Colorado Springs

Tree Fae and I managed to eke out a few days in October to visit some friends of ours in The Springs...people who treated us like we were in a four star hotel. Here's a few pics.

Sorry about the manky links, but I'm out of practice with Cellar posting ways.

Elspode 01-10-2014 07:59 PM

The third link is a shot of Aaron and Valerie Smith, our amazing hosts. Aaron is an artist non pareil, and Valerie is a pharmacist who, were she any more hawt, would melt gelatin capsules as she tried to fill them.

Wants me to sign in... not going to happen.:(

Elspode 01-11-2014 09:21 PM

I believe I've changed the whole folder to Public now. Let me know if it still doesn't work and I'll fix it. I was too lazy to try and downsize them last night, and I have all this unused free web storage space...

Elspode 01-11-2014 09:39 PM

So, the linkage didn't work as I'd hoped, so let me post a few more as singles so I can interpret.

Interpretation of the first post is as follows:

The first link is a panorama of The Garden of the Gods

The second link is a panorama of The Garden of the Gods, but from the Western side of the Kissing Camels formation, which is center in the first image.

Third image is, as mentioned, our hosts, Aaron and Valerie.

Fourth image is a panorama overlooking Cripple Creek.

This shot shows our hosts and Tree Fae amongst the gloriously golden Fall Aspens.

Kissing Camels in Garden of the Gods, zoomed in. TF says she doesn't see kissing camels when she looks at it.

My single favorite shot of the whole trip. Dismayed Aspen leaf is dismayed.

This is the shot that makes up one of the panels of the Garden of the Gods panorama. See the black looking trees in the canyon at center right? They're black because they burned in the Summer of 2012 during the Colorado Springs front range fires. The one pictured here burned all the way Northward up that canyon, and burned down the famous Flying W Ranch, a place I remember fondly both from my youth, and from when Selene and I took our kids there in the 90's.

This is Pike's Peak...as seen from Aaron and Valerie's driveway. This view does not suck.

Finally, a shot of Pike's Peak from just Northwest of the peak itself, a little ways outside of Divide, Colorado. This was taken the day after the previous pic from Aaron's driveay, showing how much snow clothed the peak overnight.

I woud visit with relatives and stay for a few days. When I got up in the mornings and looked out through the living room window at Pike's Peak my uncle would say: "Yep, it's still there."

Did you stop in at the ANA Money Museum?

Griff 01-12-2014 08:16 AM

Cool shots!

No, it's not.

Must be one of them there petrified leaves

Elspode 01-12-2014 03:00 PM

Damn it! What do I need to do to get pics that are linked from somewhere else to display so that it is obvious when I screw up? I can't remember the coding anymore.

Go advanced. Manage attachments. Paste the url of the image into the field that asks for the image url. Upload. Close the pop up. Find the paperclip icon in the header of the edit box. Insert image link by clicking the one you want in the drop down.

Or to hot link, go to the picture online, right click, pick 'copy image location'... Then back in the reply box, click the image tag button (pale yellow square) ... ctrl_v... make sure there is only one http://.

lumberjim 01-12-2014 08:20 PM

That leaf looks dismayed.

glatt 01-13-2014 08:43 AM

Natural googly eyes on that leaf

Gravdigr 01-23-2014 01:36 PM

I got nothing but blank white pages for all Spodeyodey's pic posts.

What am I doing wrong?

ETA: I get a docs.google.com site, a file name, and a blank page.

ETA Again: Nevermind. I clicked the download arrow, and chose 'open with windows photo viewer'. At least I can see the pics that way, anyway. :D

xoxoxoBruce 01-23-2014 01:41 PM

Me too.

glatt 01-23-2014 01:48 PM

I get the same thing, except with a picture. In firefox.

Gravdigr 01-23-2014 01:56 PM

I blame Google. Just because.

Gravdigr 01-23-2014 01:56 PM

Nice pics, Spode.

It tells me my Firefox is unsupported, so I gotta go buy a jockstrap.

Elspode 01-24-2014 11:48 PM

This is nuts. Grav...did you actually see pics?

I'll move all these over to Dropbox, because it actually works.

Sorry.

Gravdigr 01-24-2014 11:55 PM

Yeah Elspode, I could see them via the steps outlined up in post #21. :D

Elspode 01-25-2014 12:34 AM

So...do I need to move them? Clearly I need to figure out something better than Google Drive.

glatt 01-25-2014 02:11 PM

Just post them as attachments. It might require resizing, but might not.

Elspode 01-25-2014 06:30 PM

I was trying to avoid the attachment thing by having a bunch in one place, but, yeah. And they will require resizing. Our cameras produce insanely large files.
