Ripping DVDs - Advice Plz
The ƒlint ƒamily is tired of DVDs taking up physical space in our home.
*We need that space for Legos. Back in 2010 I had ripped my entire music collection using Windows Media Player. Pros:
Cons:
How do I do this for DVDs? Can I use Windows Media Player (like the features, not sure of file formats)? Can I use VLC (does it have comparable, auto features and configurability)? Is there some other, * FREE * application which does the task (also smooth, easy)? Could I pay * a little money * for some super-duper thing which knocks this task out of the park? Thank you in advance for your help... Trading opportunities had occurred in the past project. |
If moderators could edit this title to, "Ripping DVDs - Advice Plz" that would be awesome.

I use an older version of Freemake Video Converter.
The current version is not wantable for a reason I can't remember. |
Wonder if I can still get the older version. I'll check around. Thanks!

Cellar Tech Geek-Nerds. Seriously what do y'all use to rip DVDs?? plz
|
The only help I can provide was to change your thread title.
I don't rip DVDs. |
Older versions of MS Windows I used to copy from Drive D to Drive E, no muss no fuss, just copied. But newer versions of windows won't do that. I guess they got complains from copyrighters.

It's tough to defeat modern copy protections. As soon as a new protection comes out, there is a short lag, then a corresponding tech solution.
I use AcidRip, which MAY be available for Windows. It defeats most DRM schemes. Not all. DVD Decrypter 4.0 works for a majority of the tough cases. Nothing works for all situations. VLC will work for old schemes only, but I find the interface a bit kludgy. Only way to know is to try it. |
I use mediamonkey.

Update: I got a couple of big media binders. Left out some of the nicer box sets (LoTR, Futurama, etc.).
Lesson learned after filing all DVDs alphabetically: most of these movies I don't care to flip through, much less watch. |
