favourite ethnic food `? ( a.k.a. - where should I go out to eat tonight )

Italian ?
French`?
Greek ?
Spanish ?
Thai?
Japanese `?
Chinese ?
Korean maybe?
American ( meaning here burgers... not much for "American" food joints here )
what else have I missed?

ok... .so whats your favourite "ethic" food and why?... ( winner helps me decide where mrs. and I are going for din-din this evening.

footfootfoot 08-12-2011 09:27 AM

Rösti?
Raclette?

infinite monkey 08-12-2011 09:28 AM

Mexican or Italian.

grynch 08-12-2011 09:32 AM

no winners yet...
rosti... is actually more german... done here as a side
raclette... it was pretty warm today..not in a cheesy mood
Italian?... we were out for pizza the other night
and Mex?... I purposefully left it off my list.. there are only two mex joints in town.. bad and worse

I think Japanese might win... a wee bit of saki and some nice tempura by the lakeside.

grynch 08-12-2011 09:32 AM

hard to please aren't I ? *L*

Trilby 08-12-2011 09:45 AM

I was going to vote Mexican, too.

I'm on a jag.

infinite monkey 08-12-2011 09:47 AM

I think I'll make tacos tonight.

Or salmon patties. Last time I made those I forgot the egg. It was more like salmon casserole.

grynch 08-12-2011 09:48 AM

we could go for a margarita or three... by then we might not care how bad the food was.

infinite monkey 08-12-2011 09:49 AM

Where did I hear this recently? At a party you can tell the drinkers from the stoners: the drinkers eat nothing and the stoners eat everything.

grynch 08-12-2011 09:51 AM

ohh.. thanks for reminding me.. one of the mex places.. and the better of the two is "allegedly" a bit of a drug den... tacos with a side of your choosing.... anything

Trilby 08-12-2011 10:09 AM

I want demerol with my tacos!!

and Tussionex for my beverage. I've a slight cough. :D

infinite monkey 08-12-2011 10:12 AM

I'll take two Double Decker tacos with a side of ganja. Hold the lettuce.

grynch 08-12-2011 10:16 AM

ok.. would madamme like those crushed as a topping on the tacos' or served on the side?

( as for the Tussionex... mrs. went to her doc with a nasty chest infection - cough - last year and among the things he prescribed were these drops to measure into a glass f water... 10-15 drops depending on how you felt... when we asked the doc he said they were a morphine derivative ......... "oh really doc?.. *coughhh*.. have I told you I have a *coughhhhH* touch of this too. )

grynch 08-12-2011 10:17 AM

p.s.. just got an email back from the mrs.. she's voting for the tempura also.

have a nice weekend kids...... toodles.

infinite monkey 08-12-2011 10:18 AM

You too grynch! :)

GunMaster357 08-13-2011 12:41 PM

Coming a bit late in the discussion, but what about crèpes from Brittany?

grynch 08-15-2011 02:05 AM

for those of you that have been sitting on the edge of your seats all weekend wondering what we did friday ---
well, we neglected to allow for August... half the restaurants around here close up shop for an august holiday and of course our Japanese place was locked up with a sign "back on 15august" ... so we decided to drive just over the border to a little sushi place... that was yep, you guessed it... closed for holidays.
we wound up at a nice little indian place down the street from that.. nice food, surly waiters

as you were.

I'm trying to make my mind up on what we're having today.
Ste is far too easy going to make a decision, Mum will defer to him because he works in London. So I'm going in with all the facts so we don't dither about for 30 minutes.

We have vouchers for Cafe Rouge (French)
Gourmet Burger Kitchen
Zizzi (Italian)
Pizza Express
La Tasca (Spanish)

Ste think Zizzi has the best offer as it's 25% off all main meals.
I've actually worked out that we're better with a Buy One Get One Free, especially on the tapas offer at La Tasca. But I don't know how he feels about tapas.

I might push for GBK as I know he loves it there, and it's the second cheapest.

Or third choice - if Mum is spooking about our diets (I've only lost 6lbs in 15 days, I'm very disheartened) then we can go to Pizza Express and split a main. Works out even cheaper!

Will let you know tomorrow exactly what we had and where and what it was like.

6lb in 15 days is good

Stormieweather 08-15-2011 01:36 PM

6 pounds in 15 days is amazing!! Usually, a sustainable loss runs between 1-2 pounds per week. I've done slightly less than 1 pound a week, this entire year.

Anyway, I vote French.

And if I'd been in time to vote for Grynch's meal, I'd have voted Greek...yumm!

We went with what Mum wanted, which was the same Pizza Hut deal we had last week in Cardiff.
As it was her treat it seemed best to agree - and she was so excited by the pizza last week she really had been fantasising about it.
Dad won't buy take-away pizzas. He says the ones from Tesco are just as good. Fair enough, it's his money. But when Mum gets a chance she really does enjoy a fresh one.

The deal is a pizza, garlic bread or potato wedges, unlimited salad and a drink for £5 (£5.50 if you want refills)
That's amazing. And given we ate in Leciester Square, where you pay £3.00 for a slice of pizza that has been sat there for a long time, and £2 for a 500ml bottle of Coke, that's mega amazing.

I gave my garlic bread to Ste and only ate half my pizza (and none of the crust!). And I was sensible in my salad choices - no tortilla chips, bacon bits, sauces etc. Lettuce, peppers, onions, jalapenos and a little bit of sweetcorn. I think I walked it all off anyway!

Oh, checked the scales this morning, have lost another 4lbs somewhere.
So I'm doing all right after all :)
