How Much Do You Weigh?

It sure seems like people talk A LOT about food on this forum. Amazingly, some people even take pictures of their dinner and post it for all to see. I must say I've never experienced that before on any forum. I'm bettin' we've got a little bit of weight problem going on around here...

I'll go first: I'm female, 5'8" and weigh 129

Cyber Wolf 08-10-2004 11:56 PM

I'll say I'm female 5'3" and 110 pounds. But how would anyone here know that to be true?:eyebrow:

lookout123 08-11-2004 12:03 AM

i'm a smashingly handsome and athletic 6'4" 225lbs
either that or i'm 5'9" and 151 lbs. (jsut checked that today)

Brigliadore 08-11-2004 12:07 AM

I'm female, 5' 4" and around 120.

slang 08-11-2004 12:42 AM

6'2" - 230

36x36 13 8"

Ok, 2"

farfromhome 08-11-2004 02:06 AM

Got you by two pounds, lookout.I'm also 5'9.149.But I also like to run.

DanaC 08-11-2004 02:23 AM

Female. Height 5ft 8" weight 125 pounds.

Trilby 08-11-2004 07:45 AM

Female, 5'6"--135 pounds----Dana! Girl, you are skinnnnnnny!

vsp 08-11-2004 07:58 AM

5'11", 190 lbs. I'd like to get rid of 20 or so of those.

glatt 08-11-2004 08:33 AM

I'm tall and skinny. Numbers don't matter.

What's the point of this thread?

Some people are happy with their weight. Some aren't. Some don't really think about it that much. Some obsess. It sounds like maybe you obsess, garnet, if you are starting a thread like this.

jinx 08-11-2004 08:41 AM

5'5.5" 108lb

I think the real question here though is - How much'ya bench???

Actually, the FBI wants to investigate all of you, so I'm helping 'em out with the info. :3_eyes:

Relax, Glatt. I was just curious.

glatt 08-11-2004 08:54 AM

jinx, it's customary to answer the question first when you ask it. How much do you bench?

I'm not sure myself, but I can hold a five year old girl in one arm while holding a two year old boy in the other.

lumberjim 08-11-2004 09:00 AM

i'm 6'2" 265lbs. that's right, fear me. I'm huge. TO be fair, my head weighs over 50lbs, so......

anyway, i weigh more than garnet with danaC on her shoulders. ...holding a case of beer.

Oh, sorry... 7lbs.
I can still carry my 6 year old or my 4 year old, but not together. No way.

Radar 08-11-2004 09:09 AM

5'7" - 215 lbs. (Down from 255 at the start of the year and counting). I've been working out a lot lately and have been getting very muscular, especially in the upper body. I'm still working on the gut, but it's gone down a lot this year. I've lost 6 inches in the waist. I've worked out more this year than in the 10 previous years combined.

I'll get down to about 165-170 but my bone structure is large. I doubt I could go down further than that even if I changed from 2 hour workouts each day to 4 hour ones. I've lost 30 lbs just since my wedding so I look different than my wedding pics.

perth 08-11-2004 09:10 AM

6'0" 220 lbs, down from 250. I've still got a bit of the pony keg, but hopefully it'll be a six-pack (or a reasonable facsimile) by the end of the year.

Congratulations on that, Radar. Weren't you on the Atkins diet? Still on it? And out of curiousity, did you experience any hair loss on that diet? I have a few male friends who tried it and found their hairlines receding at a somewhat quickened pace...

BrianR 08-11-2004 09:35 AM

I'm male, 6' 2" and 205 (this morning). I could stand to lose ten, but no more.

I have no idea what I bench anymore, it's been a LONG time since I saw the inside of a weight room. My preferred means of exercise is swimming, 16 laps at a time is good for me. I could guess that I bench around 120, more if it's just one rep, but I'm out of shape too. I ustacould bench 200. In my prime. I'm never again going to see a six-pack, but I'll be happy with a loss of the love handles.

Brian

AlphaRaptor 08-11-2004 09:44 AM

Im 14 y/o. 6'1" about 140 pounds. kinda slim, very athletic.

Radar 08-11-2004 10:04 AM

Perth: Actually yes, I still am on Atkins, though I've slipped a few times when I suddenly found beer and pizza in my belly on the 4th of July. ;)

But I just get back on the horse when this happens. I haven't noticed any increased hair loss, though some people do. I think the Atkins and the exercise are balancing each other as far as the testosterone levels are concerned. The exercise increases it, and the Atkins decreases it so my hairline is receding at normal levels.

Apparantly stomach fat is the most stubborn and the last to go, so hopefully once I pass the 200 lb barrier, I'll start looking a lot better. On the day I weigh in under 200, I'm going to celebrate and I'll plan a sky diving trip. I've been wanting to do it again for years and there's a 200 lb limit.

It's encouraging to see the belt getting smaller, and noticing my shoulders, chest, and arms getting bigger and more cut. I think my wife will be very happy when we get together again.

I just got some good news bad news... I was originally hired as a contractor at Boeing for 2 months to replace a guy who had gone on a leave of absense. That was a year ago. He now has asked to be laid off and since we do the same job, the company will lay me off also. But my boss says she will bring me back a week or two later. Normally this would suck because I'll be without an income for a couple of weeks, but I have been thinking about trying to visit my wife. And all this will be happening in the beginning of October, which will be perfect because ticket prices are cheap that time of year. I can probably get a roundtrip ticket for $700.

I'll be so happy to see her. But it will be very very hard to get back on the plane without her. I really miss her a lot though and everything seems to be falling into place for me to see her.

Troubleshooter 08-11-2004 10:13 AM

5'6"; 165-170 pounds; BMI approximately 27

For a 34 year old college student/IT technician that's not too terribly bad.

The farthest I walk every day is to get my coffee in the morning...

I've found that too. Seems like I've lost weight everywhere except around the middle. Since that's the most obvious spot, it's sometimes hard to stay motivated. But then I think to myself "What would Kate Beckinsale think of this gut?" and then I do 100 crunches. :D

Radar 08-11-2004 10:29 AM

Right now I'm doing 240 crunches per day. Four sets of 30 regular style, and Four sets of 30 with about 100 lbs of weight on a crunch machine. Although as these get easier, I'll increase the number of reps per set. Kate Beckinsale is very hot. I think it would be funny if she was turned on by short, fat, balding men without jobs. Every once in awhile you see super hot chicks with ugly dudes, that aren't rich and you wonder...hmmmm does he have a 12 inch personality or is she just turned on by that type. I've seen young, good-looking people who are turned on by morbidly obese people so I suppose anything is possible.

I remember an episode of Seinfeld where Marisa Tomei was turned on by Jason Alexander and I thought, "Hey, it could happen."

What motivates me and helps me make it through temptation is looking at how much work I've done thus far and the results I've gotten. Also the idea that I will surprise my wife and my in-laws when I visit again.

I love that episode--it was on the other night. Congrats on your weight loss! Your workout schedule sounds brutal...keep up the good work!

c'mon jinx, you're being too modest. you've been carrying LJ for how many years now?

99 44/100% pure 08-11-2004 11:58 AM

OMG  Jinx: 108 LJ: 265

That sounds dangerous!

In my heyday:
bench: 175
squat: 225
deadlift: 265

Now: Weigh almost as much as I used to bench *sigh*

Trilby 08-11-2004 12:09 PM

Radar--I've seen your pix--you've got nothing to apologize for--you are a cutie and your wife knows it, so please, relax--(except good work on the work-out/diet thing)because she married you because she LIKES you!

How novel! I'm pleased as punch for you!

Male, 5'7", circa 150lb.

Radar 08-11-2004 03:49 PM

Thanks Brianna! That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me online. :D

I still should be in shape though, because once she gets here, richer and better looking guys will try to take her away. I went to a club here in LA with my last girlfriend and had my arm around her and guys were walking up to her and hitting on her right in front of me. And the worst part is when they'd come up and ask her name, she'd talk to them and tell them and stuff instead of saying, "Do you see the arm around my shoulders? That's my boyfriends arm, and if you value your safety, you shouldn't come over here and hit on me right in front of him."

Oh well, she's my EX-girlfriend for a reason.

My wife tells me all the time not to work out too much. I think she doesn't want me to look too good if she's not here to keep an eye on me. Also she told me she loves me no matter what I look like.

Yep, "we" DO have a weight problem here. With a BMI just over 19, you're right on the ragged edge of underweight. I suggest adding more steak to your diet.

Lady Sidhe is 5'8" and 100 pounds when wet.

How much Do you weigh?

Had a look at a size to weight ratio scale chart and what do you know I'm the correct weight for some one thats 7 foot 2inches..pity I'm only 5 foot six.
Built for comfort not for speed :D

Well, I may be on the "ragged edge of underweight," but I look pretty decent in a bikini, if I do say so myself. Plus, most of the models out there are like 5'10", 115. Now that's too skinny. Thanks, but I'll skip the steak.

DanaC 08-11-2004 05:44 PM

I dunno what I am when wet *grins* All my measurements are taken fully clothed and wearing trainers. I dont have a set of scales so the last time I weighed was about 3 weeks ago when I had to have some treatment done under deep sedation

65 pounds less than I weighed in January......

And that figure is nunya.

Sun_Sparkz 08-11-2004 06:41 PM

I am 5'7" and weigh 50 Kilograms. i have been this height and weight for the last 5 years, no matter how much exercise i do, what i eat, when i eat it.. i'm always the same. maybe when i age a little that will change, but for now i'm pretty happy with that!

My partner is 6'5" and weighs just over 100 Kilograms. So we are a bit like jinx and LJ in the weight ratio department!

zippyt 08-11-2004 09:11 PM

6' 2" 265 lbs , To damn much road chow (driveing and munching) all that weight helps when i have to shuffel a 1000lb test weight accross the floor , or twist a big wrench .

5'6'' and 150lb. Yuck! I've never been this heavy in my life - usually I weigh in at around 130. Need to hit the old walking trails again. Maybe get myself another Corgi for inspiration.

They are very "gamey." Corgi's are the most playful little dogs ever and make wonderful companions. My last one was a champion walker despite his short legs. Cheesecake is all I need to make it to a whopping 160 - double yuck!

i know i was just kidding about the corgi. i meant use the cheesecake (read whatever food you view as a reward) as something to be earned. if you work hard enough to get to x lbs then you deserve x prize. the most important thing in any effort we make is that we have rewards (even if they are small) waiting at several milemarkers between where you are and the goal you are trying to achieve.

Dagney 08-12-2004 12:50 PM

Lookout, you're right about giving yourself an incentive to get to a certain point. For each 5 pounds I've lost so far on my WW Program, I purchase myself one silver charm for my charm bracelet. It's awfully sparkly now - and I love it. Each time I look at it, I remind myself of how far I've come. (And I have fun explaining each charm to people who ask....there's a stick of butter (.25 pounds), a bag of flour (5 pounds), and a bar of chocolate (the calorie free kind I can actually have around!)

lookout123 08-12-2004 12:50 PM

good going dagney

marichiko 08-12-2004 12:56 PM

Hooray for you, Dagny! A Corgi would be both my incentive AND my reward. Cardigan Corgi's are big dogs in a small package, and they need to be exercised. A Corgi would be a constant reminder to stay with my exercise program, and the doggie love I'd get in return would be the reward!

beavis 08-12-2004 06:07 PM

Almost my measurements too, g.

What I do like is that I carry most of the weight up top - broad shoulders, thick chest, lil' bit of a spare tire ... not much on the waist, fortunately. But it's probably because now I cycle all the time, rather than lifting and running all the time back in my tennis and track days.

And 150 miles makes me want to vomit. I rode 60 last weekend and totally bonked ... just not the same riding laps around central park versus the mountainous regions of central NJ.

I'm carrying some waste around the waist but we'll take it slow. It'll be 100 miles Saturday followed by 50 Sunday. It's a charity thing so all I have to do is rein in the competitive nature... I'm so screwed.
