Oct 31, 2010: Fish Story

From the Austrian Times comes the story of Dan Nowak entering a fishing contest at, "a power station reservoir in Rybnik, Poland".
The punchline is. "he hooked a monster 49-inch Piranha". Say what? Piranha? Poland? WTF? :eyebrow:

Now looking at the photo, either Dan is one badass mo-fo, or that fish ain't even close to 49 inches. Maybe 18 or 20, tops.

Quote:

Nowak, 28, claims he hooked the normally tropical brute in a stretch of warm water heated by a power station...
That would explain the warm water fish's survival, plus warm water would provide more food, which could explain the size... sort of... maybe... I guess.

But the really strange part, nobody would believe it's a Piranha, because of it's teeth.

It looks like it ate a human, and swallowed everything but the dentures. :haha:

But experts are wondering if Nowak's fishy tale is really the whole tooth.
"There's something distinctly strange about the piranha's teeth and it's a huge fish - twice what you would expect," said one.
But officials at Bukow Mini-Zoo - where the fish is now on show - confirmed: "It was probably dumped by an owner who didn't realise how large it would get."
They didn't mention if it was a Nuclear plant or not.

No what?

ZenGum 10-31-2010 04:30 AM

I guess he caught it with a fishing pole.

49 centimetres would look about right. Inches, harrumph.

SPUCK 10-31-2010 05:31 AM

Yeah, that's what I was going to say - 49cm and :3_eyes::3eye::nuke:

OMG. That thing is disgusting!

I've been watching a lot of TV lately (don't ask why) and there are a TON of lake monsters out there - not just ol' Nessie.

there are four in Canada, one here in the US (Lake Champlain monster called Champ) and there's one in just about every large lake anywhere. I got to wondering --- who swims in those lakes? I sure as hell wouldn't. *shiver*

When you haul something like that in ..... you should always be aware ... its MOMMY is lurking around somewhere .....

It's been a bad week for bad week for monstrously big animals.

Someone shot the Emperor of Exmoor - a giant stag.
Apparently, anyway (there is confusion since)
It was supposedly the largest wild animal in Britain.

I haven't had any reports that it was wearing dentures though.

If there's confusion, send the venison to the Cellar. We'll taste it all, and let you know.

:kettle:Who's heating up the grease?

I see my plan for breeding humans with fish is working!

Maybe it was 49 cm, which equals 19.3 inches.
I feel fairly confident in saying that they do not use inches in Europe.
