Pamela 01-08-2017 09:51 PM

I will be in Midway PA on Wednesday, all day. That is on I-78, for those who never heard of it.

I will be terrorizing New Yawk traffic the following morning, in Queens and all local roads from the Triboro bridge to the Javits center.

Midway PA is the big city just west of MacDonald. Pittsburgh is one of its suburbs. That is what they say in Midway.

That would be I-79, I-76, I-70, or US 22; not I-78.

Pamela 01-09-2017 07:59 PM

According to my GPS, it is just west of Hamburg, on I-78.

Who am I to argue?

xoxoxoBruce 01-09-2017 08:00 PM

Take it with a grain of tw. ;)

They navigate by McDonald's over there? One would think there would be too many....

xoxoxoBruce 01-09-2017 08:06 PM

McDonald, Pennsylvania.

tw 01-10-2017 11:52 AM

Midway, Pennsylvania
BTW, Ralph did a tremendous lamb roast. As do his sons today. People who know western PA know why Midway is a major center for western PA.

Hamburg is well known for a massive and famous hunting, fishing, camping store known as Cabelas. Located on 61 and I-78.

Also just north is the Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern rail station and yard. He did a superb job of restoring Port Clinton's station and many classic rail stock. He bought rail spurs as hobby. Became a major transporter of coal. But is making a fortune because his lines now service from the Wilkes Barre region to Reading - a preferred route from Canada to east coast ports by Canadian railroads. I only took notice because his rail infrastructure was so well maintained. Then discovered his other assets including a classic railroad station and scenic tours through the Leigh Gorge. It is how a railroad should operate.

Also in Hamburg is the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum. Its last opening for the season is Saturday and Sunday (Jan 14 & 15).

Don't know of any Midway in those townships. Also cannot recommend any 'best' places to eat. Just off I-81 (on the old US 22) is an Old Country Buffet. Not many left any more. Good food for a good price.

Meanwhile, you missing Ralph's lamb roast in Midway. Good time had by all. xoxoxoBruce was not invited.

We have that problem up here not with McDonalds but with a string of convenience stores called Stewarts. They are everywhere and all the towns around here look pretty much the same so the obvious landmark choice would be a convenience store on the corner where you need to turn, except there are too many. Their motto is "We are closer to you."

I think it would be funny if someone was following directions to a party and ended up at the wrong party and hung out for an evening with people they didn't know, assuming their friends hadn't shown up yet, or more likely up here, the people know their friends,

I have this weird feeling like i've mentioned this before.

Might make for a good Rom-Com

Pamela 01-10-2017 08:53 PM

Okay. I can't believe I'm saying this but..... tw is right and I was mistaken. Note the date on your calendars.

I am in Bethel, near Hamburg at the MIDWAY truck stop. Close but wrong.

Oh, I am SO ashamed!

xoxoxoBruce 01-10-2017 08:59 PM

Don't feel bad he preys on confused truckers. LOCK YOUR DOORS!

captainhook455 01-10-2017 10:33 PM

I was a trucker. Had my hazmats too. I will be in Altoona Thursday afternoon. The part is a used Rampage bike lift for $1400. It is used for loading a heavy assed bike in a pickup truck by ones self. I will be there just long enough to shoot the shit. Then it is 4.5 hrs to where Jim is. Like 13 hrs driving. There will be a permanent crease in the seat from my butt crack. Jim must think I'm fucking rich. Sent me links to a place only has 5 rooms. Then next link look like the motel next to the Crazy Horse. He finally says if you can't find anything you can stay with me. Wheeeeee hooooooo. It is a dream come true if he can stand me. My wife says I'm an.....well never mind what she says.

You'll have to be de-loused and approved by the housing committee, but this should be an interesting weekend.

I think maybe I'll invite a few other insane friends over to watch the game Sunday. Try to find out how awesome Amanda really is. I wouldn't have thought of attempting this with Shelby. She would have had none of this.

lumberjim 01-11-2017 01:51 AM

Ute/Jaqulita, Dave, Bruce... You guise have plans from 4-8 on Sunday?

Undertoad 01-11-2017 07:46 AM

Aaron Rodgers is a great QB with remarkable long ball accuracy

xoxoxoBruce 01-11-2017 10:07 AM

No can do, I've become quite fond of my lice. :haha:

You need to read what I posted. I pray FOR confused truckers.

lumberjim 01-11-2017 12:54 PM

De-lousing is only for over night guests of the dirty biker persuasion. And hippies, clean or dirty.

lumberjim 01-11-2017 12:57 PM

Seriously, though. Come watch the game, and meet tarheel. I'm not far away from you either, @wolf.

classicman 01-12-2017 09:04 PM

Damn you Jim! I'll be in AC. Another spontaneous road-trip for me. Going to see Sebastian Maniscalco at the Borgata.

xoxoxoBruce 01-12-2017 09:06 PM

OK, 3:45. ;)

captainhook455 01-13-2017 02:58 AM

Well I am here. Jim and Amanda are nicer in person I must say. She is just the sweetest apple on the tree. Jimbob looks better in person than any picture. They have 3 cats and hopefully one or two come sleep with me over the weekend. That's it for now it's almost 4am and I have to get up and goof off tomorrow.

tarheel

lumberjim 01-13-2017 08:33 AM

I'm gonna go ahead and take that as a compliment. Good news is that I'm not hung over this morning. Bad news is that it's because I'm still a little drunk.

Going to a monthly meeting this morning. Think I'll air some grievances.

OCK!

Pamela 01-13-2017 09:49 PM

I had all kinds of fun piloting my truck through Queens and Manhattan, parking near the Lincoln Tunnel, then getting into the Javits Center and back out of the city at three in the afternoon. Why do I not do this more often? Oh yeah, $150 is NOT enough to cover my new hair extensions to cover all the hair I pulled out at the suicidal pedestrians and car drivers. And that doesn't begin to cover the TAXI DRIVERS!!!!! Arrrrgh!

I really wish I had made it to Burlington yesterday instead of today. I could have parked there and been much closer to Jimbo and the rest of you.

classicman 01-14-2017 09:05 AM

Yo Tarheel! lol

Actually I would have had a better smile if I had a been wearing my teeth. Some members are coming Sunday to watch the foosball game. I think they just want to hear the redneck drawl. Y'all want to hear something funny. Listen to a Yankee talk to fast in correct English. Just hurts my ears. He calls the road a street when everyone knows its called the paved road.

lumberjim 01-14-2017 12:20 PM

We dropped the paved modifier because there aren't many non paved roads. Up heah

Yeah I've heard Jim is a great host... until he reaches his limit. Then the guest just disappears... never to be seen again.

That was a pretty dirty trick he pulled on Amanda. Wait till she accepts his proposal, THEN trial by fire. :eyebrow:

captainhook455 01-14-2017 01:48 PM

Someday Amanda will hear the words " well thats three".

tarheel

xoxoxoBruce 01-14-2017 02:03 PM

Then she'll take his bike and jeep and throw him the hell out. :lol2:

He will treat her right after all ex wives cost more than bikes.

captainhook455 01-15-2017 12:08 PM

I don't know. Haven't seen a Harley yet in person. Probably takes pics of the neighbors bike. If it was me soon as I got past the howdy do's I'd be showing my ride. Oh well. These Yankees are strange folks. I did buy supper last night, but other than that they won't let me buy anything. Then they are so nice. Funny I thought I was in NJ. The traffic the traffic , yes I said it twice scares the shit outta me.

tarheel

lumberjim 01-15-2017 01:34 PM

Shit, he's on to me.

captainhook455 01-15-2017 03:04 PM

xoxoxoBruce 01-15-2017 10:02 PM

Sorry I missed it, I usually get up three or four times a night to pee, but last night was to puke/dry heave. Wasn't sure if it was from my cooking or I caught something. But couldn't take a chance on passing on something that would stick Jim with a houseguest for another week. :p:

lumberjim 01-15-2017 10:11 PM

Thanks for that. It was an interesting group. We were treated to a new original E-Juanic, too.

Juan: My kidneys are floating up around my teeth.

He had to pee.

captainhook455 01-16-2017 01:29 PM

I am on the way back home. Right now I'm at the NC welcome center draining my lizard. I have a pic for y'all. If Jimbo had a bigger front yard I would get him one.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1302e94b29.jpg

Gravdigr 01-16-2017 02:47 PM

I'm back in Joisey again. Jersey City this time.

I know no one is coming to visit me at this unreasonable hour, just stating a fact. I'm off to Middletown NY and then Rochester NY after a brief stopover.

Griff 01-17-2017 06:08 AM

For just a second I saw two guys sawing another guys head off. I might want to get that checked out.

captainhook455 01-17-2017 07:31 AM
