politics makes you stupid

I thought about it, and he's in poor health, but it's the sort of poor health where there is a very serious, complicated stroke, or heart issue, or Reagan-style dementia, and then he lives on monitored and medicated closely for years because he's high-profile and wealthy

Clodfobble 01-06-2018 12:06 PM

Melania would pull the plug in an instant. His children want the inheritance so they wouldn't object.

sexobon 01-06-2018 01:09 PM

But that would leave us with a One Pence Presidency and the British would laugh at our inability to bring numbers and nouns into agreement.

Clodfobble 01-06-2018 02:40 PM

Half-Pence, None the Richer

Good points all. The Presidential run let me dip into a group of white males of a certain age. The '86 Mets for the most part, Gooden is a special case, still require seasoning. Rooting makes us stupid. ;) The roid era guys might be a nice bonus in a couple years though.

Happy Monkey 11-12-2018 01:58 PM

He was 95, so you don't have to feel guilty over very many points.

Griff 11-12-2018 02:50 PM

Stan had a nice run.

Undertoad 11-12-2018 03:25 PM

dammit Artie Lange news stories say he did not stay clean on probation but is trying to get into a 30-day rehab to avoid a jail sentence

he will be on my list again next year

Clodfobble 11-12-2018 03:25 PM

No more cameos. :(

16 points. chances are he was ok with it, so don't feel bad. and now we have a race! sorta  Tortoise and Hare?

Happy Monkey 11-12-2018 06:15 PM

Ah, I was thinking five points. But it's apparently been based on age 111 since 2011.

monster 11-12-2018 06:49 PM

I know, I'm chock full of evil, but we had a year with a load of centenarian celebs carking it which seemed a little harsh pointwise -negative points etc

Gravdigr 11-13-2018 01:51 PM

Griff 11-13-2018 08:59 PM

Amen

monster 12-01-2018 07:03 AM

And a sprinkling of points as an early Christmas present form GHW Bush who decided enough was enough agad 94.

monster 12-01-2018 05:10 PM

So with one month left --but historically a harsh month for celebs who party hard and/or are very old-- the scores on the doors are:

classicman 59
gravdigr 33
griff 17
monster 17

game on! Kinda.....

lumberjim 12-01-2018 06:47 PM

So how many did we kill in total? I got zero, which is good... But I'm still kind of pulling for Chevy Chase.

That's awful of me

monster 12-01-2018 09:00 PM

Oh there's plenty of time yet. December is a cruel month.

Four, I think

Billy Graham
Burt Reynolds
Stan Lee
George Bush Sr.

Undertoad 12-14-2018 09:03 PM

run-on sentence follows

Artie Lange news stories say that, after completing 30-day rehab, Artie went before a probation judge, and she had him drug tested that same day before proceeding, and he tested positive for coke, so she told his lawyer to petition for a more severe state drug rehab program as the only way to avoid jail; but meanwhile, Artie's nose completely flattened, due to the fact that his septum is now entirely destroyed; and in a tweet on Dec 3, he said that he's only free of opiates because he got a shot of a month-long opiate blocker.

Dec. 3. Do the math

Two weeks left in 2018... I think he will make it, but look at what Artie looks like now.

lumberjim 12-15-2018 08:39 AM

Holy shit

Griff 12-15-2018 08:41 AM

^ yeah that

Gravdigr 12-15-2018 12:37 PM

Damn.

xoxoxoBruce 12-16-2018 12:00 AM

But should he be jailed to prevent him for hurting himself? Does individual freedom allow hurting yourself. I suppose by buying it he's helping/financing bad dudes, but that can be said for a lot of things which are legal.

Glinda 12-16-2018 03:53 AM

Sondra Locke.

I have an entertaining personal story about her and Clint (NSFW). PM me for deets. ;)

glatt 12-16-2018 07:46 AM

Of course I would like to hear that story.

I don't think I want the state getting involved unless he's hurting others. That may be next year's list talking though.

Undertoad 12-16-2018 09:45 AM

I will always remember her as Lynn Halsey-Taylor as that was her character's name in the "Every Which Way" movies. And then because at some point I noticed Halsey-Taylor was the brand of all the drinking fountains.

Undertoad 12-16-2018 09:50 AM

Jail would be a mild improvement in his life, but Artie should not be jailed; he is going to die in order to be an example to the world.

I take from it now what Dr. Peterson shares. Artie is in Hell. Whether or not you believe in a "traditional", religious external Hell (Peterson doesn't), the Hell we put ourselves in is just as bad. Artie's tortured mind has led him to abandon all that's meaningful and all that's responsible, and this is the result.

You barely need drugs to accomplish this. The drugs have made it simpler, and destroyed his septum, but he would have slowly destroyed the rest of his life in any other direction he chose.

Gravdigr 12-16-2018 03:13 PM

Think what a good, solid punch to the face would do to him him right about now.
