The Federated Commonwealth (FedCom)

AFRICA

A continent that has been neglected, abused, pillaged, and exploited by the rest of the world for centuries of history. A dozen wars burn across the continent, dictators sack their own nations, millions starve and die of disease each year, and the rest of the world is content to look the other way. Shame on them.

International aid shipments are seized by corrupt governments before they can reach those in need. Humanitarian groups can only do so much, and the good they manage to do is rarely permanent. Some groups have even gone so far as to write off Africa as a lost cause, and give up.

FedCom refutes that sentiment. Ours is the ONLY micronation intent on building the world's first modern civilization in this forsaken land; to give the neglected people of Africa a chance for prosperity. We envision a new nation, on par with that of the most developed nations in existence today, which could lead the rest of Africa out of the slums of the third world.

Powerful as that vision is, we cannot do it alone: we need the strength to make a difference. We have the plan and the vision: we just need the means to bring it to life.

Oh, I see. You plan to leave Indiana and snatch a piece of the Cameroon/ Equatorial Guinea/ Congo area, which is populated with poor/uneducated people and ruled by a small group that benefit from the oil revenues.

You sir, are a true American.

Wow, an insurgency. New, and bright idea...just what we need. Great. I'd wish you luck with that, but I wouldn't mean it.

After looking at that web site, this can't be real.

Didn't we already try this? Wasn't it called "Imperialism"?

There are of course obvious problems with laying claim to territory occupied by violent natives, which has been solved conveniently by keeping their specific claims secret and without physical presence... Which really means that they are not claims at all, right? Considering the land is occupied by almost certainly violent natives and governments, it seems highly impractical to ever succeed in this area.

Second, their social order is composed of "castes". There are various civilian castes which don't really matter, since the society is actually controlled by a military junta. Additionally membership in the "warrior" caste is by birth alone, which makes them a form of royalty. Of course all of this is tempered by their responsibility to protect the people with their lives, defending their borders and territory with... OH WAIT, they don't HAVE any territory that they will admit to, and no physical presence anyway!

The impracticality of actually acquiring territory is in the benefit of the Royal Family (yeah, yeah, "warrior caste"), because by never indicating exactly what they intent to take over they effectively dodge all societal duties while running the whole show. Considering the "show" is "We have all the guns so we are in charge" and basically equates to an alleyway mugging, I rate this government an F- in quality and consideration.
