Celebrity Death Pool 2013

If they don't kick the bucket in the next week, I'm starting off with

1) Zsa-Zsa Gabor
2) Nelson Mandela (*sniff*)
3) Maggie Thatcher
4) Prince Phillip
5) Liz Dawn

.....

tbc

(I guess I could use a few Americans on there, be a little more dual-citizen....)

Rules same as last year -famous enough to be reported nationally in your country, points are 111-age at death. Lists posted in 2012 can be changed until Jan 1st 2013.

Let's add: all 10 spots to be filled by Jan 13 or left unfilled, all latecomers must post all 10 within a couple of days of joining and cannot have ones who already snuffed it at the time of posting. If all vote against this, that's fine, just a peace-keeping suggestiion ;) And no insider-trading. If you off the celeb yourself, that's ok, though, as long as you can smuggle the points into jail with you.

I'm really struggling with the last two... so many good options....

Trilby 12-30-2012 04:50 AM

well, obviously Courtney Love and Lindsay Lohan.

Carol Burnett
Bobbie Brown
Fidel Castro
Bashar al Assad

Trilby 12-30-2012 07:36 AM

Kirstie Allie??????

Clodfobble 12-30-2012 07:39 AM

I figure the repeated liposuctions and binge-eating have got to catch up with her eventually. Her heart will just explode. Plus she turns 62 in a couple weeks, she ain't no spring chicken.

Trilby 12-30-2012 09:16 AM

I didn't know about the liposuctions....I suspected she had a gastric bypass although she denies it.

Clodfobble 12-30-2012 12:57 PM

Well, I don't know about the liposuctions either, I'm just assuming. You can't yo-yo to the violent and rapid degree she has without some level of assistance.

Bound to forget that and start calculating points when I turn on the news at some point next year, only to find it's someone I dropped.

monster 12-30-2012 02:35 PM

9) Mohammed Ali
10) Fidel Castro

All the young time bombs have gotten considerably boring and straight recently (Love, Spears, even maybe Lohan) I think there will be a coupl eof younger celeb deaths, but I think they'll take almost everyone by surprise.

glatt 12-30-2012 07:27 PM

Hmm.... Hillary Clinton?

Griff 12-30-2012 07:31 PM

6. Niall Horan
7. Zayn Malik
8. Liam Payne

Get 'em in before midnight...we don't need another Paterno Debacle.

infinite monkey 12-31-2012 10:34 AM

I'm messing around with a spreadsheet. Tril, you need one more, and you need to specify a Kennedy.

Foot needs 8 more.

Yes

Hillary Clinton
George HW Bush
Fidel Castro
Hugo Chavez
Lindsay Lohan
Prince Philip
Kathleen Turner
Patrick Dempsey
Tom Brokaw (the news anchor, however you spell it)
Michael Moore

Trilby 01-01-2013 08:28 AM

Ok - the Kennedy that dated Taylor Swift. He'll die in a mysterious 'accident'

and...oh, shoot...let's say that ugly disgusting green-tinged boy Kate Moss goes out with. What's his name? Pete Doherty.

That's racist! ;)

DanaC 01-01-2013 08:32 AM

Sundae, if you kill off Tony Benn I will be very annoyed!

DanaC 01-01-2013 08:38 AM

The wonderful Tony Benn: an extended extra from a Michael Moore documentary

They just don't make 'em like that any more.

Trilby 01-01-2013 08:49 AM

they've blocked it here in the US!

DanaC 01-01-2013 08:51 AM

No way!?

I'll find another clip

DanaC 01-01-2013 08:54 AM

Try this:

Not an interview but a speech/lecture he gave. About money and power. He's committed christian and an old socialist. Born in 1925, he's the real deal.

glatt 01-01-2013 05:02 PM

The TV just showed a stock photo of Hugh Hefner and I thought he had died. But he only got married. I'm wishing I'd picked him. The guy can't be long for this world.

classicman 01-04-2013 04:54 PM

I'll take whoever I had last year.. if thats allowed.

wolf 01-06-2013 04:06 PM

Oh, crap. I updated my list, and there was a posting error. now I have to remember who I thought was going to die instead of those that didn't.

wolf 01-06-2013 04:18 PM

1. Roger Moore
2. Brittany Spears
3. Sean Connery
4. Fidel Castro (surely this is the year he goes. Unless he's already dead and they occasionally show a CGI version smoking a cigar on TV)
5. Can i have either of the Olsen Twins without specifying one? I'll take 75% of the usual score to compensate.
6. Dan Rather
7. Larry King
8. Clint Eastwood
9. Keith Richards (still think he is already dead. Zombie Stones, not Rolling, at this point. Although I guess that if one survived into the MTV era, that shows a hardiness of constitution that will carry them quite into their 90s.)
10. Will Ferrell

I was going to add Dave Brubeck, but apparently his Time Out was 12.5.12

I found your list. Sure you can have last year's list but you won't get many points since most of them are already dead.

Fidel Castro
Jerry Lewis
Elizabeth Taylor (died in 2011!)
Muhammad Ali
Bob Barker
Ernest Borgnine (dead)
Sidney Poitier
Lindsey Lohan
Peter Faulk (Falk. Died in 2011!)
Dick Clark (dead)

No, pick an Olsen. ;)

Foot needs 8 more. Unless he's on strike due to the Great Paterno Fiasco of 2012.

1. Zsa Zsa Gabor
2. George H. W. Bush

10. Katt Williams

3. Sean Connery
4. Fidel Castro (surely this is the year he goes. Unless he's already dead and they occasionally show a CGI version smoking a cigar on TV)
5. Hugo Chavez, not an Olson twin, but as likely to die.
6. Dan Rather
7. Larry King
8. Clint Eastwood
9. Keith Richards (still think he is already dead. Zombie Stones, not Rolling, at this point. Although I guess that if one survived into the MTV era, that shows a hardiness of constitution that will carry them quite into their 90s.)

Pete Zicato 01-10-2013 09:15 AM

Brittany Spears over Lindsay Lohan?

wolf 01-10-2013 09:17 AM

I've been letting Brittany ride for a couple years now. She'll eventually do something terminally stupid. Yeah, I know Lindsay can too, but I guess I dislike Brittany more.

footfootfoot 01-10-2013 04:21 PM

adding Larry King

Griff 01-12-2013 07:29 AM

I hadn't heard he died.

Don't be so sure. He's got a lot to live for!

As a non-participant* in this contest, I offer the following intuition about what is fair.
Doubling up a guess like this gives double the chance of a correct guess so to be fair it should only produce half the points.
Allowing the precedent could allow someone to make 20 guesses at half-points, and logically just a single guess at ten times the normal points.
Do you really want to go there?

*It would annoy me if I did poorly and freak me out if I did really well.

It's true that I haven't kept up with music for the last 15 years or so. But "less meaning and lots of noise" always seemed to go with lots of black eyeliner and Doc Marten's or biker boots. I'm having trouble picturing you this way.
