Are dogs delicious?

Probably. Many cultures eat dog as we do cow. Some cultures won't even eat cow. Don't get me started on the vegan nuts.

mmmm

Dammit, I'm craving a Mel's chilidog, now. Mmm...

cowhead 05-13-2005 03:06 PM

sorry I realize it's a cultural bias.. but I would rather eat another human than a dog or cat.

russotto 05-13-2005 03:14 PM

Predator meat usually isn't tasty, so skip the cat. Dog is probably better than people, at least Americans, who tend to the obese. Also, eating people is generally unhealthy, as you can catch _any_ disease the meal had.

I imagine that as with other meat animals, young dog (just out of puppyhood) is preferred. The old strays you find on the street are probably tough and stringy.

lookout123 05-13-2005 03:15 PM

if you want to try, i've got a six month old Boxer that i would be willing to donate for experimental purposes.

jaguar 05-13-2005 04:26 PM

that's a hell of a cultural bais there cowhead. I think I've probably eaten dog in Vietnam, I'm not sure these days.

I was thinking about this...and yeah, I probably would eat another human before a dog or cat, because a human might be more tasty. If I were in a situation where I couldn't survive unless I ate one of the three, I would probably choose the human (assuming there is a freezer around.) But, this isn't because of any moral dilemma...I would find it more moral to eat a cat or dog...but in a situation where you had to eat one of the three, morality might be out the window.

If it was offered to me prepared in a cuisine I liked, I would eat dog. Hell, why not?

Griff 05-13-2005 05:11 PM

So these two cannibals are eating a clown, one says to the other, "Does this taste funny to you?"

lumberjim 05-13-2005 05:30 PM

good one, g. i actually lol'ed.

hey, belessbored, you wanna take the quiz?

LCanal 05-13-2005 08:26 PM

Keep a photo journal of your BBQ and donate the dogjerky to a local homeless shelter.

Surely. But I did further explain my reasoning on it. Anyway, those are my morals...not gonna apologize for them and for the most part the entire post was a joke. Nobody needs to worry about me turning into a Dahmer or something...I was just thinking hypothetically. No offense meant to any non-people eaters or non-anything eaters, for that matter.

Clodfobble 05-14-2005 07:39 PM

Or purple-people-eaters. :)

cowhead 05-16-2005 01:35 PM

keep in mind that I am not actually recomend eating people.. unless it's in an intimate sexual manner and not really damaging.. then I'm all for it.

but.. if it came down to a dog/cat or a person that I didn't have any emotion invested in and there was no other choice.. well... four legs good, two legs dinner. (and there would be more to eat! and as to the obese thing.. well you could render all that fat down to make soap or butter... who knows! the options are endless :)

kerosene 05-16-2005 01:46 PM

that was my line of thinking too.

jaguar 05-16-2005 01:52 PM

if it's in an intimate sexual manner and really damaging you're doing it wrong.

kerosene 05-16-2005 01:57 PM

That too.

mrnoodle 05-16-2005 03:13 PM

I like meat. Dogs are made of meat, so I don't see why they wouldn't be yummy if prepared properly. The psychological part of it would be weird..we've made dogs into little furry people, so it would be akin to murder and cannibalism to actually consume one if you were raised in 20th century American culture.

I used to cry and hide when we butchered calves at the farm, but I also ate them with gusto. In retrospect, I shouldn't have named them and made pets out of them -- i kinda brought the psychological part on myself.

kerosene 05-16-2005 03:16 PM

I don't much like dogs as pets, because of their smell. I can always smell a dog in an owner's house. I wonder if they have that same smell when they are made into food? Anyone know?

wolf 05-16-2005 03:38 PM

Given that they usually take the fur off before they cook them, I doubt it.

kerosene 05-16-2005 03:42 PM

I wasn't sure it came from the fur...but you are probably right. I thought it might be glads or something that produce that smell...its a specific smell that all dogs have.

LCanal 05-16-2005 07:42 PM

Whose got the mustard?

Is there a reason you are going out of your way to be this rude?

glatt 05-18-2005 01:21 PM

I think he's confused. Fark can be found at www.fark.com. This is the Cellar, BLB.

SmurfAbuser 05-18-2005 04:19 PM

I'm curious to know how old Be Less Bored is. My guess? About 16, and definitely male.

wolf 05-18-2005 08:24 PM

I was working on a similar theory.

LCanal 05-18-2005 08:42 PM

I must have missed the whole thing here. But..I'll jump on most wagons if the're going the right way.

Now this might be for the Philosophy forum.

"Be Less Bored " inferes self. As in I assume you are all bored so be less bored. Or I am bored and this is the only way I can find time to interest or amuse myself.

Now being bored but still being able to conjure up interesting or amusing annectdotes is not the same as being boring as in "Be Less Boring" Which implies mind numbing conversation driving individuals to drink or worse. (I wish Cellar had spell check)

Damn, there another Jung (Thai for mosquito) swatting of which with high-tech, high-voltage tennis racket looking gizmo keeps me less bored. Of course you may all be of a diferent opinion.
