NSFW - Proof That I Am Incredibly Shallow

1 Attachment(s)
I try to resist pop culture, but when pop culture pulls out a 2 x 6 and slaps me upside the head with it, I find it sort of difficult to ignore.

Ladies, I apologize for the inherent sexism in this post, but...damn! I mean, DAMN!!!

From the November Esquire, gentlemen, I give you Brittney Spears pulling down her drawers.

I don't care if she can sing. I don't care if she can dance. I don't care if 12 Photoshop artists spent 150 hours on this shot. I just don't care. Because I am shallow.

SteveDallas 10-27-2003 02:43 PM

:vomit:

Please. I'm sorry, as a red-blooded American heterosexual male, I do not by any means object to the presentation of women with little or no clothing. But I've got some standards. Britney spears? Ick.

:vomit:

Elspode 10-27-2003 02:48 PM

I know. I know. This is a case of "I really tried to tell myself she was just hideous, simply awful", but something more primal overrode my good sense.

I told you...I am shallow, and I now have proof.

dave 10-27-2003 02:48 PM

What-ev-ar, KB. I would bone the shit out of her, take half an hour to recuperate, and then do it again. Good lord.

dave 10-27-2003 02:49 PM

How is she hideous? She's an average girl of average intelligence that happens to be quite attractive in make-up. So her music isn't great. BFD.

breakingnews 10-27-2003 03:00 PM

I think I just jizzed in my pants.

Oops, I did it again.

e unibus plurum 10-27-2003 03:08 PM

some more here :)

russotto 10-27-2003 03:46 PM

My compliments to the 12 photoshop artists.

juju 10-27-2003 04:28 PM

Her singing and dancing abilities are amazing. The songs the record industry make her sing are really not that good.

juju 10-27-2003 04:30 PM

Thank god those beads are there. Otherwise it would be pornographic.

And a fine standard it is, too.:)

Steve,
Now, you may think what you want about Ms Spears talent and demeanor. The fact is, if she wasn't better than average looking, you never would have had the chance to make a judgement. That's been true in Show Business ever since "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr DeMille".;)

Elspode 10-27-2003 07:09 PM

The latter chick is hot, that's true...but she's not wearing beads over her bulging breasts while pulling down her knickers, is she?

Not half shallow enough for me.

elSicomoro 10-27-2003 07:11 PM

If my standards were lower, I'd fuck the shit out of Britney Spears regardless of how crappy her music is...b/c she is hot. But given what she does, that's a turn-off to me.

breakingnews 10-27-2003 09:59 PM

Standards, schmandards - a good-looking girl will give just about any straight male on this planet a solid hard-on.

Katie Couric, for example, is what, 40? She looked SO FUCKING HOT on Jay Leno the other night. Her legs are amazing!

Now Couric's brains might give me a telepathic boner, but Britney Spears rubbing her *shudder* breasts in my face would do, at that precise moment, the exact same effect.

I do believe, however, that everyone is beautiful in their own ways. I hardly ever turn down a female (except those big booty kind ;) ) - there's something about that feminine touch that always rubs me the right way. I'll admit that I'm extremely attracted to older women ... I've dated two in their 30s and I'm having a tough time going back.

Yeah, but what did she do to EARN the beads in the first place? ;)

SteveDallas 10-28-2003 08:57 AM

Thanks DNK, good catch ;)

I don't object to Britney's lack of talent. I object to the way she's been packaged.

You don't have to explain, I understand completly. The scale will keep expanding, (along with debts, waistline, etc.) as you go. If you're really lucky it'll expand to include any age, if their heads in the right place.
Forgive me...expanded ho-risin's. :D

You will reach that time in your life, about 30-35, when you will be checking out some hot chick in line at the grocery store, and also checking out her equally hot mom. The checker asked what I was so happy about...

So, Britney Spears. Don't really care about her music, and I'm not going to fight a billion years of evolution speaking to me.

P.S. the second chick is the babalicious Nikki Cox.

But I already do this ... heh. My best friend's sister AND mom are both incredibly hot (hot hot hot). He doesn't invite any of our friends over anymore because we flirt with them too much. :3eye:

I have to say that as a woman I'm glad to see this and the other sentiments.

I would have said she is fat. I would have said that from seeing so many skinny women held up as the icons of all things hot.

It seems that you guys have been brainwashed far less about this then us women.

dave 10-29-2003 09:05 AM

Hells yeah. I think the second example is pretty smokin' too. I like meat on the bones. As I've stated elsewhere numerous times, I don't like those super-skinny girls. EAT SOME FOOD!

Little bit of padding goes a long way. :)

Beletseri 10-29-2003 09:52 AM

Oh, I'm not skinny and probably never will be and in fact I am probably a bit thinner but not much than the babe. I bet I speak for many women though in saying that I always feel like I should be thinner.

dave 10-29-2003 09:59 AM

Yeh, you guys need not worry about that. Any guy that doesn't like how you look isn't worth your time anyway, but most guys will, so you still have quite the selection to choose from.

kerosene 10-29-2003 10:47 AM

Ooh, the weight/perception topic. I always find this interesting.

Recently I started making a concerted effort to lose some weight. Over 2 months I managed to lose about 29 lbs so far. Now, I had not intended to make this an experiment on human perception, but you would think I had, as now, almost everyone I interract with already acts differently toward me. But also, my attitude has certainly undergone revision as a result of my weight loss. Now, then my question is: Are they really reacting different to me because of my change in weight, or are they reacting to my change in attitude? Interesting thought. Is it the weight that matters, or the self attitude? Or might it be a combination of both?

Case

perth 10-29-2003 10:53 AM

I think its because you're hot.

perth 10-29-2003 10:55 AM

Honestly, though, I suspect its more about your attitude / body language. You're carrying yourself better, which is partly an effect of the weight loss, but more because your self-image is stronger.

Whats wrong with a big booty???!!!!!

And I have to say - Britney Spears - as long as she keeps her mouth shut - YUM.

More cushin for the pushin?? I mean seriously - even the strippers that I have seen get better tips if they have more meat on their bones. I mean - who wants to bang something that is so skinny and boney that it feels like you are banging a concrete wall? This is my thing that I don't like about skinny guys too.

SteveDallas 10-29-2003 11:11 AM

Hmmm interesting discussion (that I certainly never intended to start indirectly! )... and makes me wonder:

Are the women pictured in "women's" magazines skinnier than the ones pictures in "men's" magazines?

I think they're different.

I could be totally wrong, but women's magazines tend to have women that are overall stick-thin.

Male reading rags have chicks with huge tits n asses, who are probably consequently a little thicker. Of course, everyone carries the weight differently.

Shit - totally just got busted by my editor dickin around here ...

dave 10-29-2003 11:20 AM

This is one of the reasons I like having an office, not a cubicle. I can shut the door and take a nap if I want, and the browsing is basically unmonitored.

Actually, I have in fact been using local forums and blogs for research and story ideas. If anyone is willing, I can post things I'm struggling with and see if y'all got any helpful input.

I'm working on a big package about clean energy - namely wind and hydrogen power. Biggest wind farm in PA was just opened up in Scranton, largest farm (currently operating) east of the Mississppi. Apparently there are hydrogen fuel cell development labs littered throughout the Philly region - some of the largest worldwide. And with Energy shit going on in capitol hill, has some timely significance too.

BrianR 10-29-2003 12:11 PM

As of Friday I will be living within farting distance of Scranton...I can check it out for ya. Just tell me where to look and what you want. I got no press credentials, but I'm thorough and nosy. When I want to be that is. Plus I can offer the local take on it. You know, the human interest stuff like who'se farm went under and who is mad because of the truck trafic and so forth.

Brian

Undertoad 10-29-2003 12:13 PM

Good discussions of alternative energy always at USS Clueless, here for example.

The gent is an engineer, although he has a communications background. But he does put a lot of thought into his pieces. That piece suggests you should ask the people in Scranton whether they think they'll kill birds, and whether they can help with the usage peaks on hot summer afternoons. And what the price is per kwh compared to other sources.

breakingnews 10-29-2003 12:21 PM

Windmills kill a small number of birds compared to the shit that pollutes our planet from coal burning or nuclear plants.

Pricing is now competitive with regular sources, and will only become cheaper as it grows. 0.01% of national energy is wind. 2% overall is clean energy sources.

Actually, farmers in midwest plains are making upwards of $10k per month (and more) for turbine placement. And it doesn't affect crop grwoth at all.

FUCK YEAH - I just got invited to try a new military combat flight simulator. Centrifuge that can spin up to 7 Gs. THat's cool as shit.

Lawdha'mercy, it took me sooooo goddamned long to realize that. I was so busy worrying about what guys thought of me and how I looked because I'm overweight. Glad I got a clue later in life (ironically, right around the time I met Sycamore...see what good karma can do? LOL). :D

Ah, at least you were honest about your shallowness (is that a word? lol).

Anyway, the pic is hot, IMO. People get so upset about her and her music and what not. I say who the fuck cares? There are more important things in life to worry about.

And damn is right: she may not be the greatest singer (and neither is Madonna), but they BOTH photograph well. :)

dave 10-30-2003 06:11 AM

Madonna's teeth mortify me.

I just saw an interview with Tom Wopat and John Schneider about the new Dukes of Hazzard movie. They were asked if Britney would be a good choice to play Daisy Duke. Schneider commented that the "Madonna thing" disqualified her from consideration.

Tsk Tsk. How provincial.

whew, for a minute there, it looked like this thread was dissolving into a clean energy debate!

glad to see we can stay on topic.

yeah.... uh huh.... im shallow too.

I don't usually go for the barbie doll look, but el is right. that speaks to a hetero male at such a basic level, that it is irrellevant WHO it is. Also, that particular photo is very artful in its composition and, i suspect, even women would find it attractive.

great googly moogly

Beletseri 11-18-2003 07:23 AM

The photos are esthetically pleasing at first glance but after thinking about it for a minute or two, I'm pretty well convinced that they glued those beads to her boobs just to make it easier to get the shots. That has me feeling itchy in sympathy.

juju 11-18-2003 07:44 AM

Ever notice how women think that they know whether or not other women are cute, but they really don't? Men and women have very different ideas about whether or not women are attractive. And yet, I have never, ever convinced a single woman of this. They always say that they know whether or not a woman is cute, and that is the end of it.
