April 30, 2010: Einstein

You’ve probably seen pictures of Einstein, who will likely be declared the world’s smallest horse.
Born last Friday, at the Barnstead, New Hampshire's Tiz Miniature Horse Farm, he was just 6 lbs, and 14 inches high.

Quote:

Dr Rachel Wagner, Einstein's co-owner, claims the Guinness Book of Records lists the smallest newborn horse as weighing just 9lbs. Breeders say that unlike the current record holder, Thumbelina, Einstein shows no signs of dwarfism - he is just a tiny horse.
I suppose we should wait till he puts on a little meat, but if we wait till he claims the record, he might be too expensive.:yum:

You'll be bidding against Alpo.

Shweet! He'd fit in a standard 12Qt pot.

Ha! Well played.
I don't quite get the point of breeding them, these tiny horses are truly hideous.

They breed them because they can.

Why climb a mountain? Why eat an enormous novelty burger? Why do anything? Because you CAN.

Just like that dude who gives the finger to every cop he sees - he does it because he can.

NO, NO, NO... Time honored adages such as "Hung Like A Horse" are without ambiguity, everyone knows what it means.
Now mother nature squeezes Einstein out of her loins and adds a layer of confusion.

There, I fixed it...

I have one that was 15" when he was born. He's grown to be a whopping 22". We'll all have to watch to see how tall Einstein will get. I take my "Lil Bill" in the back of my SUV all the time. No need for a trailor for these little guys. Congrats to the owners, they are pretty cool to have.

They make great horse d'oeuvres! :yum:

skysidhe 04-30-2010 09:55 AM

hehehe I would love to have one of those running around here.
Maybe I can get one and pass it off as a dog.:)

omg, can you imagine strapping a barbie doll to it and having it run around your neighborhood?

Yes Virginia, there is a Cowgirl Barbie!

Adak 04-30-2010 02:01 PM

So what we have here is a black and white rat terrier with a freakishly large head?

Having stupidly followed the link to Thumbellina (currently the smallest horse in the world), Einstein is an absolute beauty. Thumbellina is just *ugly*.

Dwarfism (like Thumbellina), is just *wrong*. She Looks like a pot-bellied pig, frankly.

Sundae 04-30-2010 02:22 PM

He looks like a pig.
Shame he won't taste like one.

Rditlkustoleit (wtf kinda name is that? ;)) you made me splutter all over my keyboard. Can I have a new one please?

Yeah, they said they wouldn't breed her, because she's so fucked up.
