|
A Mom's Special from Mom's Deli (4412 Jamieson Ave., St. Louis, MO 63109 USA...sorry, no website): ham, roast beef, turkey, munchee cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and homemade 1000 Island dressing on French bread. $4.95 plus tax. Voted the best deli in St. Louis for something like 15 straight years.
|
A spinach salad, with sesame dressing. I thought we were having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight, so I went with a light lunch. Now I'm starving, and I just found out...no spaghetti and meatballs. :sniff:
|
So, Mr. Blue is currently doubled over in pain from you kicking him in the nads over no spaghetti? :)
|
Don't give me any ideas! I'm just cranky enough...
|
I'm going to have leftover chip-shop chips (chunky fried chipped potatoes, not french fries) from last night. Reheated in the microwave at work. Can't wait - they're really salt & vinegary and will make the whole place smell like a chip-shop.
Although am having tea & biscuits until I clear this mailout from my desk - chip grease is not really appreciated on letters to GPs. |

There are tricks to finding a good place to eat on the road, several of which involve the use of my CB and THIRD ANTENNA. I am also amused at the four wheel travelers who think that any place a trucker eats just HAS to be good! My favorite trick, however, involves the creative use of my crock pot for hot meals for little money. I budget $100/week for eats, although I met a gf for lunch yesterday and wound up spending a C note on lunch at Chilies, a place that I usually avoid. Payoff: she brought two friends and I didn't get back "home" until midnight! :thumb2: |

an update on the a girl in every port concept! |

Define "gf".
At last count, I have girls of some description in fifteen cities across the US, none are serious and only one wants to get married. That would be the one who can't even advance an opinion on a movie without testing to see what *I* thought first. I think I'll pass on marriage for, oh, say, FOREVER! I learned my lesson. Brian |
Resurrecting this thread because my lunch today is so good I had to share it (virtually, which is always best when there isn't enough to go round).
Marks & Spencers Chicken Dopiaza - because at £1.89 it was silly not to. And a bathura - big fluffy Indian bread -from the vegetarian restaurant (Halli) round the corner. Both courtesy of my ex Manager who gave me some money for lunch like a sort of surrogate Dad. |
I'm having homemade veggie soup. Sooooooooooo good and so good for you! :)
|
I just had sliced turkey w/ slice of american cheese on wheat, bag of sunchips, and diet coke. I'm trying SO hard to be good! A big greasy tenderloin was calling my name. [/willpower]
|
Oatmeal, I'm lazy...
|
Homemade 15 bean soup of ass destruction, including not only 15 different beans but also smoked ham, onion, garlic, stewed tomatoes and chili powder. 6 hours after eating it, nobody will be remaining in your area.
|

Well my grocery store carries this product which is basically a packet containing the beans, for like a dollar, and then I follow the recipe on it. But what I do that's different, see, is I throw away their silly "ham flavoring packet", and I cut up and add the meat of a smoked ham butt.
That's what it's called, I think. Smoked ham butt. Anyway after rinsing the beans overnight and slow-simmering for 3 hours, they don't really resemble themselves any longer, the beans, which is how I like it. They all fall apart and create a big mash. And the pieces of ham fall apart in your mouth, they're so tender after all that treatment. But now I have contributed to the global warming problem through my horrible release of many greenhouse gasses. |
Carol makes it mostly the same way But ( and this But makes ALL the dufference ) she puts a TurboDog in with it !!!
:yummy :yummy :yummy :yummy its ASSARIFIC !!!!!!! Oh and she makes skillet cornbread to go along with it , She crumbles the corn bread in the soup , I say that WASTES the good corn bread !!!!!!! |

Today is Medina Kabob, a little restaurant on the other side of town. I'll probably have a veggie samosa, gyro, and hummus.
|
Today I treated myself to McDonalds - Quarterpounder with cheese meal. Feel quite sleepy now.
The woman say across from me is eating some generic crisps (chips to you) from a huge bag. She is filling her fist with them and cramming them in her mouth. The greasy smell and the sound is making me feel quite ill - I might have to go back out of the office.... |
They actually call them QP's over there? I know you guys still use Imperial measurements in the UK, but I thought maybe Royale was the standard name across Europe.
Breakfast sounds good, it being 8am here in St. Louis. I never did have those pancakes Saturday... |

It might be because we're quite good at calling things by foreign names in the UK. But more likely that we got McDonalds before the rest of Europe (this is a guess btw) and therefore before a name change was deemed necessary. |
The name will change to "113 Grammer".
reader's note: this marks the 14th time this light joke has been made on the Internet. |
Good job...you got in on it early! :)
|
I really need to get a life outside of movies I like...
Quote:
Jules: They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese? Vincent: No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn't know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is. Jules: Then what do they call it? Vincent: They call it a Royale with cheese. Jules: A Royale with cheese. What do they call a Big Mac? Vincent: Well, a Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it le Big-Mac. Jules: Le Big-Mac. Ha ha ha ha. What do they call a Whopper? Vincent: I dunno, I didn't go into Burger King. |
I love the way Vincent says it when he and Jules are about to smoke those kids.

We're having a pot luck at my office today. So far I have ingested as much food as I usually do in one day and it is not yet noon. We have everything from crab dip to creme filled cupcakes.
|
Thai green curry beef.

I had some chicken breast strips...because I'm obsessed with boobies.
That was actually breakfast...April and I will probably have lunch after I'm done at the doctor. |
Crabcake on an onion roll, mashed sweet potatoes with raisins and more onion, and a large coffee with soy milk.
|
corn chowder, reese's pieces, coffee
later.... more coffee, brownie, beef cup o ramen. |
White tuna (butterfish) roll, tiger roll, miso
|
When I was walking through the market at lunch today I walked into a pungent waft of garlic. I'm not sure where it came from, but it got into my head that I just had to have chicken kiev for lunch.
Now this used to be a staple of every pub menu as far as I remember, but I ended up wandering halfway across town without finding any. In the end I compromised - in the last pub before work I had a pint of Diet Pepsi, gammon & pineapple with chips and peas and a grilled tomato (which I didn't eat - bleurgh). Oh and a portion of garlic bread on the side. Have promised myself as soon as I stop working here I will go back to eating healthily - I've just got a real end of term feeling at the moment. |
