google chumming

uh huh

let's raise the bar. We made the cellar #1 for whale penis . And not to take anything away from that accomplishment, I'm thinking that "whale penis" might not be all that common a phrase.

Suppose we try a little bit more common phrase and see what we're really made of?

ideas?

pjshimmer 02-12-2004 11:10 PM

how about de la noche

GOOGLE ...Results 1 - 10 of about 493,000

lumberjim 02-12-2004 11:18 PM

we could do sycamore

i didn't see that thread before i posted this one. kind of redundant....

Cam 02-13-2004 12:54 PM

Now I'm thinking this isn't possible, probably setting ambitions a touch too high but why not become number one for Google.

juju 02-13-2004 01:05 PM

What kind of a person goes to google and searches for google?

Cam 02-13-2004 01:15 PM

Yeah really what kind of a freak even thinks of such a thing. Oh crap that was me.

Griff 02-13-2004 02:06 PM

how about prehensile?

pre·hen·sile
adj.

Adapted for seizing, grasping, or holding, especially by wrapping around an object: a monkey's prehensile tail.
Having keen intellect; insightful.
Greedy; grasping.

SteveDallas 02-13-2004 02:35 PM

Excellent. I'm in favor.

I just checked stevedallas (all one word) it a post from sycamore's board shows up at #6! (And before anybody asks, I am not related to the Steve Dallas Photography that also comes up.)

elSicomoro 02-13-2004 06:11 PM

You know, I searched for "Google" earlier today, just to see what I'd get...

Google is an amazing beast. Look at the people that found my board b/c of Noble House and the Motorola T720 phone.

If you look up "undertoad," our very own version comes up at #4.

xoxoxoBruce 02-15-2004 10:05 PM

I think you people have too much time on your hands.

jaguar 03-02-2004 11:46 AM

I thought that was taken for granted.

hot_pastrami 03-02-2004 12:07 PM

I Googled for hot_pastrami, and the first three were all me, baby. Hot damn.

Trillian-zz9 03-02-2004 01:14 PM

I searched for trillian-zz9 and both results were the cellar.:band:

Happy Monkey 03-02-2004 01:26 PM

Heh. I'm #6, #13, and #18. Pretty good for such a common phrase.

this was second for lumberjim

it used to be first. now, my work's website is first.

hmmmmmm

btw....that's NOT me

wolf 03-02-2004 01:40 PM

One has to ask exactly HOW you managed to get your handle attached to your employer's website, particularly when that name does not show up on the homepage itself, which is what google links to.

lumberjim 03-02-2004 01:46 PM

i dunno.

possibly because i have it listed in my cellar profile as my webpage?

wolf 03-02-2004 01:47 PM

I was thinking that as well ...

Yeah, that's how Google ranks pages... by the number of other pages that link to it. The Cellar automatically creates the little WWW button to link to your homepage every time you post, so threads that you participate in are rife with links to that URL. That's the same reason that www.alanbellows.com is the top ranked page for hot_pastrami.

Torrere 03-02-2004 03:56 PM

You know, our Cellar is #6 when searching for 'cellar' on Google.

And my homepage is #59 when searching for my first name (aargh!), but #4 when searching for 'Torrere'.

mrnoodle 03-06-2004 01:00 PM

I'm only #6 when I search for "mrnoodle", and the only hit is from some post in the sycamore manifestos.

A guy in Oregon who's trying to score recreational gay sex appears like 5 times.

A page where you can buy an Elmo and Mr. Noodle doll set is in there, but the pics won't load.

Overall, I'm disappointed.
