So, no problem, you can go back & edit your posts.

Seeing as how I've never seen any of the movies on that list..... I take the zero.

Griff 02-23-2004 07:00 PM

You should check em out OC lottsa good stuff there. That said I prolly picked the most commercial one... O Brother...

Brigliadore 02-23-2004 07:09 PM

I voted for Raising Arizona but really I like several of those. The Hudsucker Proxy has been on cable a few times over the last few weeks and despite having seen it a million times I still enjoy watching it. That goes for several of their movies, Fargo with the wood chipper, good times man.

Happy Monkey 02-23-2004 08:43 PM

Whichever one I saw most recently...

Undertoad 02-23-2004 08:48 PM

I love Raising Arizona. Every scene is so perfectly done... every frame, almost.

Ima go with Fargo cause sister Marge son of a Gunderson rocks. You betcha. And William Macy, Steve Buchemi- perfect. I love the music too. Lots of MN references- from WCCO, to Old Dutch chips, to Gopher hockey.

I didnt get Barton Fink at all. too mythological or sumthin. all that fire.

wolf 02-24-2004 12:29 AM

Since I only had one vote it went to Raising Arizona. However, I've enjoyed each of those movies that I've seen. Fargo is awesome, and while I had some hesitation about seeing O Brother Where Art Thou, it was just as clever as their earlier films.

xoxoxoBruce 02-24-2004 12:48 AM

Had to go with Oh Brother especially for the harmonies. I loved Raising Arizona but I'll never forgive him for ruining Peggy Sue Got Married. :) I also liked Hudsucker but I can't forgive him for marrying my sweetheart.:haha:

Fargo Got my vote, I just saw it for the first time last week, very good movie.

How did I miss this thread?

Not only is "The Big Lebowski" my favourite Cohen Bros. movie, it may well be my favourite movie of all friggin' time.

the part where he punches the brother in law, and has to walk like 10 steps to pick him up and shake him kills me every time, and the exploding paint inside the car!......

Oh man, I didn't even know who these guys were 'til I connected them with Nic Cage last night.

Raising Arizona is one of the funniest damn things I've ever watched.

I'll be taking these Huggies....

Undertoad 03-01-2004 09:29 AM

The greatest chase scene ever filmed!

I had a long discussion with some fairly bright friends, and we tried to figure out where the hell The Big Lebowski came from. What kind of mind inspired all the weird shit that goes on in that movie?
The Cohens themselves say that they don't know what the film is about, and that the tale is simply that, a tale.
Our conclusion: they linked together a bunch of stories that have all happened, and created a meta-narrative about life through these reediculous shorts.
Or, that might have been the Jameson talking.

"If he was a lazy man, and the Dude was most certainly that. Quite possibly the laziest in Los Angeles county, which would place him high in the running for laziest in the world."

godwulf 03-15-2004 12:35 PM

The poll is closed, but the results reflect my own feelings so well, I'd be hard pressed to feel deprived.

A tie between 'Raising Arizona' (the first CB film I saw, and which I've probably watched between 30 and 40 times) and 'The Big Lebowski', with 'Oh Brother...' coming in a close second.

On the other hand, I saw most of 'The Man Who Wasn't There' on cable the other day, and I would have been shocked if anyone had voted for that movie - what a godawful piece of crap.

Probably my favorite line from 'Lebowski': "No, Walter, you're not wrong, you're just an asshole!"

Probably the best line from a generally forgettable 'Intolerable Cruelty': when Clooney and his fastidious assistant are in the greasy spoon diner, and the assistant asks the waitress if she has a green salad, and she says, "What the fuck color would it be?"

That line gets repeated a lot in the Perth/Case household. Just out of the blue. That and "I don't want FOP, goddamit! I'm a Dapper Dan Man!" from "Oh Brother".
