River Stuff

I'll bury the hatchet over this and post some stuff every now and then instead. I took a weekend off a couple of weeks back to wander around the moors, being masterfuly stupid I left the camera gear at some for most of the time but I did take a few shots of that delightful old cliche, long exposures of moving water at one point. First one is as-is, second two have been played with a little.

Very nice. Are you thinking of going pro?

Beestie 02-05-2005 05:58 PM

I like the first one the best.

Where is it? England??

Who built the stone bridge - how old is it.

It must be tough to do a 2 sec exposure and not overexpose. How do you figure that out?

The waves in the second one are stunning.

Well done Jag , the third one looks like fog rolling in

Sun_Sparkz 02-06-2005 10:08 PM

ooh.. i love the first one Jag, i have saved it as my background :) thanx

they are beautiful!!

sun_sparkz, I'll give you a higher rez version if you want. Shot in the UK, down southwestish, place called Dartmoor. Bridge is very old, don't know how old or who put it up. Half were shot after taking a reading with a light meter, half were aperture priority mode on the camera set at the smallest possible aperture (from memory, F/32 with that lens). Pro? When hell freezes over.

just saw these, absolutely stunning, i LOVE them. the first one is as is, does that mean it was taken in B&W? i would like to see the color version if there is one.

jaguar 02-09-2005 11:17 AM

Thanks =)
First was indeed colour, all shot on a DSLR so you get a better quality B&W converting them later than in camera, here's a link to a larger version of the origional in colour.

LabRat 02-09-2005 01:31 PM

DSLR ? the original is now my desktop, and I already have a fellow labbie commenting on my new cool picture! thank you very much!

Digital SLR, a digital camera but with interchangeable lenses, proper manual mode and all the other niceities you'd expect from a normal SLR camera. These were a Canon 300D, I switch between that and a 1Ds. Lens was a 50mm F/1.4.

I love that last one... did you tweak the colors on it? That green is perfect.

Brown Thrasher 02-19-2005 04:57 PM

Very nice. I hope you found the experiece as tranquil as the pictures. I lived on one of the largest rivers in Ga./U.S. for awhile. I really looked foward to arriving home from work walking the 50 paces to the dock and watching the natural beauty of the flow of the river, as well as the inhabits surrounding that did not seem to have a care in the world. Thanks for the serene images...... :) :)
