Words With Friends
Anyone still play this? I've just gotten it on my phone, but I don't do it through Facebook, not sure if that excludes me from games with people who do... My username is Clodfobble, if anyone wants to hit me up.

I'll check it out. I'm Flintsr, #18 all-time high score on Word Jewels 2 (blitz mode).

I love Words with Friends! I'm Chocolatl there, too. I tend to play very slowly and at strange hours when I'm up with the baby.
I play slowly too.
Game on! |
I love this game.
Yeah, man. I hope I can close the gap. Good game.
Dude, Flint is currently kicking my ass up the street and back again. Excellent lexicography by this gentleman.
I prefer scramble with friends
I prefer scrambled with fries
scrambled eggs, sauteed jalapenos and onions with fresh ground pepper/sea salt topped with Pace picante sauce and shredded cheese.
and bacon....but that goes without saying |
err, what's words with friends?
Online scrabble. Addicting!
It's the 2nd reason, after the crappy camera, that I want to ditch my work Blackberry for an iPhone after the contract expires in January. Can't do Words With Friends on the Blackberry. And I tried it on Facebook but didn't like how it reported my playing it to everyone.
Clodfobble and Chocolat, I'll play with you guys.
I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow. And I watered it in fears Night and morning with my tears, And I sunned it with smiles And with soft deceitful wiles. And it grew both day and night, Till it bore an apple bright, And my foe beheld it shine, And he knew that it was mine - And into my garden stole When the night had veiled the pole; In the morning, glad, I see My foe outstretched beneath the tree. I'm playing 6 matches; one of my random opponents just quit when I got out 100 points ahead. Glatt, Verizon is giving away the iPhone 4 right now--get one! |

Flint, i'm gonna pm you my username too in case you want more opponents. my usewr is the same for both scramble and words with friends. the reason why I don't put my user name here is because it's a personal name. don't want anyoen irl looking for me to find me. :D damn, i'm so tired. ciao! |
Sorry, LB and all, I'm resigning all my matches as soon as my turn comes up. Too much going on in my life right now to have another time-sucking distraction to contend with.
To be honest, I also have some problems with the game, coming from the expectation that it would be like Scrabble--it isn't, at all, when there is no "challenge" aspect, and you can either Google words or just flop down tiles until something sticks. |
It's no biggie, Flint. Games are for fun or something to relax with. If it ain't making you happy, then don't play. :)

btw, Clodfobble, I've been wanting to play 'ennui' but never had the opportunity where it would have scored well. It's a cool word, but how do you measure coolness? In my mind, the classic measure of Scrabble coolness is where your spatial reasoning can find that spot where your vocabulary fills in that cool word, and 'ennui' hits TW on the e, DL on the u--and your opponent didn't think you could get into that corner. That would be cool. Memorizing the 101 two-letter word combinations allowed in the Scrabble dictionary...is not cool. Because that isn't a transferable skill, such as, you know, having an actual vocabulary of real words that you know how to use in a sentence. |
This is why Boggle (and modern derivatives like Bookworm Adventures) is still the best word game ever invented.
What's Bookworm Adventures? I bought the pay version of regular Bookworm a few years back, to unlock the higher levels. I was looking for a free Bookworm app when I found Word Jewels 2--it involves the same skill. But what is the 'adventure' part?
It's an RPG version of the same game. I don't think there's a mobile version, I was just talking about the old PC one.
clod, try the wordzup app. it's boggle on your phone
Pogo has an app with Word Whomp. I love word whomp.
This morning a friend introduced me to a game called Letterpress. It's like a love baby between Boggle and that game where you draw lines to make boxes and once you close the box it's yours.
(Connect through GameCenter -- I'm Chocolatl there too if anyone is up for a game.) |
