Ye Olde Videoe Clippe Threade

Jimbo requested a separate video clip thread for some of my collection of bizarre little video clips, and please add your own if you have 'em to share.

Modem users are encouraged to ignore this thread.

OK, you remember the original "Wassuuup" Budweiser commercial? The Superfriends version was passed along.

Video clips? Okay. Dancing Robot Man (in WMV format)

First two kids: they suck. Watch for the guy in the red shirt.

Undertoad 12-18-2003 07:47 PM

cat fight...hilarious!!!!!

Oh...my....GEEEEOD! That was too much!!! Thanks for sharing!!! :)

Elspode 12-18-2003 08:15 PM

I was going to post a link to the all time classic 'Net video, George Gobel's page about lighting a charcoal grille with liquid oxygen, but it is gone...damn bandwidth Nazis...

The Ping Pong vid was *awesome*. Brilliant!

Elspode 12-18-2003 08:17 PM

The *other* all time 'Net classic, the exploding whale...11 megs and change, but well worth it.

Texas Blues

This is actually my own, a little impromptu promo vid for a local band, but it will give you a taste of what I like to do (WMV format, 3 meg):

and the ping pong is KILLER !!!!!!!!!

Undertoad 12-19-2003 05:07 AM

This clip is one second long, and demonstrates the very worst road kill possible. Do not watch if you are a fan of wild animals.

Wow. So true. Especially the part with the stabbing.

Oh my god that was funny.

Chris MC 12-20-2003 10:53 PM

Although I found this funny, I thought REJECTED was funnier and worthy of committing to DVD.

Chris :D

Bitman 12-21-2003 12:28 AM

I can't seem to "find" Hertzfeldt's other shorts. Are they "available"?

Oh, and now that you've seen the movie, go see the music video.

Edit: This guy has a couple more. Click 'Movies', scroll down to Hertzfeldt.

Every time I start watching that Hobbit video, I can't help but be transfixed by its awfulness until he end...

Here's a project I finally got around to uploading. Satellite pix courtesy your friendly government agency, the NOAA: Hurricane Isabel - The Motion Picture

P.S. Actually, I thought the song was pretty good.

xoxoxoBruce 01-02-2004 09:55 AM

Downloaded it but it won't play. Something about a codec, said the clueless dummy.

try this:

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html

xoxoxoBruce 01-02-2004 04:00 PM

Oh my, that's a great link. It goes to a real purty page with writin' on it. Wonder what it means?:p

Bitman 01-02-2004 07:33 PM

Short answer: try this place:
http://koepi.roeder.goe.net/xvid.shtml

Long answer:
Terribly sorry, I wasn't paying attention. XVID is the open-source version of DIVX, but for some strange reason, there are no official binaries -- the developers flatly refuse to supply an installer on their website. So every time I need the codec, it turns into a goose chase for the latest site with the latest installer. Should've just used DIVX ..

xoxoxoBruce 01-02-2004 08:00 PM

Dat do it.:thumb: Yeah, that's a neat clip. Can't wait to try a clip with sound. And as I've just proved, it's idiot proof!

I Love Aircraft

For those with either broadband, or extreme patience, here's my first attempt at putting together some vid caps with Windows Movie Maker, complete with stupid titles and frivolous transitions. About 14 megs, 4.5 minutes, and if you love big radial engines, well worth the effort.

I apologize for left-channel-only sound. Not sure what happened there. It was my first time, after all.

www.lunalushede.org/WHITEMAN2000.wmv

This will probably only be here a few days...it puts me well over my storage limit.

xoxoxoBruce 01-04-2004 09:20 PM

Can you imagine the noise, standing on the Cliffs of Dover, with 1,000 Bombers plus fighter escorts going over a few hundred feet above. Damn!

This clip was sent to me by xoxoxobruce.

It's stunning to say the least.

Elspode...one comment. Fifi is a Boeing B-29 Superfortress, not a Stratofortress. That is a Boeing B-52. Other than that, good footage man.

If you want even better stuff, there exist video and audio recordings of various WWII aircraft here and here . I would enjoy any of these for my half-birthday. Hint hint, Dag.

Brian

Leus 01-08-2004 04:50 PM

Poor cat, damn shame he didn't took that fuckhead with him.

ndetroit 01-08-2004 05:48 PM

yeah, that's pretty fucking brutal.

I don't know why that makes me so angry... I don't usually have a problem with hunters, etc...

but that clip just makes me want to beat the living hell out of those jackasses.

Michael Roth 01-08-2004 06:20 PM

Well...at least the lion tried. Terribly overpowered, but he tried anyway.

Brian

Damn...I think I may have known that once...it kicked around in my mind, and then I did a web search on Google for B 29 Stratofortress, saw one come up first on the list (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...stratofortress), and just left it that way. Doh!

Hold on a sec, you've got a couple nits ..

The movie was completely blown out in the middle parts, and overly bright at the beginning and end. Either the camera can't handle daylight, or your processing didn't compensate well. (Or my player hosed the playback, even though I tried to adjust it.) Also, you'll want to look into a wind-proof mic if you do much more of that.

But I liked the transitions .. though the material was dry, you didn't linger on anything long enough to make it boring.

Elspode 01-08-2004 09:44 PM

Those cocksuckers had better have eaten that lion, because if they just shot it because they are upset about having little dicks, I'm gonna be pretty unhappy about it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pro-hunting, but not pro-trophy hunting.

No, it was just so damn bright outside, I couldn't tell I was overexposing the stuff. I don't use the camcorder enough to actually get good with it. I mostly just wanted to share the coolness of all those big ass engines running, and the contrast of the old high-tech with the new.

plthijinx 01-11-2004 05:48 PM

that was a pretty cool clip there els:thumb: i missed our airshow down here this year, won't miss it next year though!

Els:

I trophy hunt, but with a very different type of gun. Those shitheads are using rifles.

Did anyone else notice what appears to be a game fence in the background? This looks like a 'canned' hunt.

Sick, just fucking sick.

Elspode 01-11-2004 06:23 PM

Yeah, I notice that, too. Bunch of shit eaters hunting somebody's former pet that got too big and expensive to feed, I'll bet.

I hope one of those stupid pricks shoots themselves in the forehead while cleaning out their penis substitute.

Disclaimer: I like guns. I just hate idiots.

wolf 01-13-2004 12:48 AM

I present for your enjoyment "Redneck Surfing"

Safe for work. May cause extreme hilarity and many statements of "oooh, that hadda hurt."

Leus 01-13-2004 07:09 AM

Poor truckie... what was that guy thinking? I mean, what's the reasoning behind the destruction of that nice truck?

xoxoxoBruce 01-13-2004 09:02 PM

STUPIDITY.

Elspode 01-13-2004 10:10 PM

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say..."stolen".

Elspode 01-13-2004 10:12 PM

Watching the video again a couple of times, I've noticed something that would have made it a lot funnier. When the truck hits the telephone pole, the back end bounces up pretty high, and the back end bounces toward the 'driver'.

Wouldn't it have been a hoot if it had come down on him? I mean, he didn't get clear by more than a couple of feet. I think they should try it again, only the guy should stay on the truck.

wolf 01-13-2004 10:57 PM

I was very disappointed by that as well ... you can't actually tell if the rear tire landed on him or not. There is a slight stutter, and what appears to be a still of him standing up afterward, but it's hard to tell. We watched the clip on autorepeat a lot tonight at work.

Apache attacks Iraqi Insurgents

The troops determined that the Iraqis were about to attack and took them out one by one with a 30mm cannon.

The file is about 4.7Mb if that matters.

edited to indicate file size.

zippy: I have so much respect for the men and women of the military.

I have always regretted not having the opportunity to serve my country as you did - my father was career Army. After 9/11, my wife, who is originally from Iran, bought me the "Precious Moments" figurine of a Marine. She knew what I wanted to do (but couldn't) after 9/11 after seeing me "lose it" on more than one occasion. And my poor wife saw her best friend blown to bits in front of her very eyes by a missle from Saddam during the Iran-Iraq war.

Thanx for your service to our country and thank God for 30mm cannons!!
