How many syllables
The word "triplicate" has three syllables; that is right with the world. And the word "quadruplicate" has four. Again, this is correct. But the word "duplicate" has THREE syllables. And that is wrong.
The word "double" has two syllables, but the word "triple" also has two, and "quadruple" has three, again very wrong. All the digits have one syllable, except for "seven", which is absolutely wrong. All the "teen" numbers have two syllables, except "seventeen", due to "seven", which makes "seven" an even bigger mistake. |
Uno, English is weird.
Dos, it's interesting how language frames our perception. |

'World Wide Web' has three. Its abbreviation - the short way of saying it - has nine.

Letters not syllables, I know, but “fork” has 4 letters and it is placed on the “left,” which also has 4 letters. “Knife” and “spoon” each have 5 letters and they are placed on the “right,” which also has 5 letters. This is good and just.
