January 1, 2012 Sunken Bridge
Happy new years!
The bridge? It sunk. http://cellar.org/2011/Moses+Bridge+-+002.jpg http://cellar.org/2011/Moses+Bridge+-+004.jpg http://cellar.org/2011/Moses+Bridge+-+007.jpg http://cellar.org/2011/Moses+Bridge+-+012.jpg Apparently this a mote around an earthen fortress called Fort de Roovere in the Netherlands. The water is too deep to walk thru and too shallow for a keel boat, making it hard for attackers to make it across before they'd be riddled with arrows and other unpleasant things. To get access to the fort this bridge was recently built by Accsys Technologies out of Accoya wood. |
That is super-cool. Bless the Dutch.
I assume, being a moat, the level is reasonably constant. Not much room for error though...? |
har! I love it. It looks wrong on so many levels lol

Apparently there is a sump pump that keeps it dry when it's working.

MWHAHAHAH!! Fail!
Definitely looks like the spillway - wasn'ting. I marvel at the whole concept when it's dry. The buoyancy forces are crazy high! Think of the tons and tons of water displaced. |
The Bridge on the River. Why?
|
+1 clever!
|
Definitely c l e v e r!

Damp Dutch ditch doesn't deter.
