Sept 14, 2010: Book Hoarders

There's a book hoarding couple, in St. Louis Park, MN.
After lining all the walls with bookshelves, they were still tripping over cardboard boxes.
So of course the logical solution was to buy the house next door. for the books... of course.

Well nobody wants to trundle outside in their snuggie & slippers to grab a book, especially in MN winters.
So logic rears it's expensive head once more, and they connect the two houses, as well as remodel the new place next door.
OK, formerly next door.

I believe the first picture is the front of the two houses, and the second is the rear.
Oh, the guy said St Louis Park didn't have a rule against it, because nobody had ever wanted to do it before. :haha:

Pictures of the interior at the link.

It's good to be king.

Even in MN.

Nicely done.

WANT!! Badly!

darkwing duck 09-14-2010 09:26 AM

I'd LOVE to do that! I'm going to suggest it to my husband.

Granted, we live in a townhouse, so all's we really have to do is cut a door in the wall.

I need space for my books. Me want.

pretty functional "hoarders" if they can afford to buy and build that.

Someone did that just round the corner from me here. I'll try and take a pic sometime. Not sure what they're hoarding, though, although I have my suspicions....

But what they won't ever consider is buying a Kindle.

"This," says Sue, "is a strictly text-bound household."

Gosh. Better get rid of the contents of the filing cabinet then and the house looks fairly flammable too....replace, quickly and there's trees out the front with spindly branches....

xoxoxoBruce 09-15-2010 03:27 AM

Most of the house would catch before books in wall bookcases. Plus not having boxes to trip over makes it safer.
