Cellar Vibes needed
Can the Cellar send some collective good wishes for the Pilau dog. He's in a bad old way, my little wolf.
Took him to the vets on Friday and she said to give him a weekend break from all his regular meds and just take some powder in his food to help settle his tum, and pain relief via injections so as to bypass the gut. All this in preparation for starting his new pain meds today. This is it now, end of the line medically, this is now about making him comfortable and as pain free as possible til he's had enough and is ready to go. Aside from this weekend which has just been a fucking nightmare, he seems to still be getting something out of life. I am hoping, hoping really hard, that this current malaise is a result of the weekend of injections and no other meds, and not his new state of being. The new meds are steroid based. They don't get prescribed until long term is no longer an issue. I really want them to give him back some life. Even if it's just for a few more weeks. Butthey need to start working soon. Because I cannot let him go on the way he currently is. Send us some good vibes this way. A bit of Cellar love for a doggy-dwellar. |
Oh Dana. Crap. I'm crying right now. I love Pilau. I fell in love with a silly dog who lives across the pond.
I am so sorry. I hope he pulls through for a little bit more time. I know how hard this is. I'm sending every ounce of loving thought I have in my power. Poor Pilau, who I met when he had a poorly paw. You poor dear. I wish I could help in any way at all. |
This is done.
Hang in there. Good is ahead, also pain. The good will last, the pain will not. |
Thanks guys. That helps. Trying not to let my upset show with him, because ya know what dogs are like for picking up on moods. It helps to be able to express it here :p
|
Dana, I'm sorry!
Poor Pilau. I'm sending good vibes too. |
Dana - more Cellar vibes coming at you from here. So sorry, and I hope things will settle and Pilau be more comfy soon. Hugs to you both (gently)!

From one old dawg owner to another, from one old dawg to another, best wishes.
|
What they said, Dana. Just love him.
|
::pat pat pat:: good dog.
feel better, pooch. |
He's a Good Pilau Dog.
My thoughts and wishes are with you and the Good Dog. You are the focal point of his life. He loves you more than anything; perfect and unconditional. He has had your love in return, caring and careful - which has meant muzzles and injections and all the rest. I'm so sorry that you might be close to losing your companion. But you have done everything he needs. Even if it wasn't what he wanted. That would have required endless rabbits and squirrels and as much food as he could snaffle ;) Vibes if they will help. From-the-heart-love if not. |
I'm sorry he's not doing well Dana. He's had a good life with you though and I'm sure he'll let you know when he feels it's time.
Hugs to you both if you think it'll help. xx |
Hugs to you and Pilau, Dana.
My heart is breaking for you - but Pilau has no fear. He is counting on you to do the right thing and you will. Poor sweet Pilau. He is so lucky because he is so beloved. :apaw: Love, love, love. |
Pilau, you have been one lucky puppy to have Dana as your mom. And she has been just as fortunate to have you to love. All my good and peaceful vibes to the both of you.
|
Best wishes and warmest thoughts? Would a jug of "good corn squezzins" help?
|
awwww! Dana i'm sorry hun!! *hugs!
|
Its hard losing a good boy, too short a time in the world...
|
They are never here long enough. I am so sorry Dana. :(
Pilau is so lucky to have you as his "Mom" |
This is by far the hardest part of sharing your life and love with one of these marvelous dependant companions, the parting. By far the very worst part of that is the getting there.
I'm so very sorry you and the little bloke are facing this. Been there and done it and remember the feelings. Love to you and Pilau and we'll be thinking of you down here by the seaside and sending you small wet noses and big warm thoughts. |
You guys rock.
|
Poor Pilau, :'(
Give him a big gentle hug from over here. One for yourself too. |
Thoughts and Prayers from over here !!!
|
Oh, Pilau! I've read of his exploits for quite some time now. So sorry to hear he's doing poorly. He has been such a good friend to you. I hope he gets some relief from the pain and you can have some good final days with him.
Have you read "The Art of Racing in the Rain"? Its a wonderful book about a dog and his master and reincarnation written from the dog's point of view - a really wonderful and ultimately comforting story for anyone who is experiencing the loss of a beloved pet. My very deepest sympathy and best wishes. |
You've always done right by him, Dana, and I think he knows that. It's possible you're not the only one putting on a calm face so the other won't be afraid. He would wish peace on your heart just as much as we do. Love and eternal ball-chasing to the Pilau doggy...

What nice things people have said.
Dana, I was thinking about Pilau last night. He has been, to me, kind of the Cellar dog. I'm not disregarding any other Cellar pets (like Pearl for instance!) mind you. I love hearing about them all! We've read so much about him and we've seen his pictures and I feel like I know him. How is he doing today? |
 for you and Pilau
|
Ditto what they all said!
|
Clearly your well wishes (with a little help from the new meds ;P) are getting through :0
He seems far more himself today. I think he's responding really well to the new steroid tablets. I am starting to dare hope I may still have him through Christmas. |
Yay! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you both!
|
Thanks:)
I am way more hopeful now. He enjoyed his walk (yey!) and his food today. And he isn't whining under his breath all the time. Oh, and he just came pestering me for the food i was eating, so clearly he is feeling more like himself. Thank goodness...cus I sure ain't ready to lose him. |
I'm so happy to hear that! Yay! :)
|
How's he doing, Dana? :(
|
Actually, he's doing quite well. :)
The new meds seem to be helping a lot. He doesn;t seem to be in constant pain and he is back to enjoying his meals and walks again. Still quite a fragile beastie, but much happier than he was. This is the last tranch of meds really. So, as long as these are keeping him comfortable and allowing him some decent quality of life we're ok, but there isn;t anywhere to go from here medically. Probably bought us some extra time though. I am daring to hope I may still have him in the newyear :) |
We saw that with one of our cats, he perked up a bit for a while when he was on his final stage of medicines. Make sure he gets value for it.
God thing is, when he looks at you with those eyes which say I can had doggy-treat?, you can say yes. No need to worry about him getting obese or anything. Make him happy. |
|
Too cute.
|
I'm glad he's feeling better, Dana. I hope he can stick around for a while longer.
Sending virtual scrambled eggs with cheese to Pilau. |

I just saw this, Dana.
Im so sorry Pilau is going through this, but glad he is responding to his treatment. I feel your pain having gone through the same thing with Clyde not long ago. Hugs and cold sausage to Pilau. |
