9/14/2005: Bread resembling body parts

http://cellar.org/2005/bread.jpg

xoBruce and the WaPo send us this item from Ratchaburi province, Thailand. I googled for further details and found:

http://cellar.org/2005/breadbody.jpg

Kittiwat Unarom, 28, a Thai art student, has developed these works 'human being parts' made of bread at his studio in Potharam district of Ratchaburi province, south of Bangkok, Thailand. Kittiwat is a son of bakery owners, and said said he spent about six months to create this.

That is just a little too Silence of the Lambs for me.

So, is that actually edible bread, or is it really a dough product made for display purposes only?

glatt 09-14-2005 01:06 PM

Reminds me of a butcher's shop I visited a few years ago.

That's bread?? WTF? Usually weird (stupid*) art doesn't make me wonder about the mental stability of the creator  , but this dude freaks me out. :worried:

*IMHO

LabRat 09-14-2005 01:10 PM

OMG, those are dogs, aren't they?!

glatt 09-14-2005 01:16 PM

LabRat 09-14-2005 01:26 PM

BigV 09-14-2005 01:56 PM

I'm also addicted to boobies

capnhowdy 09-14-2005 03:12 PM

Edible panties have just been topped. So have bubble gum eyeballs and candy worms. You'd have to be a sick SOB to actually want to EAT this bread. Great for tasteless practical jokes but not to ingest. The Thai have GOT to be the strangest people on the planet.....It IS on this planet, right? They should name the bakery Frankenbaker. :vomitblu:

That first pic looks like John Merrick. Which is just so weird as I am currently reading the play THE ELEPHANT MAN for Script Analysis.

xoxoxoBruce 09-14-2005 04:56 PM

Whole new meaning to... butter someone up. :haha:

barefoot serpent 09-14-2005 05:44 PM

A Thai misinterpretation of the term Doughboy?

Leah 09-14-2005 06:37 PM

I don't think I could ever bring myself to eating any of that bread. I'd :vomit: for sure.

gerstle 09-14-2005 07:55 PM

i like how they're using nasty old hooks to hang the pieces.

Elspode 09-14-2005 11:31 PM

Art, schmart...if this guy had any talent at all, he'd make body parts that looked like bread instead of the other way around.

Wombat 09-15-2005 07:17 PM

"OMG, those are dogs, aren't they?!"
"Lambs."
"WHEW."

I don't get it - what's the difference? Surely killing a dog and eating it is exactly the same as killing a lamb and eating it. Or a horse, cow, rat, cat, donkey or pig for that matter.

A dog is a pet. People like them more.

You know, there's something I just realized. There are many parts of the body on some people for which I don't even like looking at (feet, knarly-knees), let alone slapping some pastrami and swiss on a slice of foot and chowing down on it. Yech!

In that case, stay away from Alder Creek.

warch 09-16-2005 05:22 PM

My raspberry danish now looks a bit less appetising. But only just a bit.

xoxoxoBruce 09-18-2005 09:51 AM

Here is a video of the baker and some of his bread. :mg:

Yes. Exactly the same fundamentally. But depending on your background, they are Very Very different culturally.

That video is even more disgusting than the still pics. People are paying up to $500 for some of his bigger torso sized ones. :headshake
