I think its a switch made from a cows tail... I don't know why I think that...

xoxoxoBruce 12-31-2011 05:56 PM

The tribes that carry them raise cattle, and it works for the cows.

limey 12-31-2011 06:06 PM

It's just after midnight here and the heavens have opened! I hope that's not indicative of the year to come!

fargon 12-31-2011 06:59 PM

God has simply cleansed you of your sins. The rest of us are forced to live another year with our legacies.

be-bop 12-31-2011 08:16 PM

Happy New Year to all you crazy kids on the Cellar

:D

Clodfobble 12-31-2011 10:25 PM

Happy New Year everyone. May the coming year be better than the last.

As for me, I'm going to bed, assuming the noise of fireworks doesn't keep me up. Tomorrow is just another day. But if we're lucky, it'll be another day with weather like today!

Lola Bunny 12-31-2011 10:33 PM

Happy New Year everyone! :D :celebrat:

I am on my 3rd beer and looking forward to the winter classic in Philadelphia!

kerosene 12-31-2011 11:53 PM

Happy New Years...in an hour or so...probably will be up here.

Maybe the wind will keep my husband from having a bonfire in the back yard.

infinite monkey 01-01-2012 12:21 AM

Merry New Year everyone.

Loved the clip, plt.

A bonfire? Don't you live in Snowville? :)

infinite monkey 01-01-2012 01:30 AM

Happy Birthday anonymous! You look good for 90 years old.

We did a couple of days ago, but yesterday it got to 50 (WHAAAAT?) and melted all the snow. Besides, snow wouldn't stop him.

The bonfire was fun, actually.

Trilby 01-01-2012 06:29 AM

Happy New Year everyone.

I had a lovely phone call from Cherry which brightened my NYE.

I also went to bed at the traditional 10:00.

May 2012 prove not to be the end but the beginning of a new and wonderful era.

Griff 01-01-2012 06:37 AM

Merry merry all! I didn't make it to 10 Bri... got my exercise yesterday and crashed with the kindle.

DanaC 01-01-2012 07:38 AM

I made it to about 10:30 before I started making moves towards bed. I certainly had the kettle on for my nightime cuppa before the clock reached half past ten.

I actually, bizarrely, had quite a pleasant night in the end. Apart from a really bad hour or so. The rest of the time I felt ok. Fragile, but quite lighthearted in a weird way.

Sat up in bed listening to an audio book til about 2 am :p. When the fireworks started around midnight, I could just hear them over the story. Was quite nice really.

Sundae 01-01-2012 08:45 AM

Stirred for the fireworks.
Diz came to see me.
Probably just thought as there was a disturbance outside it was breakfast time.
Me? I admit I was drunk.

Silly sod confused 05.30 for breakfast time as well, so he jumped on and off and up and down constantly. I read until the 'rents got up at 08.45 and then slept til 10.50. Fed him at 08.30 - doubt that continuity will help though.

Broke 1st New Years Resolution at 05.30 therefore.
I had leftover cans. Am continuing to break, but tomorrow there will be no leftovers and the real work will begin.

DanaC 01-01-2012 08:58 AM

Yeah. I have to get my head around the idea of stopping smoking. Tobacco... I mean.

If I can quit smoking, anybody can. We will be praying for you.
Send me a pm with your phone number, and we can talk. I found that having some one to talk to helps.

zippyt 01-01-2012 11:11 AM

Surgical strike on Space Needle fireworks display. Left the house at 2345, drove, parked, walked, found vantage point, counted down, watched, celebrated, kissed, walked back, drove home. My *perfect* New Year's Eve celebration. Heh.

So pretty

limey 01-02-2012 07:33 PM

Great fireworks!

classicman 01-02-2012 07:34 PM

Damn dude. Those are excellent fireworks pics. Mine are always blurry.

BigV 01-02-2012 08:05 PM

Thanks everyone!

I have lots of blurry ones too. I just didn't post those. Speaking of posts, I'd set up the camera for what I wanted to shoot and braced it on a post. All I had to do was keep it from wobbling, and to press the shutter release. BIG difference. Try it sometime.

BrianR 01-03-2012 11:09 AM

I tracked the New Year around the world from the IRC pespective.

Had several such moments.

Mine was kinda meh. I could hear but not see the fireworks and I spent most of the time trying unsuccessfully to shush the dogs, who don't like fireworks or gunfire, which we had in spades.

The next day, I woke up with a nasty head cold, which has currently nearly cut off my voice. I bet I lose fifteen pounds before it goes tho!

be-bop 01-05-2012 05:41 PM

So the first week of 2012 is nearly up, how has it been for you?

Ours has been a complete bitch, my wife's Mother was rushed into hospital on the 2nd with Pneumonia and it has been a waiting game since.
Every antibiotic has been pumped in with very limited success and now it looks like it's just a matter of time, not a great way for a feisty likeable 97 year old matriach to end her days.

very sad

classicman 01-05-2012 06:37 PM

Sorry to hear that.

There's been WAY TOO much ill-health and/or death going around lately.

bluecuracao 01-05-2012 07:34 PM

Pneumonia is so awful. I'm sad to hear your mother-in-law's got it, be-bop.

glatt 01-06-2012 08:10 AM

Sorry, be-bop.

plthijinx 01-08-2012 05:58 PM

I'd like an update, if you wouldn't mind. I hope she's getting better, pneumonia is awful. So sorry be-bop.

Bad News, she eventually lost the fight on Monday night, 3 weeks nearly after first contracting pneumonia.
The family are in bits as you'd expect, my brother in law said "It's like the end of an era" because she was ever present in all our lives for so long.
Still she got her wish to die at home with her family and carers rather than in hospital, it's what she told them in hospital that's what she wanted and she'd had enough treatment and wanted to go.
The health service in the UK gets a great deal of stick at times, but i can only praise everyone, nurses, doctors and carers for all rallying round to ensure my mother in Law got what she requested a quiet dignified death in her own home.

BigV 01-18-2012 05:55 PM

As sad news goes, that's a good as I could have hoped for. be-bop, you have my condolences and I hope you and your family can rally to support each other. I'm sorry to hear this news, but you and yours are in my thoughts.

classicman 01-18-2012 08:53 PM

Thoughts and prayers from my family to yours be-bop.

zippyt 01-18-2012 09:01 PM

Sorry to hear that Be Bop ,
All props to the Docs and Nurses for being Cool !!

Griff 01-19-2012 05:46 AM

It is good her wishes were followed, we should all be so fortunate. I'm sorry for your loss.

HungLikeJesus 01-19-2012 06:54 AM

This thread has taken a turn for the serious.

kerosene 01-19-2012 05:03 PM

I'm sorry to hear that, Bebop. Condolences to you and your family.
