Wow. What a horrible and disturbing page. I feel like I want to take a shower in my mind now.
|
I live about 10 yards from Ypsilanti.

Well, this thread took a shit.

There’s no way to tell the time span from when a composition was written and when Copyist no. III transcribed it.
Hofer was jealous of his protégée and hid Biber’s manuscripts, so Biber killed Hofer in a lovers quarrel. :p: |
What the fuck? Youze guys haven't read Clodfobble's debut as a writer on Damn Interesting? Or you did and didn't bother to comment on it? http://cellar.org/2012/nono.gif
Either way, you're in deep shit so you better get with the program if you want to get back in good graces. :crone: |
I had commented over on Facebook, where I follow both Damn Interesting and that author who wrote that country without a map book.
At first I thought the page turning sounds were just sloppy mic work by Ms. Fobble as she read her story, but of course I should have known better than that. Mr. Bellows explains at the end that he did all those foley food mill effects. One thing that jumped out at me about the story is how I lump old stuff together. From my perspective, it was some olden days guy who wrapped vegetables in a musical score written by some other olden days guy. But those vegetables were wrapped in sheet music that was already a couple hundred years old for the grocer who did the wrapping. And when we look at the story, that grocer was a couple hundred years old to us. So they shouldn't be lumped together. It would be like if I wrapped vegetables in the War of 1812 Overture today, not Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. That score was old. |
"Ice, Ice Baby" was old by the second verse.
|
Hey look, it's me!
|
Nice!
How many now? You had that one about the composer a while ago. |
yay!
Nice Damn Article |
It definitely helped that site live up to its name.

You write clearly and succinctly, without any bullshit. Exactly what I want, especially on the net. Kudos to you and Alan. :notworthy

Fun thing: I am the host of a new podcast for Damn Interesting. If you're into that sort of thing, you can get information and links to subscribe here.

Takes me 3 weeks to grow a respectable beard.
|
Never had a 'respectable' beard.
I got neckbeard. |
I couldn't decide whether I should grow a beard or not; so, I flipped a coin in a box. While the result was indeterminate, I started growing a beard anyway. One day, while trimming it, I got the hiccups which caused me to slip with the electric trimmer and mess it up. Years ago it was predicted that putting gyroscopes in electric trimmers would keep unexpected rapid motions from causing such catastrophes. I'm still waiting for someone to close that loop. I don't know how it would feel to have a beard; but, I got a software program that allows me to see what I'd look like with one by digitally superposing 3D images of beards onto a 3D image of my face.
And that's as far as I got. You see, I'm already doing the Alexa skill "Curiosity" every night just before I go to sleep and I'm pretty much maxed out on time to devote to all the damn interesting stuff there is to learn out there. Nicely done though. |
What did I just read? :eyebrow:

My parody on the linked article Clod provided and the first five curated linked topics in the podcast she hosts. You have to go beyond the link provided to this one (click on Listen to Episode):

I don't do podcasts.
|
You could listen to Clod's intro at the beginning of it.
|
Nope, none.
|
Playing hard to get, huh?
|
Playing hard to hear.
|
I know that feeling. I hated podcasts before my appliances. I enjoy them now and just subscribed to some snappy chick's.
|
I read the 3 Christs book, btw, after reading this thread. All I could think was that it must have been instrumental in the development of guidelines for ethical treatment of human subjects in psychological research
|
"ethical treatment of human subjects in psychological research", that sounds wonderful when will the start? ;)
