Looks like I'm doing it again

Well, once more it appears that I cannot say anything without fucking people up in some way or another. So I'm going to give you guys a break from me for a while. It seems like everything I post is picked apart for ammo to try to show me as ignorant, stupid, or just less in general. I can only assume that I've pissed you off to the point that this is how you feel.

It's tiresome. You find me tiresome.

It is what it is. Yeah, no. YOLO. Whatthefuckever.

Later.

xoxoxoBruce 01-13-2015 02:07 PM

Remember, if someone disagrees with you that doesn't mean you are wrong.
Also, they may not be disagreeing with you, but actually agreeing by building on your statement.

lumberjim 01-13-2015 02:15 PM

Let's ALL leave!

Undertoad 01-13-2015 02:34 PM

I beg people to pick me apart and they refuse!

lumberjim 01-13-2015 02:35 PM

I don't.

faggot

Clodfobble 01-13-2015 02:36 PM

It's just the winter blues fucking with your head, Grav. Drink a little, smoke a little, and have a giant steak for dinner, and you'll feel better in no time.

limey 01-13-2015 03:27 PM

Clod's right. Stay, please!

glatt 01-13-2015 03:28 PM

If you're sick of us, then maybe a break is a good idea. But if you think we are sick of you, you're wrong.

Oops. Maybe I shouldn't have said you're wrong. Not trying to dig at you. ;p

Carruthers 01-13-2015 03:39 PM

Come on Grav, if you go there will be spaces in threads with only tumbleweed to fill them.

Can't have that. It upsets the natural order of things.

You regularly post with a strong position on hot-button issues. I'm not certain why you would be surprised to get pushback occasionally. Don't mistake a critique of your post with an attack on you.

As proprietor, no matter how much you try to avoid it, there's going to be some residual deference.

Plus, you tend towards "a pox on both their houses" opinions, which aren't quite as fun to pick apart as strident ones. And, when you do pick a side, I usually agree.

DanaC 01-13-2015 05:09 PM

Is this because I responded to your 'free college' cartoon? Because that was not meant to pick anything apart - nor get at you. I just responded to your post with my own opinion.

Griff 01-13-2015 08:56 PM

There were a couple conversations going on the god thread. It was interesting but then it got insulting... Grav actually wrote a pretty good defense of his thinking. <shrug>

infinite monkey 01-13-2015 08:58 PM

Not sure what happened, but I do know Grav is a favorite around here. He's witty and fun and has some opinions. Maybe he's also a bit sensitive. Gee, I can't relate to that. ;)

We luvz ya, man.

sexobon 01-13-2015 09:32 PM

He's upset because the Dweller NSFW thread is defunct.

Gravdigr tried to call out Pico and ME for being elitist or arrogant or something, and then was insulted when I pointed out that Pico and ME wasn't saying what Gravdigr thought.

And it sounds like you may be reading my use of "immature brains" the same way Gravdigr read Pico and ME's. For clarity's sake, I would like to mention that I was using the phrase in the same way that Clodfobble was - a brain not capable of understanding everything in the universe, in other words a human brain.

monster 01-13-2015 10:08 PM

Where did it get insulting? I kinda thought that Grav telling me I was going to hell was somewhat insulting. But that is just his belief, so I wasn't didn't take it personally. But somehow expressing my belief is not only insulting, but militant?

Really now.

lumberjim 01-14-2015 04:13 AM

I'm perplexed by the whole thing, myself. I didn't think you said anything over the line.

Griff 01-14-2015 06:27 AM

I didn't read anything Pico said as insulting. Grav (hellfire) and HM (immature brains) appeared deliberately insulting to each others worldview but pretty low level compared to Old Time Cellar. I thought the thread was going to actually provide more light than fire.

footfootfoot 01-14-2015 08:10 AM

DanaC 01-14-2015 09:48 AM

oh, I love Richard Thompson!

Clodfobble 01-14-2015 10:16 AM

Bugs me how he says "ups" instead of "oops" though.

DanaC 01-14-2015 10:20 AM

I think that's just his accent :P

But also may reflect the possible origin of oops as a shortened form of whoops. I know that the 'ups' pronunciation is common in some parts of the country.

Again, I used "immature brains" in exactly the same way as the two other people who used the phrase before me.

glatt 01-14-2015 10:58 AM

And if the two other people before you jumped off the Empire State Building, would you too? :stickpoke :p:

xoxoxoBruce 01-14-2015 11:15 AM

I think he (grav) is lying, he's really going to Jamaica for a winter vacation and doesn't want to take us along. Cheap bastard. :smack:

Pico, the handbasket is getting pretty full, if you are sure you are not going to hell then we'd like to give your seat to someone else. If it turns out you actually are going to hell and we've given your seat to someone else, then you'll have to wait for the next handbasket. (and all the cool people won't be on that one, just so you know)

;)

Aliantha 01-14-2015 03:42 PM

Maybe there's a bit more to this than people realise. Perhaps there's stuff going on in grabs life that we don't know about. Maybe he just needs to sort himself out. I hope he's not gone too long though.

monster 01-14-2015 03:46 PM

maybe his head just really hurts today, he's spitting feathers and only one eye will open.....

Aliantha 01-14-2015 03:52 PM

That would really suck.

footfootfoot 01-14-2015 04:20 PM

His inscrutable eye?

xoxoxoBruce 01-14-2015 06:55 PM

I think his problem is an undeserved inferiority complex.
I know I marvel at the off the wall shit many of you people rattle off with regularity, and it's sometimes a little intimidating. Some because of your profession, a hobby, or life experiences, and one that makes shit up.

That coupled with a lifetime of hearing/seeing the entertainment industry belittle the inbred, backwoods, red neck, hillbilly stereotype, and inferring anyone from Appalachian/Ozarks states is one of them. It's not hard to see why people living there would feel the whole world thinks that way... but we don't.

Yeah, we know better, we've got members like Buster, Zippyt, from "redneck" territory, and they sure aren't stupid. Neither is Gravdgr. He's a little touchy about anything he's not sure isn't a backhanded insult, but smart, funny, modest(except about poker winnings), interested in all sorts of stuff, and a genuinely nice guy.

And I like him a lot. :2cents:

busterb 01-14-2015 07:00 PM

WHS^

Griff 01-14-2015 07:03 PM

Well said, of course I'm from Appalachia so what do I know?

the thing is, it's a bunch of different people. It's not one person who knows all that stuff.

footfootfoot 01-14-2015 07:41 PM

speak for yourself

xoxoxoBruce 01-14-2015 07:42 PM

True, it's just some of it is beyond what normal human beings shouldn't know. It's like wow that's really interesting, but why would any human being know that? What is it about that person's life that gives them access to that information? :whofart:

regular.joe 01-14-2015 10:12 PM

What, stuff like a human head weighs about 7 lbs.???

monster 01-14-2015 10:16 PM

9lbs when you have been glittered.....

lumberjim 01-14-2015 11:37 PM

And Gravdigr's vagina weighs 20 lbs.

Aliantha 01-15-2015 12:20 AM

I thought it was the heart weighed 7lb?

lumberjim 01-15-2015 12:42 AM

Your heart is the size of your fist.

Sundae 01-15-2015 04:21 AM

I'm Team Grav too.
I actually contacted him during one of my pretendy Coping With the World periods to ask if we could exchange numbers and chat. For the accent as much as anything ;)
He declined, but very politely, because he doesn't like to give out personal information. I totally respect that.

And no, we don't share a world view and yes, sometimes I've found things he's posted quite offensive. But no doubt he's retched at some of my views, and would do more so if I expressed them more forcibly. But he makes me laugh. And as Infi says, he has a cat and a scooter. Now that's my idea of a good Dwellar.

Spexxvet 01-15-2015 07:53 AM

Grav, FWIW, Dwellars are taking the time and making the effort to respond to your posts. If people don't care, they just don't interact.

An average man's heart weighs 10 ounces, and a woman's heart weighs only 8 ounces.

And we women accuse men of being heartless.

infinite monkey 01-15-2015 10:35 AM

Huh?

Happy Monkey 01-15-2015 10:53 AM

If you interact, you care (even if you only interact to say you don't care).
If you don't care, you don't interact.

This does not imply that if you don't interact then you don't care or if you do care then you do interact.

footfootfoot 01-15-2015 11:36 AM

Look, if my fist floats in water then it weighs the same as a duck...

footfootfoot 01-15-2015 11:37 AM

By the way, who is Gravdigr again?

regular.joe 01-15-2015 01:11 PM

You know this thread is going to go one way or the other. It will coax Grav out of the blues and back to the cellar.....or it will cement his decision as a good one and he will stay away. Either way I bet this goes on for at least another 5 pages over the next month of thread drift.

BURN YOUR FIST! It's Witch!

xoxoxoBruce 01-15-2015 01:39 PM

Well everybody knows that, but did you know I saved 15% in 15 minutes?

glatt 01-15-2015 01:41 PM

I doubt he's reading any of this.

He said he was taking a break, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would peek behind him to see if anyone was begging him to stay.

He'll be back when he's ready.

That's it, I'm unfriending you. Don't look at my wall. :p:
