Ground UP vs Top Down

I think if you really wanted a grass roots sort of government ron paul would be your choice... top down is a theocracy because it is God above who is ruleing... and it's not a kick in the gut the white cat died of "bone cancer"....

SamIam 07-07-2012 07:06 PM

Besides, who would vote for god? He screws up on a regular basis - forest fires that burn out of control for days on end; horrific storms that kill people and leave everyone sweltering at record temps - never mind tsunami's and earth quakes. It would be like having in the White House an over-sized child under going the terrible twos. No thanks.

JBKlyde 07-07-2012 07:41 PM

well did it ever occur to you that God is mad because the leaders in the white house are not behaving correctly and if the leaders started following Christ like he was King and not just as you put it "a 2 year old", then maybe we'd have eternal blue sky's and rain bows..

sexobon 07-07-2012 08:32 PM

That makes sense. After all, God made you the way you are because he was mad at your parents for not behaving correctly and following Christ.

SamIam 07-07-2012 11:34 PM

Yeah, but what if god is really a Buddhist? Then what?

regular.joe 07-07-2012 11:51 PM

JB, you do understand that you are posting in a community made of a majority of atheists and agnostics?

classicman 07-07-2012 11:56 PM

joe - you do realize that JB is here to save us all from ourselves, right?

DanaC 07-08-2012 04:57 AM

Why would God care what one particular country's leaders are doing? Is it just the ones in the White House? Or is it all leaders everywhere?

Why would the malpractices of leaders count for more than the thousand and one small acts of kindness and compassion shown by ordinary people every day?

Griff 07-08-2012 05:29 AM

Mericans are the new improved Chosen People ® mmkay.

DanaC 07-08-2012 06:34 AM

Ahhh. I forgot, you guys took over from us.

Quote:

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main,
This was the charter of the land,
And Guardian Angels sang this strain:

(Chorus)

The nations not so blest as thee
Must, in their turn, to tyrants fall,
While thou shalt flourish great and free:
The dread and envy of them all.

(Chorus)

Still more majestic shalt thou rise,
More dreadful from each foreign stroke,
As the loud blast that tears the skies
Serves but to root thy native oak.

(Chorus)

Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame;
All their attempts to bend thee down
Will but arouse thy generous flame,
But work their woe and thy renown.

(Chorus)

To thee belongs the rural reign;
Thy cities shall with commerce shine;
All thine shall be the subject main,
And every shore it circles, thine.

(Chorus)

The Muses, still with freedom found,
Shall to thy happy coasts repair.
Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,
And manly hearts to guard the fair.

(Chorus)
Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

If some of us put as much effort into our own lives as we put into trying to disprove God, our world would be a much better place.

But, everyone is entitled to their opinion, that's just mine.

Theory and Reality are 2 different things.. try not to get them confused. Theory says Rockets go UP and it's been proven true by Nasa but if no one ever challenged that theory we'd be digging a hole to the center of the earth. Reality says Christ Died on the cross to forgive us of our sins, it was profized long before it ever happened and then it happened. History Predicts Itself try not to predict doom upon your life.

See, that works for pretty much anything you put in there,

Gravdigr 07-08-2012 04:59 PM

My life is sorted to an ok point. I await the end.

And besides, looking for "funny stuff to post on the internet" is my religion.

DanaC 07-08-2012 05:28 PM

Hehehe. fair point.

Wow, I hope not. That kind of weather leads to drought. Ask Texas.

Spexxvet 07-09-2012 12:38 PM

I prefer coffee beans ground up and women with their tops down.

yea that's a really GOOD aditude.. one thing i thought if black people can have 'niggers with aditudes' then white people can have 'white boys with whips' that might be an unfair advantage..

DanaC 07-09-2012 03:15 PM

Wtf ?

JBKlyde 07-09-2012 03:31 PM

It was an off topic joke...

Ibby 07-09-2012 03:51 PM

it was a deeply bigoted racist joke...

Considering all god has to answer for, I don't blame him for remaining invisible as well as silent. If by some wild chance there really is an after life, I'm going to track god down and give him a piece of my mind (what's left of it).

jimhelm 07-09-2012 05:23 PM

Him?

I though God was a Chick?

Gravdigr 07-09-2012 05:30 PM

Damn you Jim for making me think of this!!:lol2:

I know that wasn't Joan Osborn, but, for some reason, I think of this song when I see Alanis The Mouth Morissette.

DanaC 07-09-2012 06:03 PM

Jim, that was great! I have never actually listened to the words before.

jimhelm 07-09-2012 06:08 PM

I think I may have linked it before in response to some other JBK thread. It always reminded me of the random nature of 'Gods' ... and the interpretation we subject them to.

the kid with the blue hair... it was a joy to him until he considered what people might say. I think that sucks.

I think that's what God was telling them. I just don't know why.

That's one way to keep from taking responsibility. :p:

and smart asses

Griff 07-10-2012 12:05 PM

Most would identify as smart asses before any other affiliation.

JBKlyde 07-10-2012 03:03 PM

well I'm just a "numb skull" or maybe as my dad put it "numb nuts".

SamIam 07-10-2012 03:50 PM

There are probably thousands of Christian forums on the Net, JB. You should join some. I'm sure you'd get the responses you seek on one of them. On the Cellar you're only going to find a bunch of mischievous monkeys, typing away.

jimhelm 07-10-2012 04:15 PM

what fun would it be if everyone agreed with him though? trolling 101, Sam

SamIam 07-10-2012 07:13 PM

Well, yeah. JB wouldn't even be noticed in a Focus on the Family Forum. Negative attention is better than none at all. He could REALLY have fun on the Internet Infidels forum. Maybe I shoud pm him the link. It would be like throwing a kitten to a school of sharks. Heh Heh

JBKlyde 07-10-2012 07:34 PM

well you know the way I see it is that all parts if the net that are not christian forums are part of the mission field and I'm trolling for souls.. like a fisher man with the fishing pole out the back of the boat..

jimhelm 07-10-2012 07:38 PM

if you're going to use that analogy, I'd say you're chumming.

xoxoxoBruce 07-10-2012 10:26 PM

Uh... that's not a fishing pole you're holding. :headshake

Cyber Wolf 07-11-2012 10:28 AM

And he's using the wrong bait for this school of fish.

JBKlyde 07-11-2012 10:35 AM

Why? The bible already tells us everything we need to know. Or are you god's disciple?

infinite monkey 07-12-2012 10:13 AM

Baited. Like fishing, right? Good one.

Quote:

'Bated' is just a shortened form of 'abated', meaning 'to bring down, lower or depress'. 'Abated breath' makes perfect sense and that's where the phrase comes from.

SamIam 07-12-2012 07:06 PM

Yep. As in fishing. :D
