Hey folks. I know that many of us here have heard about free cycle - and have participated in it before (or still).
I have started (yet again) going through my things in preparation for a move south in the next few months. I'm going to start posting things on freecycle sites locally, but thought I'd offer things to you folks before I do anything. Everything is free - if I need to ship it, I ask only that you pay postage, or if you're willing to travel to the Harrisburg Area, I can set that up for you too :) Watch this space as I empty (and re-pack) boxes! |

even on a good day... this couldn't be porn |
i thought this was a good idea, too. didn;t really catch on, though.

Yea, I looked for your thread earlier Jim, couldn't find it. So, I started a new one. You know what they say about it being that sincere form of flattery :)
And capn', i may be a little weird....okay VERY weird, with a twist of kink and a side order of 'not the girl your momma would like but daddy would be intrigued by....' but I do try to keep my porn and my beanies separated *G* |

Well, i don't HATE ya *G*
But I think Jinx may have a problem with someone else lovin on her man. I do need to pick your brain about imports sometime in the near future - I'm in the market and thought i'd try to keep things 'in the cellar' if possible. |

2 pieces of furniture in Philly area
I have two pieces of furniture to give away.
1 chrome and glass end table with brass finials. Mirror-finish open chrome cube with glass on upper and lower levels. There is a sprung rivet on one of the decorative cross braces, but this does not affect the function. 1 Sauder wardrobe closet. Remember The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe? Well it's sort of like that if the wardrobe were made of faux wood with fiberboard backing and sold in a flat box for home assembly. No scratches, dents, dings, missing pieces, etc. Needs two strong people to carry out of basement, but we have wide steps. I'd prefer to give it to a someone who's been on the board for a while. The next stop is the Philly area Freecycle. |
Outdoor 6"+ six sided table
1 Attachment(s)
I have a 6'+ outdoor hexagonal table to give away. We've had it for years but it's just too big for our deck.
Some of the sides slopes down a bit, and there are peeling layers of paint so it will have to be sanded and repainted. This is a heavy duty table. The top might be some kind of fiberglass and the legs are heavy duty plastic or metal. The table weighs somewhere between 50 and 75 lbs and will take two people to move. I'm putting it here before it goes to Freecycle. |
Having eaten at it, I can attest that it is a very serviceable table. I don't have space for it, or I'd be all over it.

Power wash it, hit it with some gel coat restorer and you could get $100 bucks for it. Nice as it is, it looks pretty skank.

It's octagonal, actually.

But wait! Theres more! |

Buy a bucket of coat restorer and throw it in on the deal ... you could call it a patio table kit or something.

You know, I'll get in on this lack of action.
We've got two twin pine beds stored in our basement. They are pretty nice. Solid wood furniture made about 60-70 years ago. Not stack-able as bunk beds, but they look like they would be. Belonged to my father in law and his sister growing up, and my daughter used one for a while. We have the mattress and box spring for one of them (both are clean and stain and odor free and the mattress is quite comfortable and pretty new.) They just take up too much space, and I've been meaning to take them to a second hand shop or something to see if we can get $50 bucks for them or something. Happy Monkey. You're local. Need a couple beds? At this point, I think I could convince my wife to give them away for free. |
Almost a free lunch
You guys just missed out. Last winter in Orlando, we went to a Sweet Tomatoes. This is a chain all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant that is mostly salad, soup, and vegetarian with a few meat and fish items mixed in.
They had a deal where if I got a gift card, I ended up with a free meal voucher. Since there were 3 of us and I could use the gift card immediately, I went ahead with it. I thought it was good if you like eating healthy. The soups were good and the salad bar had some unusual items. Not a lot of meat items but what there were were ok. The missus was not impressed and we didn't go back. There are none here where we live. It turns out that there are a few in Vegas, but I didn't think she would want to go again. So here I was a few minutes ago, climbing the stairs to my computer and ready to give away a free meal voucher and a gift card that had at least enough for free drinks. But I told her what I was about to do and now it looks like Sweet Tomatoes is going to get a second chance to impress us. Since this is mostly healthy food, I will have to balance this out with at least one trip to In-N-Out Burger . |
