What I would do with 100,000 tax free dollars?
This is pure fantasy at this point, but the first thing I'd do is find the best (the most reliable and the most trustworthy) medical specialists on the planet to rid my immediate family of most/all of our medical problems. Then, well...we would have more choices on how to proceed.
How about you? |
Unfortunately, I think $100,000 wouldn't get you very far with the best medical specialists on the planet.
I'd probably do something like this. I'm boring. |
Sorry, John, $100,000 wouldn't get close, it doesn't even matter what the medical problems are. Forget my parents and siblings; forget all our other health issues; me and my two kids cost an average of $7500 per year on preventative colonoscopies alone. Don't get me started on the cousin in his 30s who actually did come back positive for colon cancer a few years back. Medical costs in this country are truly unfathomable to most people who don't bother looking at their insurance statements.
And yeah, we're boring. It would be investment and savings all the way. |
Maybe he meant 100,000 million? Seeing as it's a dreaming question. Our medical bills reach $100,000 before the end of January each year -that amount wouldn't even buy a house in the shittiest part of town.
But why tax free? If you're getting so much money you can cure uncurable diseases etc, why not chip in a little for society? If we came into and unimaginable amount of money right now, I think we'd be hitting the bucket list, as well as investing to make the future a little easier for the sprogs. |
I'M OUT!
|
That wouldn't have happened if you had put some aside for a rainy day.
|
My son Dan's bills were over 2 million in just the first 6 months after his accident.
|
I'd spend it.
What am I saving for? The future? Hah! Maybe stock up the bar with the good stuff. |

Anyway, I'm not interested in "rainy day" funds. I'm interested in ridding myself of this Ataxic Cerebral Palsy curse that was placed upon me at birth 46 years ago, ridding my mom of her Motor Aphasia inflicted upon her 2 years ago after having brain surgery to remove a malignant tumor (there were complications), and ridding my step-dad of his various medical issues; and since we all have Medicare, they'll most likely help pay for it. Then, I'd buy my parents a nice house wherever the choose. Lastly, I'd buy a car, get a job, and rent an apartment in a major metropolitan area that provides a reliable high-speed internet connection and DirecTV for myself. I might have to raise my monetary provisions to, say, 2 million? |
I would pay off my car and credit cards. Then save the rest for one of my frequent rainy days.
|
I would buy an Ultra Glide Harley and travel around the country in all the best seasons. BUT before I left I would tell my wife and her relatives to kiss my ass.

100k? I'd pay for two years of college for one of my kids.
|
I'd make a lot of peoples lives a little better.

To clarify, this is not a thread about what anyone would do with the money, it's a thread about what you would do with the money.

Apparently many did not grasp a significant statement by UT:
Quote:
One with debits on credit card or has car loans is either digging themselves out of holes. Or are so patriotic American (responsible) as to aspire to be a creditor - a patriotic American. Only a debtor who remains fiscally irresponsible as to have a car loan and credit card debts has a Trump (and wacko extremist) attitude. And yes, we are discussing the difference between low intelligence Trump supporters. Verses patriotic Americans who aspire to become creditors. That includes most immigrants. But outstanding balances on a credit card too often indicates a child who wants rather than an adult who earns. When we discuss 'them' and 'us', are we so dumb as to blame immigrants, other races, women, gays and lesbians, Muslims (only the most anti-Americans judge others based in religion), and anyone else who is different? Patriotic Americans never do the hate that The Donald promotes. And yet 40% of Americans are that hateful - are that anti-American. Patriotic Americans aspire to become creditors. Those people make American great. Not everyone succeeds. But patriotic Americans want to be creditors. What is the most common car owned by millionaires? A used Ford. Because the idiot sits high above all other in his Jeep is emotional. A classic example of an adult who is still a child. Who forgets that car loan and credit card debits are symptom of an anti-American. Who does not understand that great Americans are creditors - who eventually go out throughout the world (ie Gate Foundation) to advance mankind. Your most important purpose in life is the advancement of mankind. Most only contribute slightly. That is still a patriotic American - no matter what your citizenship. But anyone who foolishly remains a debtor (as Republican party wacko extremists promote) is an enemy of America, innovation, and the advancement of mankind. |
Oh shut the fuck up. The significance of UT's statement is this thread is about John's wishes to do with $100,000 K, no one else's.
|
It's almost as though tw is spoofing himself at this point.
|
Yeah, except he doesn't know the difference.

Car loans and credit card balances are only for the responsible who find themselves in 'temporary' fiscal distress. Others who constantly have car loans and credit card debts only have themselves to blame. |

NO-ONE is offended by "Cupcake". 99% chance it wasn't intended as an insult. Just a "calm down" flag. But I've been wrong before and I'm probably due another one..... One of the things most of us here like is limited use of emoticons. Why do you want to be here so badly when you hate the way we interact? Either learn to interpret the subtext without emoticons, or understand that you're gonna miss shit. I'm pretty certain you won't be the only one here who makes that choice. If you joined this forum to get out of your comfort zone, maybe stop trying to turn it into your comfort zone? As an FYI, once you start a thread, it's in the public domain, it's not YOUR thread, it belongs to all of us. We all learn that the hard way. Also, it's generally bad form to start a new thread -especially in homebase- just to make a personal statement to which you don't want any replies and actively discourage discussion. There are plenty of threads in Nothingland for that. I understand you might not go into coffee shops or bars etc as often as you might like, but try considering if that would be the first thing you said if you did, and then apply that to you decision about whether to start a new thread ot not. A thread IS a conversation, in the main. I see so many people here trying to help you turn this into a decent thread, one that has a place in homebase, and all I see is you losing your shirt because you didn't get a response to yet another "poor me" I really am actually trying to help you. I'm no social skills superhero myself. :) <<<see no sarcasm, no bitching, being the best person I can be right now. |
