Upcoming Movies

I looked around, and there didn't seem to be anything generic; just a bunch of short bursts about particular films.

Anyone looking forward to any movies?

I'm waiting for The Golden Compass, Prince Caspian, and especially Coraline.

And I just saw the preview for Iron Man. That looks like it may be pretty cool.

I am dreading The Golden Compass and Coraline! But I'll go just so I can bitch about how they didn't match my imagination - of course.

I'm looking forward to Run Fatboy Run - it's out already but I have to wait for my housemate to agree I deserve the free part of the Buy One Get One Free voucher I have, or until Monday when I have some money. Assumption at present is that it will be Monday and probably on my own- having come off a 3 month tv show he is reluctant to be tied to anyone else's schedule for a while :(

Coraline, as in by Neil Gaiman? With the buttons-for-eyes and all that alternate universe bizarro-world stuff?

Sundae 09-11-2007 01:52 PM

Aye

Flint 09-11-2007 01:54 PM

Sweet. Can't wait to Netflix that.

Third Person 09-11-2007 02:16 PM

Third Person wonders about the Ender's Game movies. He wonders if they will ever make them...and if, perhaps it may be better that they don't.

Happy Monkey 09-11-2007 02:29 PM

It would be all but impossible to cast kids young enough to show the real horror of Ender's Game. They'd probably have o bump them up to late teens, which could still work, but it would be a very different feeling.

Yeah- It takes a lot of imagination and lots of movie majic to make Robert Downey a super hero. I said what?!? Robert Downey really? I have to see that!
Poor thing.....Every time someone sees him they call the cops. Especially when he's trying to mask his identity.

Does he, as he jumps to his death in bitter despair, hear a phone ringing at the end of the movie?

Well, I haven't read much Iron Man, but from what I've gleaned, he's a bit of an ass, but still pretty likable, and he has a substance abuse problem. I think it may be a match made in heaven.

Robert Downey Jr. is almost a textbook Tony Stark, the impulsive, alcoholic playboy. He doesn't have to look a certain way, because Iron Man isn't about muscle, he is all technology. Anybody could be in that suit. Iron Man is, by default, operated by Tony Stark, but he is not quite the same thing as the man himself. The man in the suit is understood to be highly flawed, so Robert Downey Jr. is actually a brilliant choice. :::Nerd Alert:::

I'm hopeful that Indiana Jones 4 won't suck. I loved Raiders. I'm not too sure about the title though. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I was thinking that with the time that had passed, there could be a story line about the beginnings of the cold war. Maybe something with the Cuban Missile Crisis. Indy's in Cuba sneaking around unknown Mayan ruins or something, and stumbles across a missile site. He goes all Rambo on the place and gets a signal to Washington so they can do the blockade.

Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones meets Harrison Ford's Jack Ryan. I would watch that movie.

I have wide range of CDs in my collection -- jazz, folk, rock, classical, world-music. Pretty much everything but opera. So what's the one album in my collection that my teens love and ask for? Black Sabbath's Paranoid and specifically "Iron Man". Sheesh.

Anyway, I thought it was cool that they used the B.S. tune in the trailer.
