# 3 The making of an urban outdoor oasis.

A series of projects has transformed Philadelphia into a hive of outdoor urban activity. Dilworth Park, formerly a hideous slab of concrete adjoining City Hall, reopened this past autumn as a green, pedestrian-friendly public space with a winter ice-skating rink (and a cafe by the indefatigable chef Jose Garces). Public art installations, mini “parklets” and open-air beer gardens have become common sights. The Delaware River waterfront was reworked for summer 2014 with the Spruce Street Harbor Park (complete with hammocks, lanterns and floating bar) becoming a new fixture, following the renovation of the Race Street Pier, completed in 2011, and offers free yoga classes on a bi-level strip of high-design decking and grass. The city’s other river, the Schuylkill, has its own new boardwalk. To top it off, this spring, Philadelphia will get its first bike share program, making this mostly flat city even more friendly for those on two wheels. Nell McShane Wulfhart
Um... nevermind. :lurker:

On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia. ;)

monster 01-14-2015 10:18 PM

Just Philadelphia? ;)

BigV 01-14-2015 11:53 PM

I hear it's always sunny in Philadelphia.

As it is 3.30am and I'm posting here, I suppose a reasonable response would be 'only from the neck up'. :sniff:

Thanks foot x 3. There's a cheque in the post. :thumb:

My dad was diligent in my humor education. I was reading W.C.'s biography at 12.

Please refer your enquiry to your local USPS office. ;)

xoxoxoBruce 01-16-2015 09:24 AM

Nah, the USPS posts bullshit on their website like they tried to deliver a package handed off to them by UPS at 6:15 PM and couldn't find a secure place to leave it.

First of all, there's a large mailbox they find secure enough to leave first class mail in six days a week.
Secondly, Not only was I home for many hours before and after the time the lying bastards said they were here, if they knocked rather than ring the bell, I had a guest who can hear much better than my admittedly poor hearing.

I'm glad I looked it up, because it's pretty. You think the pictures are pictures, and then they move.

xoxoxoBruce 01-23-2015 02:34 PM

Yeah but one destination they recommend is Manchester England, I'd have to check with fox to see if that's a no go zone. :lol2:

Sundae 01-23-2015 03:46 PM

Manchester?

And Oasis.

You want Otley mate.

And Pork pies.
