Rugby group sex scandal
This story has been in the headlines over here the last few days and its really getting up my nose.
The whole thing is actually getting right up my nose. I mean, it happened 7 years ago and the girl's work mates have said she was a *rugby hussy* (she liked going out and hitting on rugby/footy players) and that she bragged about the incident back then, giving them plenty of details. Now, she's on TV saying that she wants to "kill those guys for what they did to her, and take a gun and shoot them". Quote:

I don't know any of the particulars outside what you posted, but ...
Why would these guys have group sex with a 19-year old? That seems like it's asking for trouble. She's young enough that she might not realize what she's getting into. The fellows would have done a whole lot better had they stayed out of the situation. |
The second quote, unfortunately rings true. And is pretty disgusting.
I dated a guy who played football (soccer) and cricket at a high amateur level. Via both teams, he went on more than one jolly to Amsterdam. Why Amsterdam? Because the sportsmen could get wasted and fuck prostitutes. Hey, it's legal there. As if the legality is all that stops men in the UK. He had it out of his system by the time I dated him, but the hypocrisy, rather then the visits, bothered me. Even apart from the sex - which I did not ask about - he had an issue with me having the very occasional spliff, but had whited out on Space Cake on each visit. It sounds like the lady in question is on the make, I admit. But I am also aware that pretend as we might, men in high testosterone sports will behave like animals. I give you Drogba as an example. It's not right, but effectively we pay their wages and enable them to do so. |
So this isn't gang rape. But group sex, however, she publicly says she regrets it while in privet brags about it. This sounds like a cash grab.

I find it hard to establish my moral ground when it comes to sports *stars*.
Sure, they are roles models for the youngens, but a lot of them are just kids themselves, thrown into the thick of it and expected not to make mistakes and fuck up.....coz for the next 15 years, it can still bite you in the arse. So I dither between expecting them to *behave* and thinking they shouldnt get held to a higher standard than the norm. Britney didnt get sacked from her income bearing profession when she repeatedly cocked up, nor any other celebrity...so why do sports stars get such a rough deal? |
Because they group fuck like dogs in heat?
Seriously, I'm not holding them to a higher standard than I do any man. |
If you reversed the roles and a man felt he had been taken advantage of by a group of attractive athletic women, years later after boasting about having had them to work mates, would you have any sympathy? Would you support the female coach being sacked over it.
Cause i've got this funny feeling that the guy would just be laughed at. |
I think the rest of the players involved are cowards for not coming forward and owning up. So much for the whole team thing...letting their mate take the heat for all of them.
Regardless of whether this chick knew what she was getting into or not, it would seem that she didn't ask to have sex with 6 or 8 of them but possibly 2. Who's to say what the credentials of the other barmaid are? No one knows what her adjenda might be in smearing this womans reputation. Maybe she had her eye on one of them herself? You just never know, but it certainly seems that there's been a lot of covering up over the whole thing. I think it's about time the disgusting behaviour of the NRL players in general has been brought to light finally. Perhaps now they'll do something about cleaning up the game. As a note, it seems these types of situations occur when teams are travelling together. Are they actually on their own time then? Or should they be expected to behave themselves when they're on tour? When any other sporting team goes on tour they're generally expected to conform to a code of conduct. Why not rugby league players? The whole thing just reeks and although I feel sorry for Johns' family, in particular his kids, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for him. He did cheat on his wife remember, and it would seem that that's the least of his problems now. |

The whole thing does reek, and I think the guys did cock up very badly...I just dont believe she's totally a victim. I do have sympathy for Matty, he cheated on his wife - yes, his wife knew about it and they worked past it. I dont think the punishment fits the alleged crime. |
Groupies will always spell trouble... after all, bragging rights is their ultimate goal so you know their going to kiss and tell.

At least at the college level, rugby players of my acquaintance were the most out-of-control bunch of partiers I've ever met. Totally not surprised here, although these are pro players right?
Alcohol will make you do stupid things. Should have known better. Both sides. |
I think I went to her party.....
In the 70's. |
Another rugby league player from a different club and who has previously been investigated by police for a different group sex scandal was snapped urinating in public over the weekend. He was fined $2000 by his club.
While peeing behind the pub isn't such a great drama in my opinion, it just goes to the mindset of these players. Surely they've all been warned to keep their noses clean for the time being at least, and yet the very next week Willy Mason is draining the vein in public. lol What a dick! |
