At 2261.5 lbs, Richard Wallace of Greene, R.I., clinched the title from his son, Ron, whose 2,230-pound fruit set the record in 2015.

My mom's record is like 887 pounds, and she had to have a forklift and like 4 big dudes to get that one into a truck...how they offloaded it at the fairgrounds I do not know (all I know is that the forklift and big dudes did not go with...). |
Yes, it takes heavy equipment to handle them, that's why they are growing them denser to not collapse.

Solid they may be in that there is much less cavity than normal, but they are about 92% water.
