Guilty Pleasures

We all know we're not supposed to eat canned foods but some are too good to avoid. My two are Hormel Chili with beans and that German Potato Salad. mmmm...that's some good salty food! What health disaster are you guys sucking down?

Happy Monkey 02-16-2004 11:56 AM

Kitsune 02-16-2004 02:04 PM

Canned Spaghetti -- I have no idea why I like it so much, but its way too tasty to give up.

Telefunken 02-16-2004 02:20 PM

Cosmopolitans. They taste good and I don't care if they're pink.

Cheetos Baked and Fried.

I am a nutritionist's nightmare.

It has been quite a while since I partook of any of the above. I may have a freakout and go for it.

mrnoodle 02-16-2004 05:15 PM

Muffalettas (sp?) from Jason's Deli. Pure salt. MMM.

Hand-drawn Punjabi Pale Ale from a local microbrewery. They take it out niiiice and slooow so you get every last impurity. It's so damn good.

An explanation

xoxoxoBruce 02-18-2004 10:16 AM

Complete version.

Slartibartfast 02-18-2004 11:20 AM

Down the local main commericial street of my town, these little hispanic resturaunts offer deep fried bite-sized chunks of pork. It's layers of fat and meat, kind of like bacon only not cut in slices, rather in chunks.

Sprinkle on lots of salt... great stuff!

warch 02-18-2004 11:45 AM

Yeasty popcorn! ummm. Was quite adicted to that at one point and the yeast gave me a healthy and glossy coat.

My latest is 1/2 stick of butter, and 1/2 c large grated Parm reggiano, salt and pepper. Chew on all kernals and lick bowl clean.

Bread. bread. cheese. bread. peanutbutter. bread. butter. bread. bread. crackers. cheese. repeat.

bacon bacon bacon

Ultra decadence:
Warm butter and maple syrup drenched french toast made with sliced cinnamon roll.

Happy Monkey 02-18-2004 12:24 PM

Food Porn

Home made apple pie - with a warm filling made of soft, but firm, chunks of golden delicious apples and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg, covered with a crust that gives only the slightest bit of resistence as your fork enters it. Next to your generous slice of pie is a scoop of vanilla bean Haggan Daaz Ice cream just starting to melt a little from the inviting warmth right next to it.

They make it that way at Ruby's Diner ... King of Prussia Mall. It opens for breakfast before the mall starts business.

xoxoxoBruce 02-18-2004 11:23 PM

A friend of mine gets me maple syrup from her brother who runs the UConn forestry program. My uncle sends me whole grain and cinnamon/raisin bread from a place in MA that uses good stuff and no preservatives. I make a mean french toast. No wonder I'm fat. :haha:

elSicomoro 02-19-2004 06:39 PM

I had a chicken mole burrito from Santa Fe Burrito at One Liberty Place today. It's a bit on the pricey side ($7), but it's mighty good!

I bake chunks of sharp cheddar cheese in mine... mmmm heart attack.

xoxoxoBruce 02-20-2004 12:22 AM

My Uncle slices the Winesap or Stamen apples flat, not wedged, then lays them into the lower shell as tight as he can fit them together. Pile them up to twice the height of the shell and lay the upper crust over. When it comes out the oven the filling is up to the height of the dish. Good stuff.:)

warch 02-20-2004 11:04 AM

RE: Yeasty popcorn- you can get nutritional brewers yeast usually near the hippie bulk produce. Flakey sprinkled over warm popcorn it creates an addictive, sweet nutty, buttery, taste. Some (such as mr. warch) do not dig this at all.

Ummmmmmmm. Ok, first youre at the lake, on the porch at sunset...(all better porn includes some sort of setting before the funky music is cued up)

Thirsty, golden slices of all butter pound cake, soaked with warm, ripe, sliced peaches and fresh picked blackberries that have been poached and reduced into a red wine syrup, spiked with cinnamon and vanilla, and topped with dollop of creme fresh. And the cream is melting quickly so you better shut up and get busy...

zippyt 02-20-2004 10:45 PM
