My Priest licks Dics - the church condones it
The Catholic Church has done something that would be considered grossly unacceptable in the 1950s and 1960s. They have ordered American, Catholic politicians to impose church doctrine on all Americans. Religion was once only a relationship between you and your god. A lesson learned from 'evil' created in events such as the Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, and Thirty Years War. But again, religion is a force to be imposed on all others, the laws, the Supreme Court, community walls, non-believers, and even Middle East dwellers.
This is good since the church is so moral. Of course. There is good. And then there is evil. Life is really that simple. Clearly there is no ambiguity since the Bible (like the Constitution) tells all. Meanwhile, others are dealing with reality. Lynne Abraham, District Attorney for Philadelphia, subpoenaed the Catholic Church for records. Discovered are records for hundreds of priests known to be pedophiles by the church. Priests reassigned in some cases even into Catholic schools. This is an abridged list of priests the Church knew about. You can bet there are far more: List of Assignments of Sexually Abusive Priests That means multiple Cardinals of Philadelphia knew about the problem and conspired to suppress and hide it. Yes, both retired Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua (1988-2003) and Cardinal John Krol could be indicted as accessories after the fact. If politics did not get its ugly hand in the way, we would do just that. After all, 85% of all problems are directly traceable to whom? These Cardinals (et al)? Or the religous extremists who protect these men? They knew of the problem and literally did nothing - Quote:
More information located at The Clergy Abuse Issue posted 14 Sept 2005 (yes I waited to see if anyone here was interested enough in raising this issue only to be decidedly disappointed). Also is a copy of the Grand Jury's 424 page report: REPORT OF THE GRAND JURY Well not exactly nothing. The Church is currently all but excommunicating a group acting as god's messenger. 'Voices of the Faithful' have been banned from all church properties simply for demanding reform from people so corrupt as to, instead, hide pedophilia. So you tell me which are god's chosen people and which really are the evil ones? For those seeking a bottom line - the last people who should be making American laws are religious types - people who are most divorsed from reality (funny - the church does not permit divorse - but an annulment can be purchased - sacrements bought and sold?). Only dangerous people would preach goodness from the pulpit while persecuting homosexuals - as if homosexuality were the problem. When do they learn the definition of the word 'denial'. Currently, the church is on another witch hunt for homosexuals within some 250 theology schools. These are moral men? Or just people so perverted as to even advocate church political doctrine in simplistic terms of 'good and evil'. Remeber, these are the people who would reform American laws - to save you from yourself. What we do know is that the church advocates 'hate of homosexuals' while turning a blind eye to pedophilia. Those are facts. We even have an abridged list of pedophiles only in SE Pennsylvania - a small corner of PA - right from the Church's own archives. At what point does the Catholic Church finally acknowledge, "They have met satan and it is them." |

I have found that the most unapolegitic hypocrites can be found within the hallowed walls of church. Pelase do not take this as a bashing of good people, but usually the most involved in "Godly" activities are the most condemning bastards out there. But then again there is no feeling like being shunned from the Godly establishment because your "leader" doesn't like you :bawling:  :smack:

Do I sound harsh? Maybe blunt. Posted is consistent with facts and stated without spin or politeness. If horny priests only had a spouse to remind 'their Holiness' where reality lies. I wonder when the Church will finally excommunicate me - an honor akin to being on Nixon's Enemies List which I also never achieved. |

More harm has been done in the name of religion than just about anything else. Anyone who claims that God is on their side/they are doing God's will should be avoided like...like...like an asteroid bearing down on you from the sky.
The Catholic Church was once the most corrupt government on Earth. Now it is just another business scrabbling to keep its customers, even if they've been systematically raped by those who were supposed to serve and enlighten them. Ptui. |
Cruel and power hungry people will use whatever is at their disposal to create a means to their twisted ends. It's sad that religion was, is, and will be, so often used. Since it relates to the hearts and minds of the people following. Religion gives alot of people a sense of purpose, self worth, and that can easily be used for evil just as it can be for good, there has been alot of good done in the name of religion too you must remember.

Slightly off topic ~ I got an email from a friend the other day telling me his cousin, the catholic priest, was reassigned to a church in Delaware after $7,000 in collections went missing. The parish that lost the money was asked by the church to pray for the priest(thief). :smack: |
Wasn't it Jefferson who said, "I don't fear the godly man, but the man of god."?

The church's problem is more about gay predation on teenagers than it is actual child molestation.
But gays have a much better public image currently than pedophiles, so it's spin control. |

Religion should not be confused with honest spirituality and sincere relationship with God. Religion is the mass tool used for control. Always has been, always will be. My viewpoint is that no one is going to tell me how to vote, or "punish" me if I break some surruptitious rule. That's God's job. My relationship with Him is no one else's business. If you want to sway my vote, lay down the facts and candidate voting records and I will determine who I want to represent me.
I believe in the separation of church and state, insofar as it prevents a monopoly on religious bullying. I don't think the "separation of church and state" means that you can't be a spiritual person and run a country/state/county/city, or that we need to pull down 10 commandments from courthouses. But I definitely see a problem with "big R" Religion in this country. Whack jobs like Robertson need to re-evaluate their Jesus-like qualities (or lack thereof). |
Blah, blah, blah.
If we didn't have spirituality we wouldn't have religion. If people would quit looking for excuses or hollow comfort we'd be much better off. |
I agree. The culture of the America is to deny personal responsibility. It's time we started paying for our own mistakes as individuals, and facing the consequences for our actions. But that's not gonna happen on a large scale when mommy the real estate agent is too busy to get involved in her kids' lives and daddy is too obessed with "getting over on" some guy at work to grab his promotion so he can shit on more people to care.

If you love your children, beat them......they're worth it.

I have heard that Los Angles will do with a Grand Jury what Philadelphia has already accomplished - use Church's own records to demonstrate widespread pedophilia in the Church, and Church management that conspired to hide and suppress it. The victims be damned. The problem be ignored. Morality defined by the powers that be because society cannot be trusted to make such decisions. That is akin to communism in its worst form.
Begs the question - what is the purpose of the Church? To provide a service to its parishioners? Or to enrich and protect itself? Ironically god becomes an excuse to justify the coverup rather than a reason to condemn it. Same twisted logic that also blames pedophilia on homosexuality. But then this is what happens when organized religion decides to impose its standards - by people who don't live in the real world - to save us all from ourselves - rather than just serve its parishioners. |

Spanking is like duct tape though. It has a proper application, but most of the time it's just an ugly all-purpose quick-fix, used until a real solution can be managed. Take good care of your stuff in the first place and you won't need so much duct tape. :D |
Speaking of duct tape. I went to my doctor last week to have him look at a problem I was having with pain in my foot. The doctor takes a look and says I have a plantar's wart. You know the prescription? (Aw you guessed already.)
Put a piece of duct tape on it. Change it once a week. That's it. |
If you weren't outside of Chi-town, I'd think that you must go to the same doc that my other boss does (I have a boss and an other boss).
She had a ganglion cyst on her wrist. The treatment was to be whacked very, very hard with a large book ... He used the PDR because it was handy. |
That's what they told me to do with my ganglion too, but they said don't do it yourself because you might break your wrist. I chose instead to just try to relax my hand more when playing the viola, and it went away on its own.

I'm with Bullitt here -- an organization that requires celibacy seems to attract people who are trying to run from their sexuality. There's no surprise at all to the objective observer when these people discover the hard way that there simply is no running from your sexuality -- even castration is only a palliative, and understandably viewed as a cure that is no improvement over the problem. By everyone from Pope Benedict down.
