I Stand for God and Country

My Country, despite the Obama Revolution of Working Class New South. Is very much a Christian Nation. IF Not I would not be able to stand before you right here and say. I'm Free. I tested a black hole on Saddam Insane and and He Got recycled. Do you dare challenge this Black Hole and think that Your Life Too will Not get sucked up. I can prove that despite Obama's CLAIM that America is not Christian Nation. Do you see all the lights?? They are Celebrating what?? Not Patriots, Not Presidents, Not War, THey are celebrating CHRISTmas and that's what the people want. There is a very THIN red line of Media Sharks who think they can mislead the people. If you decide Obama's LIE is TRUE you are on the wrong side of love and you are treading very thin Ice. My country is the USA.

Disclaimer: Having a nut hanging contest is like the nastiest thing you could ever do so don't let them hand too long.

radio edit: I can prove that despite Obama's CLAIM that America IS a Christian Nation.

I dunno I write faster than I think.. and I think faster than I act. America Is a Christian Nation. Presidents have NO right to dictate what there socio-religious doctrines are.. hey you don't believe in Santa, Fine, but don't ruin it for those who do.

Almost all religions have a festival of lights at this time of year. It's got bollock-all to do with CHRISTmas and everything to do with the nights being long and the days being short in the northern Hemisphere.

Sincerely, your local neighborhood non-citizen atheist who has thousands of lights decorating the house and yard and gets thank you cards from the neighbors for cheering them up by keeping them in throughout long, miserable January.

JBKlyde 12-25-2012 07:24 PM

And it's only miserable because Santa gave you coal...

monster 12-26-2012 07:52 PM

1) read.... ain't miserable for me
2) coal ....burns -perfect for January fires
3) Santa ... really? How does that really fit with christianity? please do explain.

Santa and the Easter bunny are often regarded as childhood surrogates for Jesus Christ compatible with children's level of understanding.

Rhianne 12-27-2012 09:21 AM

No, no. Santa symbolises the wise men, trudging through the Palestinian snow to deliver booties and a new romper suit for the baby Christ and some cheap aftershave for his step-dad. Don't you people read your holy books?

monster 12-27-2012 09:34 PM

that was clearly where the hole in my book was.....

I liked a Christmas card I saw with the three wise men on camels, the wise man in the lead holding a small chest of gold. One of the two trailing wise men says to the other "He brought gold, there goes the $15.00 gift limit!

Undertoad 12-28-2012 06:50 AM

It turns out the wise men are not in the bible. Another invented Christianity thing!

Clodfobble 12-28-2012 10:11 AM

Well, technically they're there. They just don't have names or a specific number, nor do they arrive at the manger, but rather sometime later after the birth.

My mother-in-law sets up her nativity each year with the wise men figurines set up way off to the side, to indicate that they were traveling, not there yet. Gotta settle that cognitive dissonance somehow...

infinite monkey 12-28-2012 10:13 AM

Yabbut there are plenty of wiseacres, or wisenheimers, in the bible.

Celebrate Three Kings Day on Epiphany, January 6th. There are plenty of traditions to choose from. You can borrow one from southeast Texas and give your MIL a king cake!

In Catalonia, as well as in the rest of Spain and in most of Italy and Southern France, traditional Christmas decorations sometimes consist of a large model of the city of Bethlehem, similar to the Nativity scenes of the English-speaking world but encompassing the entire city rather than just the typical manger scene. In Catalonia, the pessebre or nativity scene is often a reproduction of a pastoral scene with a traditional Catalan masia (farmhouse) as a central setting with the child in a manger, with outlying scenes of a washerwoman by a river, a woman spinning, shepherds walking towards the manger area laden with gifts and herding their sheep, the three wise men approaching on horseback, an annunciation scene with the angel and shepherds, the star pointing the way, etc., all of this usually set on moss to represent grass, with cork used to represent mountains or cliffs. Another variant is to make the setting oriental, with the wise men arriving by camel and the figures dressed accordingly.
But the best bit of a Catalan nativity scene is the Caganer. We've mentione dit before in here somewhere, but here it is again:

Quote:

A Caganer (Catalan pronunciation: [kəɣəˈne], Western Catalan: [kaɣaˈne]) is a figurine depicted in the act of defecation appearing in nativity scenes in Catalonia and neighbouring areas with Catalan culture such as Andorra, Valencia, Northern Catalonia (in southern France) and the Balearic Islands. It is most popular and widespread in these areas, but can also be found in other areas of Spain (Murcia), Portugal and southern Italy (Naples).
Quote:

The caganer is a particular and highly popular feature of modern Catalan nativity scenes. It is believed to have entered the nativity scene by the late 17th-early 18th century, during the Baroque period.[4] Eminent folklorist Joan Amades called it an essential piece and the most popular figure of the nativity scene. It can also be found in other parts of southwestern Europe, including Murcia, the region just south of the Valencia in Spain (where they are called cagones), Naples (cacone or pastore che caca) and Portugal (cagões).[5] There is a sculpture of a person defecating hidden inside the cathedral of Ciudad Rodrigo, Province of Salamanca, though this is not part of a nativity scene.[6] Accompanying Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the shepherds and company, the caganer is often tucked away in a corner of the model, typically nowhere near the manger scene. A tradition in the Catalan Countries is to have children find the hidden figure.
So, not only do they hide a crouching, shitting figure in the scene, they get the kids to find him :)

Interesting... I've only ever heard of having King Cakes for Mardis Gras.

Interesting cultural information about Catalan nativity scenes. Definitely a recent and regional thing ... any information on what led to the inclusion of the Caganer figure?

I like this one. A couple sites say its a fertility thing. I wonder if it isn't a little protest of some sort? If it is a recognizable figure...

Clodfobble 12-29-2012 09:55 AM

Fertilization of the fields for planting in the new year?

Sorry I should have included a link:

Defecation is traditionally equated with bodily functions which means you have a body, it does nasty things and has nasty smells and you, too, one day will die and become rot (fertilizer; poop; decay, etc)

Deities typically don't defecate. They are spirit; not physical bodies. We are here in the material world and therefore must put up with nasty things. Poop=death.

that said, Obama's religion is irrelevant. I say screw the Presidency and let's have a High Priestess for a change!

regular.joe 12-31-2012 03:05 AM

Everyone poops. That is all.

Clodfobble 12-31-2012 03:12 PM

Though some require medical intervention to do so.
