What are we having for lunch?

It's 11:00 AM.

A nice #8 from Mickey-Dees. Fish hypertension sandwich with a large side of french-fried strokes.

dar512 06-23-2005 01:27 PM

PB&J with a side of cheez-its.

Lest you think me too plebian - yesterday it was leftover smoked spare ribs I'd made last weekend.

Trilby 06-23-2005 01:33 PM

A delish pasta salad, all creamy and cold and yumm! I love pasta salad--could eat it every day.

doesn't this belong in the food/drink thread?

Hobbs 06-23-2005 01:38 PM

I'm only following the trail blazed by the "What's in you freezer" thread. :eyebrow:

BigV 06-23-2005 01:42 PM

coffee

Perry Winkle 06-23-2005 01:45 PM

The nice 81 year old italian woman down the street had me in for sausage & peppers, tomato -mozarella-basil slices covered in olive oil and salt, tuna salad, egg salad, and rolls. I'm in love

dar512 06-23-2005 01:57 PM

You're a lucky man, Grant. I was a skinny guy until I met my wife and all her Italian relatives. :biggrinlo:

elSicomoro 06-23-2005 03:17 PM

I had a sandwich from Quizno's. I should be eating cheesesteaks every day between now and the time I leave, but I just wasn't feeling it today.

Elspode 06-23-2005 03:38 PM

Subway 12" BMT on Italian Herb and Cheese bread, xtra Provolone, all vegetables, easy on the peppers and onions, with mustard, mayo, vinegar and oil, pepper and parmesan.

Pie 06-23-2005 03:57 PM

Bi Bim Bap. Bonus points to anyone who knows what that is. ;)

elSicomoro 06-23-2005 04:06 PM

A Korean dish.

glatt 06-23-2005 04:08 PM

1 homemade ham & cheese sandwich, 1 homemade PB&J sandwich, a small handful of pretzles, three homemade chocolate chip cookies from Father's Day, and a cup of water.

cowhead 06-23-2005 04:16 PM

coffee and V8 juice.. and of course delicious nicotine

warch 06-23-2005 04:26 PM

Eggplant curry and a banana.

Skunks 06-23-2005 05:58 PM

PB&J. I'm totally plebian. I've been eating them for most meals for the past while. (I'm most of the way through my third loaf of bread.) They're too easy/yummy/convenient.

I've been wanting to get some good chips, but the stores near where I live don't have the particular variety of the particular brand that I want. (<a href="http://www.seasonssnacks.com/seasons_sweet/item-detail.cfm?cat=5">Michael Season's Ripple-cut</a>)

It makes me want to open my own corner store, just to have a supply of potato chips and pasta that doesn't close at midnight/11pm.

BrianR 06-24-2005 07:56 AM

Liverwurst and cheese on potato bread. Two of em, I was hungry. And a can of sprite.

Trilby 06-24-2005 09:01 AM

I think I'm gonna have a Slim-Fast and a salad today. I'm getting chunky. Hazard of sobriety.

elSicomoro 06-24-2005 09:10 AM

I haven't decided yet. I'm going down to the office today to clean my desk out, so maybe I'll go to Corner Bakery or Hot Tamale (a Mexican place).

Pie 06-24-2005 09:35 AM

Sushi

elSicomoro 06-24-2005 09:38 AM

Pie, you rule! You're always eating "exotic" stuff.

LabRat 06-24-2005 09:48 AM

leftover cake, relishes and meat and cheese tray from the party we had yesterday for our first grad student to get his PhD in our lab.

free lunch two days in a row, go me :)

It's not just me. We've got a kinda rotation here at work, Korean, phở, sushi...
We're looking for good Chinese and/or Indian, but they're a lot harder to come by (at least in S. Jersey!) :(
- Pie (Mmmm... Angry Dragon Roll...)

Hobbs 06-24-2005 10:17 AM

Today is leftover pork chops, applesauce, and calliflower. Oh yes, and some home made chocolate chip cookies my kids made. http://www.cellar.org/images/smilies/yumyum.gif My fāv-o-rite part.

plthijinx 06-24-2005 11:00 AM

i have no idea. i can still taste dinner from last night, taco cabana, real late, after poker. i like the subway idea, tho.......

Elspode 06-24-2005 01:38 PM

Taco Bell today. No need to elaborate since they are all essentially variations of the same thing.

Anyone else remember when Taco Bell was cheap?

Hobbs 06-24-2005 01:56 PM

Yeah. I used to be able to get out of there for under $3. Now, I'm lucky if I don't break the $5 mark.

staceyv 06-24-2005 02:04 PM

4 potatoes, sliced thin and baked on a cookie sheet, with 1 T oil, pepper, and tons of salt.

Trilby 06-24-2005 02:32 PM

Shame upon my head. I didn't have Slim Fast and salad. I had TWO grilled cheese sandwiches. The real kind, made with Wonder and Velveeta. Food just tastes so freakin' good lately! IT TASTES SO GOOD! I can't help myself.

*ashamed*

Coffee.

elSicomoro 06-24-2005 05:55 PM

Seattle? Coffee? I didn't think you folks drank coffee out there...you just export it so that the rest of us are fucked up.

wolf 06-24-2005 05:59 PM

leftover spicy corn tortilla soup, hard salami and cheese sandwich on whole grain potato bread (didn't know there was such a thing until last week at the Acme) and unsweetened ice tea.

BigV 06-24-2005 06:03 PM

Uh, sorry. My bad. I'll go pull Starbucks' / Tully's / Cafe Appasionatto's / Seattle's Best Coffee's / etc's plug and tell'em to get packing. Cut that sh*t out.

Oh, if you're in town, here's how to order.

No, he's retiring. All washed up so he's being put out to pasture in St Louis. :haha:

wolf 06-24-2005 08:03 PM

Which is pretty much all pasture, so he'll be asking passing cows how to get to the house where he's supposed to be delivering the pizza.

farfromhome 06-24-2005 10:57 PM

Veggie sandwich-Whole wheat bread, a good brand w/ fiber and not too many calories. Either reduced fat mayo or smart beat. Baby spinach. Fresh tomatoes or occasionaly cucumbers. Always a sprinkle of pepper. Sometimes a squirt of mustard (Pardon me, but do you have any... ). A slice of soy cheese. And lately I've been adding a handful of sliced almonds. It's really good. It is the condiments and how fresh they are that makes the sandwich.
A pop open can of veggies and a piece of fruit or a yogurt.

I was on disability for 3 months with a heart condition, and was released from that 2 weeks ago. In April, I decided to move back to St. Louis, and my last day with my company was supposed to be July 1st. Because things have changed so much at my company in the past 3 months, they decided to pay me through July 1st and I didn't have to go back. Today, I went in to say goodbye to everyone and pick up my things.

It's been great...sitting around, going to the beach, drinking, sleeping...and making a nice pile of cash doing it. I leave for St. Louis Tuesday or Wednesday, so I'll be getting paid to drive cross-country too. :)

richlevy 06-25-2005 06:01 AM

Well, yesterday I picked up two packages of turkey bacon for today's breakfast/lunch. One of them was a new maple flavor. I like eggs with mine, but Jeffrey is a bacon-only person. I'm curious as to how he will react to maple flavored bacon.

capnhowdy 06-28-2005 09:52 AM

Smoked salmon, bacon wrapped sea scallops, and crab/alfredo linguine........I'm off work today. Oh shit here come the neighbors.

wolf 06-28-2005 12:41 PM

Bowl of generic sugar smacks and lots of coffee.

Silent 06-28-2005 12:43 PM

An extra large triple triple and a fruit explosion muffin.

BigV 06-28-2005 12:54 PM

Um, hang on a minute, I'm trying to get coordinate lock on capnhowdy's bbq. Be riiiiight witcha.

Samauri Salmon Wrapp is on the menu today, on the patio by the lake, with MrsV

Trilby 06-28-2005 02:27 PM

That place sounds :yum:

I had Cheerio's and a Cinnamon Raisen English Muffin. For lunch.

Clodfobble 06-28-2005 05:53 PM

I had... now what did I have? Oh yes, a piece of cake, and a stalk of celery with cream cheese on it.

I also didn't have breakfast, come to think of it. I was thinking of having another piece of cake, however. :)

Hobbs 06-28-2005 06:37 PM

Del Taco with my kids. I love Del Taco because they serve fries. Yes! You hear me, fries! Fries at a taco joint! Sends you mind a-reelin' doesn't it? There's nothing better than crinkle-fries and mild original Del Taco hot sauce. Althought I do pay for it later...."Whew, don't go in there for a while." :dead3:

BigV 06-28-2005 06:54 PM

I miss the green burritos from Del Taco. And the fries. Up here we only have dumb ol Taco Time and a burrito is like 4 bucks. Dude, I just want a bean and cheese burrito, green sauce, ok? Cause I only have 89 cents. :grumblegrumble:

Hobbs 06-29-2005 07:55 AM

Taco Time? Wow, that sounds cheezey. (No pun intended...no really).

elSicomoro 06-29-2005 09:39 AM

Hmmm...I might have to grab a couple of fish tacos from Del Taco later.

Silent 06-29-2005 10:01 AM

Stouffers microwave turkey dinner w/ stuffing, mashed potatoes, veggies and gravy.

wolf 06-29-2005 10:13 AM

I don't know yet, but I think this might be another generic sugar smacks and lots of coffee day ...

BigV 06-29-2005 01:40 PM

Was gonna be coffee and chili but after the IotD, I think I'll just pass, thanks.

Well, maybe some coffee.

So much for my other job as a professional psychic, I couldn't even predict my own breakfast. Hmm. I was half right. The coffee thing came to pass.

But it was with two slices of toast made from a faux artisan whole wheat bread spread with hummus and Crazy Richard's Chunky Peanut Butter.

Well, maybe some coffee.

Why do you usually just have coffee? The whole coffee/chili combo sounds like a rolaids commerical waiting to happen. Iron gut, or no time, or what?

And, goddang it, I had pasta salad AGAIN!
This has got to stop. :worried:

Oh, and where do you find Crazy Richard's P-nut butter? Hippie store?

wolf 06-29-2005 02:00 PM

Nah, Regular Supermarket.

It's the easiest to find of the hippie you gotta refrigerate it and store upside down peanutbutters.

BigV 06-29-2005 02:05 PM

because only on rare occasions do I get away from my desk through the middle of the day. The coffee fuels me and I just keep at the machines. What do you think generates so many damn posts? That's the coffee talkin. Actually, I can't blame the coffee or the caffeine, since I drink decaf almost exclusively. Better for my blood pressure, and it was the last thing I could give up before having to resort to more drastic pharmaceutical measures.

I do have an iron gut. I am NOT a picky eater. And I have unfortunately been cursed from a young age (by my Mom I bet) with "Clean Plate Syndrome". I find that to a couple of decimal places, my appetite matches my serving size. One can of chili, one meal. Coffee neatly fills the cracks and crevices, if any.

elSicomoro 06-29-2005 02:11 PM

I had a turkey, ham and salami sandwich. Not bad, but I would have preferred Del Taco. Unfortunately, I'm carless until later today--my car is in the shop for its 45,000 mile checkup. Maybe I'll hit Del Taco on the way back from the dealership.

lookout123 06-29-2005 02:12 PM

just finished a turkey, salami, roast beef, provolone wrapped in a low carb tortilla. finishing with an energy drink.

no it isn't about wait loss or anything, i love bread - but i don't get the after lunch food coma if i lay off the carbs at lunch. :)
