Charles Ramsey (Ohio kidnapee rescuer)

He's a regular guy, but he knows right from wrong and acts accordingly; gotta like that. He's got a sort of wisdom too, almost the caricature of the wise old(ish) black guy.

He's really taken off, and it's fun for a while. He might end up as some kind of celebrity / endorser. He's already become a meme.

I wonder if we'll get bored and forget him quickly, or whether some naughty secrets will come out, or if he'll go back to his normal life.

I hope he goes on every chat show that will pay him.
And "exclusive" magazine interviews.

And then pockets the $ and goes back to normal with his street values.
It would be a shame for a decent "little" man to get sucked up into the media bubble of arse-kissing.

He's absolutely perfect in this situation, but I'm afraid he's going to get put up on a pedestal so we can knock him down again.

Just about every sentence to come out of his mouth in that interview is a gem that is full of pure wisdom. I like the guy a lot.

I have seen this kind of guy a lot at the prawn shop: the middle aged urban black dude. Uneducated, but street smart. Caricature-wise, like you say Zen. He's seen a lot of shit and found ways to survive. He has stories and enjoys telling them. Some of my favorite customers.

priceless

AND that song is great. I predict it will become a new American Folksong.

I fucking love the long pause and the double up and down look he gives Cooper when he says, "The lack of money..."

More than a dozen restaurants in Ohio have offered Mr Ramsay free burgers for life.

I hope he doesn't - because it will change him, or as glatt said change how we look at / treat him - it would make him into a caricature, and that would be a shame.

I honestly don't think he will - oh he'll get the offers, not sure he'd be interested in taking them. He was already offered a reward to wit he said, "I don't need it I gots a job, give it to those poor girls - they need the help more than I do"
