What videogames are you playing

I thought that I would add this to the listening to music, watching TV threads.

I just finished the PC version of Mass Effect II. On the one hand, this is years behind everyone who bought the game when it first came out. On the other hand, waiting a year allows me to get the game dirt cheap on Steam.

After the big ending, there is the opportunity to do a little exploring and clear up any loose ends. The one big problem with the game is that while there are many branches on the decision trees built in the program, there are no random encounters. So when every last pirate or rogue robot has been fought, at some point there is nothing left.

Staying did allow me to clear up a romantic thread. The game allows the user to romance one of three (or four) characters. Using the save function, I pulled a Captain Kirk and romanced all three:cool:. It very PG-13, but the voice for one of the characters is Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck, so who could resist?:D

The game did finally run out of new plots, so until I get ME3, I set the game on replay, which lets you run through everything again but with all the guns, ammo, and experience saved from the first pass. Fun.

Mirror... a game that duplicates every posting to the Cellar

Madden Madden Madden

Perry Winkle 07-04-2013 10:57 AM

Eve Online and Minecraft are my two frequent plays these days. World of Tanks is kind of fun too, but I just don't have the energy to get deeply into it.

Clodfobble 07-04-2013 04:08 PM

My videogaming is all vicarious, these days. But Mr. Clod has been playing a lot of Gnomoria and Fallout 3 recently.

BigV 07-04-2013 05:30 PM

Clodfobble, why don't you tell us what games you(r voice talent) star(s) in? I'd play that one.

Perry Winkle 07-05-2013 07:26 AM

Tried out War Thunder yesterday. Free to play WW2 flying game (definitely not a sim).

It's pretty fun. It might really shine with a joystick, but I haven't owned one in years.

Happy Monkey 07-05-2013 09:02 AM

Just finished Skyrim: Dragonborn. I played Skyrim for over 380 hours.

Playing Quantum Conundrum. A puzzle game in the genre of Portal.

Next up: Bioshock: Infinite.

Mostly it's educational software and internal corporate training programs. The only two major videogame releases I'm in are Quarterback Club 2002 (as on-the-field interviewer April Meyers,) and Turok: Evolution (as daredevil pterodactyl pilot Genn.)

be-bop 07-05-2013 05:33 PM

Just finished Crysis 1 & 2, now on Doom3 BFG.
I like FPS shooters.
I have Rage and Bulletstorm just sitting waiting **Bliss***

I'm still looking. The vintage game shop on The Ave in the U District didn't have a copy, but I'm haven't exhausted my options yet.

Clodfobble 07-08-2013 09:59 PM

Neither one of them was a massive success. In fact, Turok's failure was the final coffin nail for the company. It made a reasonable amount of money, but not nearly enough to cover its 50 million dollar budget. You could probably find them on eBay, though.

zippyt 07-14-2013 07:41 PM

I just snagged Armra 2 for Phlity and my self , any other Celler troopers interested ?? Steam has it and most of the expantion packs on sale for $14.
Look for Zippytwd

Gravdigr 07-15-2013 05:55 PM

Been piddling w/Sniper 2.

Meh.

wolf 07-15-2013 11:16 PM

Batman Arkham City, Batman Arkham Asylum, Epic Mickey 1&2, God of War 2&3 and Darksiders2

toranokaze 07-16-2013 01:36 AM

World of Warcraft, and EVE online

Happy Monkey 07-16-2013 07:32 PM

The Arkham games are excellent.

Quantum Conundrum was fun, but not quite up to Portal's standards. It could have managed to have a bit more variety in its environments, I think.

On the flash game side, Bloons Tower Defense 5 is an excellent Tower Defense game, if you like that genre.

Happy Monkey 08-08-2015 06:36 PM

Just finished Arkham Knight. Steam says it took 76 hours for me to get 100% - including all Riddler trophies. Good game. Not sure how well tank battles fit the Batman universe, but if you want to play a sequel to Arkham City, and a sequel to Battlezone, but only have time for one, this is the game for you.

Played the hell out of cosmonautica for a few days, it was a fun roll and casual enough to play during off hours at work, but it did not last.

Undertoad 08-09-2015 08:39 AM

Rocket League: soccer played by cars. It's very fun but there is a steep learning curve.

Clodfobble 08-09-2015 08:54 AM

Rocket League has completely taken over all the males in my household. I've even enjoyed watching it over their shoulders.

Dude111 10-21-2015 05:31 AM

I like only classic games (Early 80s) I think the newest game I like it super Mario Brothers (The first one)

lumberjim 11-07-2015 10:12 AM

I saw a couple of promos for that - looks brilliant. I wish I had gaming rig or a console. This jalopy wouldn't run Civ.

I am so out of the gaming scene, man. I really miss it sometimes.

Still playing Battlefield 4 on the xbox 360, 2 years after it's release.

The game should really be winding down now, to get ready to sell the latest product, but even after all this time the developers are still twiddling with it, changing the damage of weapons and stats of vehicles.
The big DLC's that you pay for and are released every few months to keep the game ticking along were all released months ago, but they have kept trickling out new free content.
There is a Star Wars game, 'Battlefront' by the same people based of the same game engine and I think they are using Battlefield to experiment with things so Battlefront works well when it is released, battlefield was very bugged for a lot of players for months.

Battle front should be great, the game engine integrates vehicles and infantry very well and has great flexibility and destructibility of environments.

Fallout 4 looks very attractive too, never played them, but I know they are highly regarded

Exactly three months later, still Rocket League

Happy Monkey 11-09-2015 04:52 PM

Playing Black Mesa (a revamp of Half Life 1).
Anticipating Fallout 4.

On the phone, playing Fallout Shelter (but it's losing its lustre), and Bloons Monkey City (which was losing its lustre, but got a revitalizing revamp recently).

A question that has come up among various Rocket League fans and produced no clear consensus: Do you envision that you are playing in regular-sized cars with a giant ball, or toy cars with a regular-sized ball?

lumberjim 11-10-2015 12:29 PM

I started Fallout at midnight last night.... got stuck, went to bed.... played a little this morning.... got stuck again.... I have to figure out how to get past this big fucking death claw lizard man... and my save is way too low on mini gun ammo..... may have to back track...

Undertoad 11-10-2015 01:59 PM

I see Rocket League as toy cars, because of the high pitched whizzzzzz they make, and the antenna options. It's the rocket part that seems more "real", unless the owner has customized the rocket exhaust to be unicorn farts or similar.

lumberjim 11-11-2015 04:13 PM

Fallout 4 is kind of rough. I'm having a hard time with the combat controls, and keep running into enemies that insta kill me. Fucking mutant mosquito. I'm giving it the day, but I'm not having a hard time putting it down like I did with Skyrim and Shadow of Mordor... It has glitched 3 or 4 times too.... Have had to quit and reload.... One time I had to unplug the console to get past a load screen.... Hrmm

Happy Monkey 11-11-2015 04:14 PM

Sounds about right for a Bethesda game.

DanaC 11-11-2015 04:18 PM

They've probably rushed it out for the pre-Christmas release.

Happy Monkey 11-11-2015 04:24 PM

As a huge fan of Elder Scrolls and Fallout, I would expect a Bethesda game to come out with major bugs even if it was released on February 1, after being delayed due to having major bugs.

They tend to need the mod community to do the final round of bug fixes.

DanaC 11-11-2015 04:31 PM

Ah yeah - I remember the elder scrolls games...
