2/22/2003: Silly pro-war demonstration
http://cellar.org/2003/prowar.jpg
The official caption says this is part of a pro-war demonstration in Denver and that these Coloradans are marching on the capitol. Which tells me one thing: both pro- and anti-war marchers have an equal capacity for nonsense. I think historical recreation is interesting if it tells us something about history; it reminds us what conditions were like and such. And this is kinda interesting if it gives us a fresh look at what US soldiers looked like all along. But as a pro-war demonstration, it's kinda dumb; all it does is remind us that we have a military tradition. If anything, this image says "let's go to war, because that's what we always do!" |
A cool pic though, lets see:
- Revolutionary War - French and Indian war - War of 1812 - Civil War - WW1 - WW2 - The Korean War - Vietnam - Gulf War/Current |
I wonder what hoops they jumped through to be able to tote their rifles? Of course we are talking Co. not NY here.

Funny how the definitive 'Evolution' image goes with:
<img src="http://chem.lapeer.org/Bio1Docs/Images/Evolution.jpg"> Personally I think we're going the wrong way. |

Notice their 'rifles' get shorter as the years go by?
Minutemen, indeed! |
1. Hopefully, it takes more than a minute.
2. It's not the size of the rifle, it's the skill with which it is aimed. |

No see here is the wise alkie sage. :)
Luckily tonight I know I'm drunk so I'm paying attention to my spelling. Not that that mean as ton when your drunk you still can't tell what your doing. |

No, French & Indian was before the Rev. War. Therefore, I think it's *Revolutionary War *War of 1812 *Mexican War *Civil War *WW1 *WW2 *The Korean War *Vietnam *Gulf War ....which still skips the Spanish-Amer war. |
Too bad you're out in the midwest, Cam...and too bad James is in Colorado. If you guys were closer to the East Coast, the two of you and Griff and I could all get together, drink senselessly, and create one big thread of obnoxiousness.
|
[cornered] Oh how easily we mock that which we are not intellectually or emotionally prepared to understand. Why do our artful lives frighten you so?[/madman]

Ahh.. good call. I was confident on the French and Indian War and Rev. War timeline. And now that I look at it, that dress does look like something in the Mexican War. The uniforms are hard to tell from back then. It's like someone that is non-american trying to see the difference between Korean And WW2 uniforms.
