some industrial district and looks totally weird. Get that pic!
