Here is our well-loved friend Strawberry Q. Hamster:

She got sick yesterday and passed away about 2:00AM Eastern time in my wife's arms.

Here are some more pictures from this Summer - please scroll through and notice how beautiful she is / was

http://www.provider1.com/hammyoutside/index.html

I think we kept the house too cold - don't do that friends - keep your rodents warm.

We appreciate prayers for Strawberry and every living thing that passed and passes on.

Thanks,

Petecart

FileNotFound 12-04-2003 10:44 AM

Well imo 3 years is about how long a hamster/mouse is likley to live anyway.

Also, the best(Cheapest) way to keep a rodent warm is to have more than one rodent...

preacherswife2u 12-04-2003 10:48 AM

Wow, what a sweet little thing. That is sad, I know. Our son's hamster (Angel...whom we later found out to be Angelino...) developed thyroid cancer, if you can believe that! We had to have him put down. My dc have really had a hard time with that. I know Strawberry will be missed.

Good Call My Friend - rodent heated by rodent - I like it.

Thanks.

FileNotFound 12-04-2003 10:53 AM

I used to have pet mice for about 4 years.

The only thing that sucked about them is that once they matured they very rarley came out to play during the day. The young ones are fun though.

Imagine 5 mice trying to run in an excercise wheel in different directions...ther 3 or 4 eventualy overpower the other 2 or 1 and they end up getting spun around the other way. One of the funniest things I ever saw.

petecart 12-04-2003 11:40 AM

4 way mice wheels

That is a very funny image - the mice all running aboot in different directions - it cheered me up to think about it and for that I thank you a lot.

It's weird to be a meat-eating, Scarface quoting man who sits at his desk at work crying about a little hammy - but I don't care.

Here's one more nice photo.

insoluble 12-04-2003 06:53 PM

perhaps twizzlers weren't the best dietary choice?

very cute though - RIP Strawberry

xoxoxoBruce 12-04-2003 08:16 PM

Couldn't bear the thought of another Vermont winter I guess.

Undertoad 12-05-2003 12:44 AM

Twizzlers are only for goats!

wolf 12-05-2003 12:51 AM

And ferrets.

insoluble 12-05-2003 12:55 AM

I thought aluminum cans were for goats and twizzlers were for fishes.

Hate? We don't got no hate. We don't need no stinkin' hate!:)

LUVBUGZ 12-09-2003 10:30 AM

Pete, Sorry to hear about Miss Strawberry. She is so cute, I love her little white paws. May she rest in peace.

wolf 12-09-2003 10:56 AM

1. If you want to post in a color, use black. It is an extremely nice color. If you have to tell yourself that its some color other than black, try out "Deep Charcoal Grey" or "Ebony Velvet."

2. You are not STILL playing MTG? That is SOOOOO prior millenium.

I don't see anything wrong with sea-green. OC already uses purple, my favorite color, so I'm using green, my second favorite color. You got a problem with green? Just trying to brighten up the place.

2. You are not STILL playing MTG? That is SOOOOO prior millenium.

Yeah, I'm a kick-ass MTG duelist. While you must be spending your free time at the asylum trying to master Yu-Gi-Oh and Neopets. :worried:

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 11:24 AM

MTG was cool...now it's lame.

Especialy online...

It's too comercialized. They're poping out insane cards like crazy in order to make old decks obsolete.

It's like every release they create a new killer strategy along with 500 cards that defeat the killer strategy from the older releases.

Rinse & Repeat

LUVBUGZ 12-09-2003 11:40 AM

In your best Gollum voice....."Yes, but Precious love MTG".

Actually, FNF I agree. I don't know shit about MGT except that it's a stupid card game. All those dumb games are stupid. I was just shocked, not really:rolleyes: , that after all this time Wolf still hates me even though I never did shit to her. My friend told me what to write. :p
Peace out:joint:
PS...UT, I love the new smilies:joylove:

Your ignorance is baffling.

So let me get this straight.

You know nothing about MTG except you somehow assume that it's a stupid card game.

How ignorant is that? How about this. I know nothing about you, except that your a retard. I had my doubts. They're gone.

But you go on and you say that "All those dumb games are stupid."

What's that supposed to mean?

That all dumb games are stupid? Well yeah dumb does kinda equal stupid, so if a game is dumb it might also be said to be stupid.

Or are you trying to say that all card games are dumb and thus stupid?

I'm confused...

LUVBUGZ 12-09-2003 12:04 PM

Baffling ignorance is the best kind of ignorance, it keeps the unignorant, such as yourself, busy for hours trying to figure it out. It's amazing how the "highly intelligent" can be confused so easily.

What I know about MTG is that it is stupid.

BTW, give up the "retard" thing it's been way over used around here.

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 12:14 PM

So, in your short time here you have designated yourself as the mouthpiece for the group. How nice for you. Been spelling long? :p

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 12:37 PM

I find it odd that you choose to attack me based on a typo.
Maybe I shouldn't have ignored your idiotic misspelling of MTG as MGT. Yet I figured a minor typo was not something to judge a person by. I suppose you're too stupid to realize that.

While there maybe a few people who want you back, I found more that didn't. Don't get yourself flattered, I just wanted to know who this "retarded LUVBUGZ" was, the one that was so kindly asked to consume fesses and cease to metabolize...

If memory serves me right the one person who did expect/want you back was OnyxCougar.

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 12:53 PM

The problem is colors like these. This is almost invisible on the gray background. As is this. This isn't much better. Nor is this retarded sea-green, one of the FOUR green options that LUVBUGZ chose to use.

I find it "odd" that you choose to "attack" me at all since you don't know shit about me.
MTG, MGT, MSG....it's all the same in my book.
Give up trying to be the next Dave, you suck at it.
:p

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 01:04 PM

I have no interest in being the next dave.

I chose to attack you because of your ignorance.

I had no prejudice towards you. In fact I was intrigued by your claim that you were a good MTG dueler.

Nothing gets me as upset as ignorance; to me nothing is worse than somebody who is in fact proud of being ignorant.

You are either proud of being ignorant or you are a troll as "Baffling ignorance is the best kind of ignorance, it keeps the unignorant, such as yourself, busy for hours trying to figure it out." might suggest.

Either way, your kind of personality offends me. Nothing is worse than a person who casts judgments and then proclaims them about a subject that they're totally in the dark about.

Oh and by the way, 'unignorant' is not a word, the proper would be "informed", "knowledgeable" or "educated". I suppose those three words are very much new to you.

juju 12-09-2003 01:12 PM

You're reducing the contrast between the your words and the background, making them harder to read.

It annoys me that OnyxCougar does it, too. I just highlight her posts with my mouse to negate the coloring.

When you buy a novel, is the background grey and the type purple or green? No! Think about it -- there's a reason for that. It's called contrast.

LUVBUGZ 12-09-2003 01:13 PM

I've been keeping you busy for the last two hours though, retread. :p

Can't count either I take it....only three green options available, dumb-ass.

Yeah, I'm a kick-ass MTG duelist. While you must be spending your free time at the asylum trying to master Yu-Gi-Oh and Neopets.

It's damn near unreadable.

OC, as I understand, actually speaks purple, and therefore is permitted such usage by concensus here.

It would appear that the concensus regarding your use of seagreen or as you won't recall blue58's attempt to use blue, is that this is not cool.

I am admittedly old and unhip. I do not play Yu-Gi-Oh or Neopets, and actually have no clue what either entails. I do announce with pride, however, that I have entered the Pokemon League Hall of Fame by beating the Elite Four (and Gary) on the Indigo Plateau in Pokemon Blue.

Oh, and don't flatter yourself. I don't hate you. You don't deserve that energy.

juju 12-09-2003 01:17 PM

I am of the strong opinion that the colors should be taken away. I guess that's probably not a vBulletin option, though.

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 01:22 PM

Oh and LUVBUGZ, please don't flatter yourself thinking that you've kept me busy for 2 hours.

While it may take you 2 hours to respond to a post, I assure you that I have not spent more than 3 minutes on each response to you.

I'm sorry to say but you wasted not much more than 20 minutes of my life if that.

wolf 12-09-2003 01:28 PM

dictionary.com tells us that teal is

1. Any of several small, short-necked freshwater ducks, especially of the genus Anas, that feed on the surface of the water and often have brightly marked plumage.

2. A moderate or dark bluish green to greenish blue.

It's green.

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 01:29 PM

Teal is a variant of green.

As is "sea green" and "lime green"
Quote:

teal

n 1: a shade of green tinged with blue [syn: bluish green] 2: any of various small short-necked dabbling river ducks of Europe and America

LUVBUGZ 12-09-2003 01:47 PM

"If" teal were a "variant of green", following the Cellar's color options line of labeling greens, it would be called "teal green".

Teal is labeled as teal.

The "description" of teal, for those who aren't familiar with the color, is bluish green to greenish blue as Wolf has so graciously pointed out (with supporting proof).

According to your line of thought, teal could just as easily be a "variant of blue".

I never realized that the color naming scheme used on a forum can be used to define colors. Will you also argue that silver is not a shade of gray?

Teal is a shade of green. Teal is a shade of blue. In fact all the variants you listed are some shade of green and another color.

BUT since green is a the primary pigment in teal, teal is in fact a shade of green.

Oh and yes, teal can be seen as a variant of blue. As can Sea-green. But that’s not according to me but the accepted standards of primary pigments and color schemes. You did take an art class in school right? I suppose the real question is, “Did you learn anything in the art class you took in school?”.

When you really get down to it, EVERY color in the world can be described as either a variant of red, green and blue or cyan, magenta, yellow, (black). That’s the two variants of the 'primary pigments', commonly referred to a RGB and CMY(K). Oh and K is black and is in () because it's not exactly needed as a pigment but used in printing as a primary pigment to use less ink.

Of course you don't know this..because you're ignorant.

Whit 12-09-2003 02:09 PM

      Sigh, where to start....
Sorry for your loss Pete. Pets can become very much a part of your life and really throw things out of whack when they are gone.

Ok, for the rest of it. Wolf, Juju, wtf? You guys know that a special thread was made in Cellar area to deal with Bugz. Specificaly to prevent this type of thread pollution. Yes, I know the real concern was keeping it out of IOTD threads, as that is all a lot of lurkers view. Still, a guy comes on to talk about the death of his pet and we get a long list of posts of the usual Bugz problems? Move it over people.
For the new guys, I suggest you go back and read that thread. Might give you an idea of what dealing with Bugz is going to be like.

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 02:12 PM

Whit, no offense but the guy who originally posted the cute although now dead hamster hasn't shown his face for the past 4 days.

If he or the now dead hamster is upset about this 'post pollution' I'm certain that they can speak for themselves...well maybe not the hamster.

Whit 12-09-2003 02:17 PM

It's really not about that, FNF. You see, this tends to be the way of almost any thread Bugz posts in. Thus it's best to ignore her in the thread and deal with her seperately, in a thread made for it. Otherwise it gets the mess everywhere. That's all.

Dagney 12-09-2003 02:22 PM

Shhhh Whit, she'll claim you're attacking her again.

Need my Kevlar?

FileNotFound 12-09-2003 02:25 PM

Fine I'll just ignore the ignorant ‘sea green’ abomination. There is no hope of any intelligent thoughts being produced by her during a discussion anyway.

Whit 12-09-2003 02:30 PM

Nah, Dagney, I declared peace because I hated wasting what little free time I had on this kind of crap. I intend to maintain it.

FNF, that's cool. Good luck with that. You've got to figure though, if someone as mellow as Juju is ready to attack... Nah, the best I'll ask for is moving it off the main boards so we can actually continue whatever discussion is at hand.

juju 12-09-2003 02:32 PM

I'm sorry.

Dagney 12-09-2003 02:33 PM

Tis about how I feel Whit - too many important things in life to worry about - I don't stress about what color someone uses to post to a message board. And if it annoys me, I just don't read it.

(I tend to skip a LOT of posts some days)

Something unusual is in the air the past few weeks. Too much bickering, infighting, and anger floating around for my comfort.

Sounds about time to head to Tahiti with a mai tai and a good book. (I think I need to take Brian with me *G*)

Dagney

petecart 12-09-2003 03:53 PM

Guy w/ dead hamster speaks on text colors

Hello Folks,

No I have not posted for four days - but I am reading.

I'll get flamed for saying this but text colors in this forum don't bother me much - if I really need to read it then a drag of the mouse across the text generally makes it readable.

Don't think that because I don't post does not mean that I am not reading.

Thank you Luvbugs and Whit for chiming in nicely. We appreciate your kind words.

Now it's dark.

program ends
