May 29, 2007: Singapore waterspout
http://cellar.org/2007/waterspout1.jpg
It started out like a finger out of the sky - this waterspout that occurred just off the coast of Singapore the other day. http://cellar.org/2007/waterspout2.jpg It's like a mini-tornado where a storm just reaches right down and sucks moisture out of the sea. http://cellar.org/2007/waterspout3.jpg Just a minor phenomenon, I guess, but everybody took notice; http://cellar.org/2007/waterspout4.jpg Which meant that, in this new era, the best place to go for images of it was flickr. http://cellar.org/2007/waterspout5.jpg |
Great photos. Interesting how the water nearby looks relatively undisturbed in that last close-up. Glad I'm not in one of those boats, though!

What's cool is that when one of these water spouts sucks up fish and stuff out of the water, it will be raining fish somewhere else a little later on, and everyone will be like WTF? Fish?!

He said that one time a tornado hit a candy store, and later it rained candy (and he was there for the candy-rain). He also said that him and his brother drove their go-carts (which they didn't have) off the roof of K-Mart and landed on their wheels and kept going. |

I heard you won't be able to call them waterspouts much longer, because Oreck bought the naming rights.
|
That sucks...
|
I wonder if the water that comes out of those clouds after will be salty.

And can include fish and seaweed. |
Nice pics, another beauty in tragedy type picture but more natural.
