What's your best GIS (Google Image Search) image?

Start with a personal/weird/funny phrase for searching. No fair using unoriginality. Best image gets a lick from the Roman War Dog...

Oh yeah, I forgot. Extra credit if your search terms include your screen name.

Here is what I found for Nothing But Net:

Here is what came up for Undertoad:

Funny, that's kind of the way I always imagined him. There are many good ones for UT, in fact. Check out the Chicago band for sure.

Undertoad 09-27-2003 08:09 AM

You imagined him as the green monster in the surf, or the fat bloated guy on the beach?

It looks like that Chicago band has undertoad.com and they are representin' it well. I actually listened to the MP3 they have at IUMA and it's interesting and original.

Well, since my handle is based on the word "spode", which my friends and I coined as a derogatory term for a vacuous moron whilst in junior high (only later to find out that it was in fact the name of a renowned family of china makers), I searched on that. The most interesting thing I found (besides gazillions of photos of awesome porcelain ware) *does* have a picture, but is more meaningful if you actually look at the whole page, http://jubal.westnet.com/hyperdiscordia/spode.html , which I find to be eerily appropriate.

I also discovered that there are crazed backcountry motocross free-for-alls called "Spodefests" in Idaho and Utah, and some trio of female musicians that have something or other to do with the word 'spode'.

Really, though, the most interesting single image I found was the one below, which depicts the Spode family tombs in England.

This is why you don't go to the tourist steaks.

SteveDallas 09-27-2003 07:29 PM

"Steve Dallas" and variants return mostly Bloom County-related stuff, which I don't consider that interesting for purposes of this contest.

But "completely useless" brought up this one.

http://developer.novell.com/research.../cover0210.jpg

I confess, I didn't read enough of the page to discover a) why the words "completely" and "useless" were involved, and b) what a woman shooting a bow has to do with Novell development.

Those are really pathetic. I wonder how many people come to Philly and go home thinking Pats or Genos are what Philly is hooked on.:vomit:

Note to all non-Philadelphians: Pat's may be the most overrated cheesesteak place in town. Fucking horrible...eating your own feces might taste better.

For sycamore, well, the obvious:

For T-money, a photo of Rho shows up, though it is apparently no longer on Rho's website. Other than her, the search just shows a bunch of turds trying to gain fame off my name.

As you might imagine, my screen name turns up a whole lotta pages in German, most of them having to do with sighthounds - greyhounds, Borzoi, Afghans, Salukis, etc.

Then there's the 116th Panzer Division, for whom "Windhund" is apparently a nickname:

Turds? Oh, you must mean citizens of Turdistan.

Bitman is fairly common, let's see if any are interesting:

He's a captain, even.

There's even a gadget named after me.

So I guess the answer is .. no, not really.

Just asking, because I'm planning to be back in Philly within six months.

Yes it is. It appears to be a still from a movie that I don't intend to waste time watching, even if I'm really bored and it comes on USA network and there's nothing else on.

I really dig Roy Scheider.

Bruce, I love your pic. I'm sure you dig it because of the girl, but I love the dogs. Newfies are one of my favorite breeds. I've always wanted one, but about 15 years ago when I looked into buying one it was $1000 for a pet quality dog. I really love the Landseer, they are pretty rare in my neck of the woods. I have never seen a bronze Newf in real life. Your pic captures all three color's, COOL:blunt: :blunt: :blunt:

Thank god, something new to help me waste time at work. It's ironic - the more work I have to do, the less of it actually gets accomplished during the day. How long until my guilt stops making me work at home late at night?

Anyway, here is a photo from searching for "paper cut," which I did because I just got one.

Made me laugh, loud enough that my editor lifted her head and stared at me.

It is at this point where I would normally say "Ummmmm....hot pastrami...", but I don't want people thinking the wrong thing. You are, after all, a newlywed, and Mrs. Pastrami (who I am just going to assume is also Hot) doesn't need that kind of worry, I'm sure. :D

Oh, don't worry about THAT... long ago she had to come to peace with the fact that I am one DEAD SEXY hunk of well-seasoned meat that she has to share with the world.

(cough)

Well, OK... she's the looks in this outfit. And the brains.

That reminds me, I never posted any wedding pictures like I meant to... that way, you could all look at them and pretend not to be bored to tears about it. I'll try to remember to post one or two when I get home tonight.

Undertoad 10-06-2003 01:24 PM

Welcome b-news. You won't know the extent of work-based guilt, until you've worked for yourself and put off, for a month, a few hours of work that you know you could bill for $1000 the next day.

That only happened once, until I realized how utterly ridiculous I was being. Now, I only put off things like updates for our Sycamore's blog view web page. That, I can put off for weeks without feeling guilty at all, because he never emails me to ask where it is and when it will be done.

Also, my mom's website updates. That I can feel doubly guilty about because it's mom.

Yeah, I'm dreading the day my parents decide they want a web page. It's bad enough trying to support a computer & digitla camera by remote control.

I'd much rather have that - at least I can deal with a web site directly and on my own terms.

Try tech support overseas (my parents live in Taiwan): their computer, camera, etc., etc. are all in chinese, and they have equipment I've never even heard of before. And they call my brothers and me, 7,000 miles away, for help.

For the record: Jersey kicks ass. It inherits the best (what's available) of NYC and Philly, and we have damn good tomatos.

My parents moved here way back in the day, and when I left for college, they went back overseas. Therefore I am from the US, and I don't have self-esteem issues directly related to growing up in the shining star of this country. :3eye: e
