The ladies and I spent a few days in the Adirondacks on Lake Lila a motor free public lake. It was spectacular! We didn't climb the mountain though... because the mama and baby moose got in the way.:)

Beautiful. Very wise of you to call a truce with the moose on the loose. :thumb:

glatt 07-16-2015 08:56 AM

Absolutely gorgeous! I am full of envy.

BigV 07-16-2015 10:13 AM

Magnificent!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. :)

It really looks like you had the lake to yourself too. Were there many other people there? It's not a huge lake, but big enough that you could have a few groups with lots of space in between.

Looks like the parking area is a quarter mile from the lake. Did you have to carry your stuff that far, or could you get closer?

Campsite #2 looks... uh, damp. :haha:

BigV 07-16-2015 10:39 AM

Damp? Nah, just heavily promoated.

infinite monkey 07-16-2015 11:09 AM

What a gorgeous place. It's so peaceful-looking. I want to go there and boat and sit around the campfire, and sleep like the proverbial log. On a log, even.

The DEC controls where people are allowed to camp. It was actually a busy weekend up there but there are not enough sites for it to get crowded by any stretch. If you don't find an open site you have to move on.

Griff 07-17-2015 06:22 AM

I forgot to mention that it's a motor free lake so no jet ski nonsense. When we got home we were greeted bright and early by the continuous 4 wheeler nonsense. Don't kids ever work anymore? In my day...

OK, so campsite #2 has an island under it to cut down the dampness.

Looks gorgeous!

oh look, a map!

glatt 07-18-2015 07:29 AM

Yeah. A map. And it has more information than Google Earth does. Presented in a clearer format.

Griff 07-18-2015 08:11 AM

The battery didn't fade at all on my copy...

Griff, your trip and pics are very enticing
... I particularly liked that morning/evening view of the same scene.
But I'm surprised there's no evidence of biting bugs.

Your pics did remind me of those I made back in the 70's when
my family was on back-packing vacations in the Canadian Rockies.
If family members were in one of my pic's, they most always were seen from their backside,
because I was the one carrying the camera and usually the straggler in the group.
I now wish I had made a run-around to get people coming towards me on the trails,
or given the camera over to our dog who was most always out front.

Looks like you had a good time there, sir. Normally I'd be jelly, but we (Amanda & I)
were up in Jim Thorpe doing much the same thing this week...

She has pictures on her camera of a really cool Turtle, and a Bald Eagle eating a fish.
I'll try to get them from her on Sunday.

It would look great on paper.

Evidence of mosquitoes can be found up and down Little Griff's legs. A few biting flies as well. We had a screen tent at the camp where we hung out and ate. It made for a heavy kayak but was worth it. The skeeters didn't exist on the water though.

Good times Jimbo!
