March 19, 2012: All the Superheroes Read Lei Feng

Sent to me from Beijing. The text at the top reads "The world’s superheroes all study" and the book they're holding and referencing (that is to say, the book they all study) is Lei Feng's Diary.
Lei Feng is a Great Leap Forward icon, that’s him on the right.

Know your enemy all that kind of things

Clodfobble 03-19-2012 02:56 PM

Superman has something weird going on with his britches.

infinite monkey 03-19-2012 03:11 PM

Superpeople get on my nerves. They're all freaky weird and socially inept.

Well, Wonder Woman was cool but I don't see her in that picture. I see a Kirstie Alley and a Sally Struthers, neither of whom is a superpeople.

Super-size people?

Grav, have you seen Kirstie lately? She's looking good! (Again!) I feel Kirstie's pain. ;)

spudcon 03-19-2012 10:19 PM

People still worshipping Mao, the most successful mass murderer of the 20th century, outperforming Stalin and Hitler. Be proud, communists!

ZenGum 03-19-2012 10:24 PM

Spud, bud, howdy! You've been quiet lately. How are things going?

Pearcie (AUS) 03-19-2012 10:52 PM

Things I learned from Lei Feng...

Never let anyone take your photo while wearing a silly hat. You never know where it might end up.

HungLikeJesus 03-19-2012 11:45 PM

I thought all superheros either wear a mask or a funny hat, or at least a headband.

Pearcie (AUS) 03-20-2012 12:06 AM

Fair point, HLJ, but that's why superheroes usually try to keep their true identity secret. Plus most ordinary people wouldn't have the balls to rip on a superhero for obvious reasons.

Didn't Sally Struthers have a um ah Super Rack?

newtimer 03-20-2012 10:53 AM

When did Moe Howard become a superhero?

wolf 03-20-2012 04:52 PM

I love Moe Howard and all, but I don't know if superhero is the word I'd use ...

Griff 03-20-2012 05:43 PM

Wait, wasn't Superman a fascist rather than a commie? Cue UG in 3, 2, 1...

HungLikeJesus 03-20-2012 07:14 PM

Who, John Wayne?

Being away to keep from getting disappointed by Cellarites. Seems that when I spoke the truth here, some uberliberals wanted to squash my right to speak, so I just decided to let them have the site. It was fun for a while, and it takes a lot to offend me, but they finally wore me down. The web is a gigantic media, so I've found nicer places. Still look at the pod occasionally, but usually keep signed off.

There are a couple non-uberliberals here, you know ...

I have no idea what incident you are talking about, but what's more likely is that you said something you couldn't defend well and when somebody called you on it, you saw you were losing the argument, so you ran away.

A open minded person would take that opportunity to reexamine their beliefs and either learn something new or else realize that they were right all along and be able to clearly articulate why they are right. Nobody knows it all. There's no shame in being wrong, as long as you are willing to learn from it.

Well, the last thread he participated in (besides this one) is http://cellar.org/showthread.php?t=6314http://cellar.org/showthread.php?t=6314. It's an OLD thread circa 2004, but it seems I had resurrected it (perhaps a poor choice of words) in June of 2011. The conversation eventually turned to evolution, creationism, scientific method, etc and then, quiet.

I see zero evidence of any effort to "squash his right to speak", though he would likely find the conversation as disappointing now as he did then.

spudcon, come on back. I'd love to read what you have to say.

classicman 05-22-2012 11:05 PM

Heya Spud!

footfootfoot 05-23-2012 06:01 PM

Yeah, and if all the super heroes were jumping off of bridges would you do that too?

infinite monkey 05-23-2012 07:43 PM

Guffaw!
