Mar 3rd, 2016: Hejji

I'm a fan of Dr Seuss. Big whoop, so is everyone else.
I've been to the Dr Seuss store where they're building a museum in Springfield, MA, seen his early cartoons,
advertising illustrations for FLIT, among others, and seen his WW II political cartoons.
But until today I was unaware of Hejji, a weekly comic strip in the Sunday papers, for less than a year 1935.

Unfortunately I've been able to find only six of these Sunday strips. :(

Wait! What happened to Hejji?

Did he get thrown in a deep hole? I'm curious about that, but the real mystery is why did the Mighty One wait to give the Trumpet Flower of Baako to his Fair One? It's already blossomed and sings. Is it going to get better? Learn more songs? Why the delayed gratification when such a significant reward was available immediately? It must be a significant improvement.

Based on the research done in the old Stanford marshmallow experiments, I think we can assume that the Mighty One will have a better life outcome than poor Hejji with his lack of self-control.

I know Hejji is the star of the comic strip, but I don't much care for the him. His curiosity and sense of adventure are both appealing, but his sense of entitlement is a turn off. What kind of a little brat is going to think, "Oh, cool! A singing flower! Let me kill it." And how stupid is he that he's holding on to the evidence tightly as he's dragged off to be judged? Just drop it over the cliff.

You see, it's the perfect opener. All those questions will make you buy next weeks paper.

Seems like a lumpy, un nuanced version of Little Nemo In Slumberland
