Big Sarge 10-22-2012 08:48 AM

i would say i'm "pulling" for you............

good luck!!

busterb 10-22-2012 08:20 PM

Well, they took all the fun out of this trip damn quick. Took a long time to pull one eye tooth.
Oh the joy.

glatt 10-22-2012 08:39 PM

Sorry, Buster! Some of the worst pain I ever felt was when I had a tooth pulled.

Big Sarge 10-22-2012 10:35 PM

Be careful not to get a dry socket. I hope they gave you some pain meds

Lola Bunny 10-26-2012 08:39 PM

How's that tooth, or lack of, doing, Buster?

jimhelm 10-26-2012 11:45 PM

wait until toothurty to reply. that's the time for talking teeth.

busterb 10-27-2012 07:33 PM

Lola, How's it doing? It sucks. I coughed so hard today I started it bleeding again. Since Big S. brought it up, I'm afraid of a dry socket. Warm salt water, cold beer and vodka. What can go worng?

Lola Bunny 11-05-2012 12:32 AM

I hope the warm salt water, beer, and vodka helped ya. :)

Big Sarge 11-19-2012 10:41 PM

Have you healed up ok? Thanksgiving is almost here and you need to get ready to pile it on

busterb 12-05-2012 10:09 PM

Back to tooth fairy 12/19/12. Along w/other shit at VA

BigV 12-06-2012 09:24 AM

good luck buster
I'm rooting for you man

infinite monkey 12-06-2012 09:33 AM

I think I see your problem busterb. See, you really should entrust your dental care to an actual dentist. Look for DDS after their name. I mean, fairies are nice and stuff. They gots all that pretty sparkle dust and their wings create a cooling air flow no ceiling fan could provide...but when it comes to tooths...they really don't know what they're doing!

Best of luck to you...tooths stuffs sucks. I am the queen of tooths stuffs...all my life.

:)

Big Sarge 12-12-2012 06:07 AM

Today, I was notified I had appointments with the VA on the 14th, 15th (a Sat appt???), and the 24th (Christmas Eve). You don't hear anything for months and then "BAM". They drop everything on you at once.

busterb 12-21-2012 05:33 PM

CT scans and tooth crap.
Before I went back to VA, I called the VA rep. at my congress man's office. I told him about the hassle for a meal ticket, If you live over 50 miles, and have to fast before test, you get a meal ticket. Maybe, if you can find the SOB.
So, was early and went to patients rep. told her my story. She really impressed me with her affirmatives action style.
She made a few call and told them what she thought I said. I didn't say that. Hell let me speak with them. She was so busy thinking about her diction that all went to hell.
Anyway she told me to check back at lower extremities clinic for ticket.
Then I report for Ct scan, hey we're going to do a chest scan. Why in the fuck did someone send me the crap to drink? For only a chest ct?
Someone there was on ball, made a few calls. Gave me shit to drink & iv then did all of ct scans.
Then I go back to where the lady told me for ticket. No deal, only for nuclear meds. Back to her, she acted like I went to wrong place and pissed me off. So I went back, with her tailing me. They finally got me a ticket. She left with her nose in the air.
Tooth fairy I have no teeth on my left side now. Upper & lower. We saved some for Christmas. Right?? Happy Holidays all!! from deep in dixie!!!

busterb 12-21-2012 08:49 PM

Forgot about the lower extremities appointment. I thought maybe it was for my knees. But, no was a foot nurse, who cut my nails. & trimmed my corn. She gave me some pads for foot.
Which feel great. We had a big laugh about what I had named the foot Dr. that was there before. Herr DR. Josef Mengele. She laughed, said her name for him was dumb ass.I will need some suggestions about how to mark my foot for pads, as I can''t bend over to see to place. Was thinking about drawing my foot on something, but how to mark the corn, where to place the pad? Something to paint the corn, then place foot down, leave a mark, and then mark around?

Lola Bunny 12-21-2012 09:23 PM

hmm...can't you put your foot on your other knee? like bend your knee and twist it to put on the other leg. blah, don't know how to say it, hopefully you got the picture. anyways, i figure maybe you could see your foot that way.

by the way, sorry about your teeth and all that fasting and crap to drink.

Griff 12-22-2012 09:31 AM

I hope the rest of your holiday is more fun B.

Busterb, you can also try using an inexpensive 10"-11" diagonal handheld mirror. Place the pad, adhesive up, on the mirror then release the mirror flat onto the carpet from as low as you can reach. The pad will probable stay on the mirror; but, if not, a tiny dab of something like hand lotion between the mirror and the back of the pad should keep it there. View your foot in the mirror from an angle; so, you can bring it down into proper position on the pad. Have a string tied to the handle of the mirror's frame to retrieve it. Good luck with whatever method you use.

Rabbit gal. If I could get my foot in my lap, I would fly to TX. and take ya to a night of dining and dancing. You forget I'm almost 70 years old.

busterb 12-22-2012 06:00 PM

Sexobon. A good idea, but I really need to mark the spot of corn. The pads, she gave to me , she called horseshoe pads. They have a small opening for corn. I'm hoping I have, somewhere a thing to ink a stamp pad. If so, I'll get someone to mark the corn, then step on paper, or whatever. Then mark around my foot.

Lola Bunny 12-22-2012 09:58 PM

Hihi...sorry, Buster. My mom is almost 70, and she could do it. But then the physical therapist said she's flexible for her age. :p I hope you'll be able to figure somethIng out.

sexobon 12-23-2012 11:49 AM

There's lots of people at that age who can still put their foot in their mouth.

So busterb, I take it you don't want to simply have someone stab the corn and make your mark in blood.

monster 12-23-2012 07:52 PM

1) Eats lots of beans
2) sign up for a yoga class.
3) fart and groan a lot
4) apologise and explain you're only doing it because you're not flexible enough to place your own corn pads and have no-one to help you
5) leave with corn pad fixed and regular schedule of helpers lined up.

busterb 02-11-2013 06:58 PM

I now have no upper tooths. Next trip they get rest of lower

busterb 02-12-2013 09:26 PM

I got someone to put a spot of ink on corn, then, foot on plywood, drawed around my foot. Still a 1/2 assed deal. Next try is plaster of paris for a foot print.

glatt 02-13-2013 07:48 AM

Do you have one of those printer/scanners that makes a photocopy? If so, just put it on the floor, gently rest your foot on the glass, poke the copy button with a long stick, and make a photocopy of your foot. Should be easier to line your foot up with a photocopy of your foot than with a hand drawn outline of your foot.

Big Sarge 02-20-2013 01:11 AM

You just need a young "sweet-thing" to take care of your feet. Hope you are doing better. I'll be at Camp Shelby this summer if I can get my health straight. Maybe we could meet up?

busterb 02-20-2013 09:52 PM

Sure. pm me later w/details

busterb 04-28-2013 01:54 PM

3 appointments the 23rd. CT scan lungs, foot nurse, and tooth gal. I'm now down to 4 teeth left. Hope to have them gone in a few weeks. Would like to have choppers by my BD, so I can cook a pig. CT scan found something, so I'll have to report to health dept. and hack up something from them.
I had a round with Mycobacterium kansasii back in early 90s. Hope it's not that shit again. 18 months of a hand full of pills a day.

Big Sarge 04-28-2013 02:05 PM

Hang in there BusterB! I hope I get to meet you this summer

xoxoxoBruce 04-28-2013 04:34 PM

Sucks to have tooth problems, it's something you can't rub some dirt on it and ignore.

Clodfobble 05-02-2013 07:44 AM

Good to hear from you, buster. Hope the lung thing works out okay. Do they think it's maybe pneumonia again?

busterb 05-02-2013 11:23 AM

Well I guess the state is thinking TB. See new thread lungs.

busterb 06-10-2013 03:17 PM

Back to tooth DR. tomorrow for final yanks. Looking like no teeth for the 4th and my Bday cook out. SUCKS!! :smack:

BigV 06-11-2013 11:59 AM

You'd better go real low and real slow on the brisket then...

Sorry about ur tooths buster.

richlevy 06-12-2013 01:18 PM

I had one of my front teeth extracted today. It was about 4 teeth back on the right. It broke a few weeks ago, but I scheduled the extraction for after the Las Vegas trip to avoid the risk of being in pain on vacation.

I took the day off today and I'm glad I did. I only slept about 5 hours last night, waking up at 5:30 instead of 7:00 for my 8:00 appointment.

The extraction went pretty well, except that they wanted to use human bone to start the rebuilding of the socket, instead of cow or synthetic. I told them that for some reason I just found this a bit creepy, even though I would have accepted a donated organ. They didn't have any cow bone so they used the human bone. The bone is highly sterilized powder that is pretty much all calcium and is there as a substrate. The body will absorb and replace it.

After the procedure I was told that I might find some bone grit in my mouth in the next few days since they overpack the hole.

I guess that makes me a Fine Young Cannibal

The dentist recommended 3 Advil and 2 Extra Strength Tylenol to soften the blow as I come off the anesthetic. I picked up the antibiotic prescription and the generic ibuprofen and went home and crashed. 5 hours after the procedure I have a low grade ache in my jaw and sinuses.

Be glad that's all you're feeling. I hope you won't feel more pain. When my mom had bone graft in her jaw, she experienced extreme pain, even with prescription pain killers and half of her face was swollen for days.

Btw, sorry that you won't be able to enjoy the food on the 4th and your bday cookout.

busterb 07-10-2013 09:00 PM

Had some of bumps scraped off gums today. I had enough and called a halt. Fun, you bet.

busterb 08-01-2013 08:07 PM

I gave up on tooth faerie school. It was no deal. After I spent $1820.00 I went next door and got a way better price. The school charge me $175 for removing one knot on gums. My neighbor wants $75.00. He gave me 3 prices for teeth, from $1120.00 to $1510.00.
I went to LSU's school while I was going to electronic school in Nu awlins, and only paid for what they used. Well this was in mid 80s.

Lamplighter 08-01-2013 10:46 PM

There is something wrong in our society with respect to dentistry.

A few weeks ago, my wife had a total knee replacement surgery + 2 days, 2 nights in hospital.
$15 pre-surgery appt + $200 hospital charge + $28 post hospital Rx's

Total: $243 for major surgery and all pre-surgery lab tests, blood typing, X-rays, meals, etc., etc., etc.

-------

A few days later, I had a old crown come loose.

$25.00 for "emergency" appointment + $15 co pay + $75 procedure charges

Total: $115 - FOR ONE TOOTH, with insurance ($3000 maximum)

The dentist told me this was a "temporary" fix, and I might need to get a bridge.
Prices ran from $475 up to $4,500 - Insurance does NOT cover bridge work, etc.

I don't think I ever met a dentist I didn't despise.

Clodfobble 08-02-2013 07:58 AM

Sure, but how much did the knee surgery cost your insurance in total? The only real difference I see there is that insurance doesn't generally consider dental work to be worth covering.

busterb 09-05-2013 06:51 PM

1/2 the bumps off today. $140.00. I see me sum choppers down da road.

sexobon 10-04-2013 11:19 PM

Good reason to sip on dry wines that are well balanced.

busterb 10-10-2013 07:07 PM

Hopefully the last surgery was done on my gums today. Maybe teeth by turkey day

Lola Bunny 10-11-2013 02:02 PM

Would press "like " button if there were one.

Clodfobble 10-12-2013 07:18 AM

I hope you get some nice chompers in time for your turkey, Buster.

Big Sarge 10-13-2013 11:36 PM

Praying for you. Lord knows you have had trouble with those teeth

Griff 10-14-2013 08:24 AM

Nobody wants turkey puree. I hope you get those teeth.

busterb 10-29-2013 07:32 PM

Impressions done today. Paid 1/2 of cost of teeth. Yuk. $675.00. So, should have teeth by T-day. But, I want a big ribeye. Yes.

Guy I used to know came to his brother's house to find him grilling steaks. Bad thing was his jaws were wired shut, literally. Brother told him he could have a steak, IF he could eat it. His jaw had been fixed for a couple months, and I guess he just kinda snapped a little. This is a guy who enjoys his meals, mind you. He grabbed up a steak and marched off into the house, where he dropped that steak, minus bone, right into the blender without missing a beat.

T-bone smoothie.

busterb 12-11-2013 09:04 PM

I has tooths. A whole freakin mouth full. What fun.

Big Sarge 12-12-2013 12:22 AM

glad you got your teeth. I bet your mouth feels different

Clodfobble 12-12-2013 07:12 AM

Eat some ribs to celebrate!

glatt 12-12-2013 07:34 AM

That's great, Buster! Going back in the thread, it's been about 6 months without teeth. Sarge is right. I bet it feels different.
